Chapter 7 - Chapter 7: Today, You Were Lucky You Did Not Perish

"What was that about?" asked Prince Maxen with a frown as Elizabella slowly got up with the black cub's back facing the Prince.

"You can rest assured, Your Royal Highness, I may have overheard your conversation just now, but you also overheard mine. You have something that you do not want to be repeated, I have something that I do not want be repeated. You have a secret, I have a secret. I will not say anything of what I have seen or heard today. All I ask is for you not to mention my family's pet had followed me to school today.

"It is against school regulations to bring any pets to the Academy. I simply did not want to get caught, so I left him here and came back during lunch to call my household to bring him back home. I did not have enough time to call beforehand."

Elizabella carefully placed the young cub in her bag while trying to avoid his face from being seen. The Prince did not care for the cub as he noticed the bag full of empty wrappers and containers, making him feel speechless at the sight. He wondered if the black cat had followed her due to her amount of food in her bag. He had never even heard of a student bringing to school that many snacks.

His conclusion of the girl in front of him was that she must be lazy and didn't like to learn. He even assumed that the way she regarded him must be due to the fact that she did not know her proper etiquettes. He made a face before he spoke again.

"Fine. I will not say anything; however, if I ever hear anything about my conversation with Lady Margarette, I will be back looking for you," said the Prince as Elizabella could feel his anger in his words while she though it was not her fault that he got dumped!

"If you ever heard this conversation being repeated, it would not have come from me. You might feel embarrassed but the fact that I was caught is very embarrassing for me."

"How is this even embarrassing to you?" replied the Prince with a scoff.

"...You two caught me due to my stomach grumbling because I was hungry. How is that not embarrassing?" said Elizabella with a slight blush on her face as she swung her bookbag on her back carefully. "It is still lunchtime so I will leave first, Your Royal Highness."

Elizabella turned to leave with her graceful steps and as much dignity she could muster, making the Prince stare at her.

"...She really does feel familiar. But, why did she call me 'Your Royal Highness' when the whole academy calls me 'Prince Wolf'? We even had a long conversation and she did not once try to get familiar with me. At least she was considerate of my situation... sigh... I guess this means that I am going to marry whoever my Royal Grandfather had picked for me..."

**********

Elizabella had left the Prince quickly because she felt Walliams quickly approaching her. She did not want anyone to see him even though she knew that he would come in his shadow form while leaping from shadow to shadow. She also wanted to have time to eat so she came to the edge of the woods she was in and stopped.

She saw a shadow approaching her rather hastily as she got her bag ready. Walliams had practically flown to her shadow as their link became more clear. He could feel his Lady's seething anger, making him freeze for a moment before gulping and appearing in front of her while kneeling on one knee and bowing low.

"My Lady, please forgive your servant. It was due to my carelessness that this happened. I hope my brother has not been too much for you..." Walliams had to stop because he felt a looming presence above his head, making him look up in nervousness.

"Take your brother, Walliams. He has left me without snacks so I must hurry to see if I can buy some food and snacks for class. I have already planned on coming home late, so if I cannot satisfy my hunger now, I will surely suffer later on. Make sure you take him home and that he does not do this again in the future. A second time will not be tolerated."

Elizabella turned and quickly, yet with poise, left towards the school, leaving Walliams alone with the petrified cub who began to stir. Walliams looked down at the black cub who seemed to come to life in his hands now that his Lady had left, making him sigh.

"Little one, you should count your blessings. You somehow managed to anger our Lady and lived to tell the tale. It is not easy to touch her nerves, but since the death of her family, her emotions have become a bit unstable. You must learn from now that it is not wise to anger our Lady, especially if your intentions are to get near her so she will adopt you.

"I fear that if ever anyone of us got her angry enough, she would go on a murderous rampage where no one would be safe. Do you know? Our Lady is very powerful and gets even more powerful based on her emotions. Her hands can heal or recreate anything on this mortal plane when she is calm and peaceful; however, those same healing hands can destroy all life with just a touch. There is no living person that knows how to stop her when she turns 'Black.'

"I am certain that you must have experienced it first hand if it took you so long to respond from her anger. Since you and I are beasts, our instincts can pick up these sorts of things, like knowing when there is someone more dangerous than ourselves. If that other student had expressed any interest in you other then initial curiosity, then I fear that the student in question would not exist in this world nor any evidence that he was here.

"In the future, you must be careful of our Lady. She is kind and can be gentle, but when she is angered, no one wants to see the aftermath. You must remember, today, you were lucky you did not perish."
