Chapter 19 - Accident

Lunch is now over. Rem followed Karina to the Magic Training Area.

"Whoa... It's huge." Rem was surprised.

"Yup. This is where people train their magic." Karina said.

"Alright people. This is the element orb. Just place your hand on the orb and the orb would show you which element you have. After that, you will place your hand on this magic power orb. This orb will show you how much magic power you have. Finally, we will test how fast you can cast your spells. Just to let you know, we will be taking this magic test in alphabetical order so please be patient and wait your turn." The teacher explained.

•••

It's been almost an hour.

'I guess Rina and I are the last ones... I wonder if I can disguise my element...'

"Karina, please put your hand on this orb."

Karina did what she was told to do. The orb glowed and became a light green color.

"Karina... Wind Element." The teacher wrote down the details in her workbook.

"Put your hand on the magic orb."

Karina put her hand on the magic orb. The orb showed the number 346.

"Hmm... Magic power, C Rank." The teacher also writes this down in her workbook.

"Now cast a spell and aim at these magic dummies." The teacher said, getting ready to use the stopwatch.

Karina nodded and started casting her wind spell. She managed to destroy one of the five dummies.

"Magic casting... Around a minute. Also C Rank." The teacher noted everything down.

Karina went back and stood next to Rem.

"Do your best Remie!" Karina whispered to Rem.

"Alright. Last but not least, Rem. Please put your hand on the element orb."

'Hmm... I hope my disguise works.'

The orb glowed into the color black and then shattered.

"..."

Everyone stared at Rem, shocked.

"Ummm... There might be a problem with the element orb. Please wait for a moment. I will get another orb."

A few minutes later, the teacher came back with another element orb.

"Try putting your hand on this new element orb."

Rem put her hand on the new element orb but the orb still turned black and then it shattered.

Everyone was whispering to each other, wondering why the orb shattered.

'What's causing the orb to shatter?' The teacher thought to herself.

"Since the orb turned black before shattering, I'll assume your element is shadow." The teacher made sure to note that the orbs kept shattering whenever Rem put her hand on the element orb.

"Now put your hand on the magic orb."

Rem put her hand on the magic orb. The magic orb shattered.

"..."

'What is happening? Why do the orbs keep shattering? Is my disguise not working?' Rem thought curiously.

{Your disguise is indeed working for the element orb but not the magic orb. Your magic power is too strong. That's why the magic orb is shattering. The element orb shattered because your disguise was too strong.}

'... That's just absurd.'

"Forget about testing your magic power. Just cast a spell on the magic dummies."

Rem cast her shadow chains to skill on the dummies. In a second, the chains surrounded all the magic dummies and destroyed all of them into pieces.

Everyone was shocked. They couldn't help but open their mouths wide open.

"Umm... Magic casting time is one second. SSS Rank. Please wait here. I need to call the principal." The teacher hurried to inform the principal about what had happened. After the teacher left, everyone surrounded Rem.

"Wow, that was amazing!"

"How did you cast a spell that fast?"

"Why did the orbs shatter?"

"What's your magic power?"

"Can we be friends?"

"..."

'So annoying...'

"Can you leave her alone?" Karina said in an angry and menacing voice.

Everyone backed up and left Rem alone.

"Thanks."

"If they bother you again, tell me. I'll beat them up." Karina showed Rem her fist.

"Hahaha. I'm the one who is supposed to protect you since I'm stronger than you." Rem laughed.

"I will become stronger than you one day!" Karina pouted.

"Yeah, yeah. Good luck with that." Rem smiled.

The principal walked into the Magic Training Room with their teacher. Everyone stopped what they were doing. All of them were staring at the principal. They only saw the principal twice, which was at the beginning of the year and when she was explaining about choosing a Faction.

"Rem. Follow me to my office. We need to have an important discussion about this matter. You don't mind me taking your student for a while, do you?" The principal faced their teacher.

"Of course not. Rem, you may go." The teacher replied.

"Good. Come with me, Rem." The principal started walking towards her office.

"May we talk after I take the strength exam?" Rem asked.

Everyone worried about Rem's life, including their teacher. They knew how strict the principle was.

"Of course. Please come to my office at 3:00 P.M." The principal replied.

"Got it."

Everyone watched as the principal left.

...

"Whoa! Did you just talk back to the principal?"

"Aren't you afraid of the principal?"

"Have you meet the principal before?"

"How did you get the courage to talk to the principal?"

"Teacher. Aren't we supposed to take the strength test now?" Rem asked, ignoring her classmate's questions.

"Oh, um... Yes! Let's get going. Follow me to the Strength Training Area."

Everyone stopped talking to Rem and followed the teacher.
