The party was over and Rem walked back to her dorm room. She sat on her bed and thought carefully about who might have poisoned the twins.
'There's one person in Dark Knights that I didn't see... It's quite suspicious that nobody saw him. I asked my teammates but they hadn't seen that person either. What's his name again?'
Rem never bothers to listen or remember other people who aren't important or catches her attention. She would only remember people she doesn't know when it is necessary.
{Geez... You should really get rid of that habit of ignoring other people who don't seem significant to you!}
'Yeah, yeah. I couldn't help it, okay??? When people talk, it's boring..! Whatever they're talking about never interests me. Plus, why would I remember someone else's name when I don't even know that person?'
{You should still get rid of that habit of yours. Even I remember their names...}
'Then you can help me remember their names.'
{Alright... I guess it can't be helped. How did I even end up in this situation..?}
'Too bad, you can't get rid of me.'
{Unfortunately, I can't. The only reason I'm here is because of you. Well, anyway, I believe that person you didn't see from Dark Knights during the match was Oliver.}
'Hm, okay... 002, shift into a computer. It's time to hack.' Rem wanted to find more details about Oliver.
{Understood.}
'Maybe he was the person who hired that boy to poison the twins... So far, two people in Dark Knights have their appearances hid. The first person is... Um... I don't know his name but he's the leader of Dark Knights. The other person who hid their appearance was that dude with white hair and grey eyes. Ah, yes. His name is Oliver.'
{Shifting is complete.}
'Now then... I just need to find out his background... If it isn't Oliver, then it has to be the leader of Dark Knights who did. It doesn't matter. I'll figure out who hurt my comrades soon...' Rem began typing on the computer.
...
Ten minutes passed and Rem finally stopped hacking.
'This was all I could find about him. Oliver's real name is Lewis. He started to live in an orphanage at the age of six. After living in the orphanage for three years, he was adopted by a man because they found out about Lewis's abilities. I couldn't find any details about that man or Lewis's abilities for some reason... Anyways, at the age of 9, Lewis began to train, fight, and kill. Right now, he's working for the person who adopted him.'
{Not bad.}
'Well, I also found out where he is currently. Let's get going. I need to get some information out of him..!' Rem put on her cloak and jumped out of the window.
It took Rem a few minutes to get to where Lewis lived. When she got there, she knocked on the door.
A boy with white hair and grey eyes opened the door. Rem inspected his stats.
[Name: Lewis]
[Race: ???]
[Level: 56]
[HP: 74,000/74,000]
[MP: 13,000/13,000]
[Element(s): ???]
'Huh... His race and element are both question marks...'
"What?" The boy asked, clearly annoyed.
"Good evening, Lewis. May I have a word with you?" Rem asked politely.
"Hahaha! How funny..." Lewis laughed.
'Why is he laughing? Is he crazy or what..?'
"Someone like you dared to come to my place? Wait... Aren't you the leader of Ver? What are you doing here? How did you..?" Lewis was confused.
Suddenly, his smile disappeared.
"You must be the one who ruined the plan... Well, unfortunately... The prince and princess didn't die. I wonder why..? How did they not die? I've clearly told that green-haired boy to use one of the strongest and deadliest poisons... Did he not? I even saw the twins get poisoned! These twins should have died in five hours! What did you do to get rid of the poison???" Lewis asked.
"Why should I tell you?" Rem asked back.
"Urk... How dare you ruin the plan!!! I'll make you regret you've ever been born!" Lewis growled.
"Ha..." Rem sighed, trying to control her anger.
'I should control my anger...'
"Are you stupid or what?" Rem asked.
"What?" The boy's brows furrowed.
"So what if your level is a little higher than mine? I can defeat you. You're the one who will regret what you did!" Rem stated.
"Tch. Do you not know who I am?" The boy asked, raising one of his brows.
'He's slow... His brain functions very slow... Too slow... Maybe he's acting..?'
"Yes, of course, I do. How did you think I knew your real name and where you lived?" Rem asked as she put on her business smile.
"Whatever, you're going to die today!" Lewis yelled, dashing towards Rem.
Rem stood there calmly and cut Lewis's head off ruthlessly.
{Don't you need to get some answers from him?}
'No, he won't answer my questions anyway. I might as well kill him so he won't hurt my friends again.'
"Ha!" Lewis's head that was cut off and the body of him turned into smoke.
'What..?'
"You think you can kill me that easily? I need some answers from you so I won't kill you... Yet..!" Three Lewis's appeared in front of Rem.
'How annoying... I'll have to find his real body first. It seems he can hide his presence... He also doesn't show on the map. Why..? Is there some kind of skill he has that does this?' Rem wondered.
All three Lewis's threw a few knives at Rem. The knives had magic in them already so if one gets hit by it, they will get seriously injured or in the worse case, die. Rem decided to use her full strength on Lewis.
'I have nothing to hide... He's going to die anyway.' Rem activated her shadow flames.
'If I combine the shadow flames with wind magic, the fire will become stronger. It's kind of like an attack buff.' Rem activated her wind magic on her shadow flames.
Rem has flames on both of her hands. She raised her right hand, pointed it towards one of the Lewis's, and used her shadow flames to create a blast of strong magic. It looks as if Rem was shooting large beams of dark flames. The beam that was aimed at one of the Lewis's ended up getting destroyed in a few seconds. It also created a huge hole inside the house.
'Dang... That's dangerous..! I should learn how to control this better. The amount of mana I have to use on this skill isn't that bad.'
"F*ck!" Lewis cursed.
'Ah... His real body was hiding inside the house, under his desk. What a weird hiding spot. Oh well. At least I found his real body.' Rem used her martial arts to appear in front of Lewis's real body in less than a second.
She grabbed Lewis from the collar of his shirt and threw him to the wall.
*BOOM!!!
'Oh... Who's going to pay for all these repair bills?'
When Lewis crashed into the wall because of Rem, the wall of the house collapsed. The house was made from bricks and concrete with magic in them so they don't break easily. Right now, the house is completely wrecked. Only a few walls from the first floor remain.
"Urg... That hurts..!" Lewis complained as he groaned in pain.
Lewis was rubbing his back. He was still sitting on the floor.
"You survived that?" Rem was surprised.
She didn't expect Lewis to survive when she threw him. After all, she even used magic to enhance her strength and martial arts.
"Good thing I protected myself in time... I shouldn't have messed with you... Well, whatever. I have failed. Just kill me." Lewis sighed, admitting his defeat.
'Seriously? He's just going to give up his life like that? His skills are pretty good... I know he's not the one who wants the twins dead. He was only ordered to.'
"How about joining me?" Rem suggested.
"You have to choices. You can die right now or you can come with me. I can help you become stronger. Of course, I'll treat you well. The only condition is... You cannot betray me. Simple, isn't it?"
"Hm... I don't want to die yet. I've only met my adopted father a few times when I was assigned or completed a mission. At a young age, I was taught that if I fail, I will become useless and get killed. Joining you doesn't seem that bad. Alright then. I'll join you but help me with something." Lewis said.
"It depends. What is it?"
"Help me get my memories back. I have no idea what happened to me when I was a child. The only memories I can remember are... At the age of 9, I was brainwashed. I can't remember anything before that. Please... Help me get my memories back. I promise I'll become someone loyal to you." Lewis raised his head, staring at Rem to see if she would agree to what he said.
'Brainwashing..?'
"What a coincidence. I'm also trying to find my memories. At least we're at the same track at some point." Rem replied casually.
"So would you accept it or..?"
"I'll accept. However... If I see any sign of suspicious activity or betrayal, you will immediately have your head chopped off." Rem said in a serious tone.
"Got it." Lewis nodded his head.
"Alright then. For now, I'll heal you. You should find a place to stay for tonight. Just stay in an inn. The next day, register for a dorm room." Rem ordered.
"Haha... This house is done for. Whatever. I didn't pay for it anyway." Lewis shrugged.
