Chapter 66 - Fighting Place

"We've arrived," Michael said indifferently.

Rem and Michael were at the back of the school. There were filled with trees and nature and around the school, there were tall fences that have magic in them to prevent uninvited people from intruding the school.

"Isn't this the back of the school?" Rem asked.

"Yeah, it is. This is where we meet up daily."

'We?' Rem thought about it for a little bit.

"Why are you showing me this place?"

"Well, you wanted to follow me so I decided to show you because why not. I already warned you it would be dangerous beforehand anyway."

"I guess so..." Rem was curious about who Michael was meeting behind the school every day.

Rem continued to follow Michael until he stopped in front of a huge old, brick wall covered in vines.

'Why did he stop?' Rem asked herself.

Michael put his right hand on the wall. Suddenly, Michael's right hand went through the wall.

'What just happened..? Is this a portal? I've never seen anything like this...' Rem thought, amazed.

"Come on, let's go. You coming or not?" Michael looked back at Rem then turned to the wall again.

He walked through the wall. Rem followed behind him. After entering the wall, Rem could hear people fighting and a lot of magic in the air.

'What's going on? 002, do you know how we went through the wall? What kind of magic is this? I couldn't even sense a thing...' Rem asked, feeling wary.

{You couldn't sense anything because there's a very powerful kind of magic that can block all kinds of sounds and presences from inside the magic area. You can call it a very powerful magic barrier. Not any normal person can use this kind of magic. Nobody can get in the area inside the magic barrier without the owner's permission.}

'I see..! Then do you know who made this magic barrier?'

{No, I don't. All I know is the fact that this magic is created by someone extremely powerful...}

'Oh...'

"This is where we fight! Anyone from this school can come here. Usually, first years wouldn't know anything like this since they're new and probably don't know much. In other words, most of the first years are just clueless people. Even if they did know about this place, they probably wouldn't dare come here since as I've said before, it's very dangerous. As you can see, this place is quite large. A perfect place to fight, don't you agree? However, even we have rules and roles here. The principal might have already known about this place. I'm not too sure why she's letting us keep this place though... By the way, I'm Michael, a second-year in this school. Sorry for the late introduction. I'm a little forgetful sometimes..!" Michael finally introduced himself after explaining a few things.

"Right..." Rem replied awkwardly.

"Wait... Your name is Rem? I'm pretty sure I heard you say you were from class 1E! Class 1E..." Michael paused and thought about where he has seen Rem's name before.

"I remember now!!! You're the person who was ranked first, aren't you?!!" Michael said loudly as he pointed at Rem.

Michael was pretty loud so many people who were near them heard Michael.

"Yes, why?" Rem asked.

'I have a bad feeling about this...' Rem thought as she sighed.

The people who heard Michael quickly surrounded the two of them.

"Did I hear something about being first?" A senior student asked.

"First? Who's first?" Another student asked curiously.

"I heard that dude say that he's ranked first or something like that!" Someone else yelled, loud enough for everyone to hear.

"Wait, wait, wait! I'm not the first ranked person. It's a misunderstanding! The person who's ranked first is this girl right here!" Michael said, slightly panicked.

"You can't fool us! How can this little girl be ranked first?!!" Someone from the crowd yelled.

Slowly, everyone in the area surrounded Michael and Rem.

"It's true! If you looked at the school board, a person named Rem was ranked first! It really isn't me!!! I'm not Rem, I'm Michael! Some of you already know who I am! I'm really not ranked first. Just trust me on this. if you don't just simply check the school board." Michael quickly explained.

"Hm... Alright then. You! Fight me!!!" A tall, muscular man said as he pointed at Rem.

'How rude...' Rem thought, annoyed.

"Why should I? I'm only a first-year." Rem calmly said.

"So what? Just fight me already! Are you scared?" He mocked, smirking.

"I'm just a weak little girl who's gotten lucky with her test scores." Rem replied.

"I don't care! FIGHT ME!!!" The man yelled brutally.

'Urg... How stubborn..!'

"Fine... Are you participating in the tournament?" Rem asked.

"Of course I am! I participate in every tournament this school has to offer!!!" The man said proudly.

"What a coincidence. I'm also participating in the tournament. If you want to fight, we can fight in the tournament. I'm too tired right now... You know, I just came from the infirmary okay? Give me a break..." Rem groaned.

"Okay, fine! You better not be lying!!!" The man yelled, turning his back on Rem.

The crowd slowly dispersed. Rem looked at Michael and coldly stared at him, using some of her killing intent. Michael saw Rem and felt cold sweat drip from his forehead. he trembled a little bit, unable to move or speak.

'I-I think I've offended someone I shouldn't...' Michael thought, scared for his life.

Rem saw the fear in Michael's eyes and got rid of her killing intent. As Rem exited the place, Michael dropped to the ground and sighed in relief.

'What have I gotten myself into..? How troublesome...' Rem sighed deeply as she walked back to the training room to meet her other group members.

After a few minutes, Rem arrived at the training room. When she entered, nobody was in sight.

'Where are they?' Rem thought.

She saw a note hidden behind one of the double doors. The note had magic covered all around it so whoever finds the note cannot read the note nor touch it. Rem picked the note up and got rid of magic around the note. She began to read the note.

[Of course, you found this note. After all, you're Rem. If you are reading this, we have already left. We hope you have rested well! From, Ver!]

'That can't be helped... It's already pretty late. For the rest of today, I'll take a good rest. Tomorrow is the tournament...' Rem thought, using her fire magic to burn the note.

After burning the note, Rem walked back to her dorm room and slept.
