His sword flashed white against the creature as it fell dead into the lake's water, Yuki froze for a split second before she was on Kai with her dagger. But Kai simply side-stepped her attack, he grabbed her arm twisting her over his shoulder, "You're so stupid" she said as her fingertips clawed his neck. Kai reeled backward as Yuki's wounds burned into his skin "What did you do to me!?" He screamed at her as he clawed at them, but she only smiled at him. "I don't think you know who you're dealing with still," She said Kai reached out to try and grab Yuki but she twisted her hand into a fist and he crumpled to the ground gasping for air "What….are you?" He choked.
Yuki smiled playfully "I'm the daughter of the Sun Tribe's leader and the daughter of the Moon Trible's late Assasin. What are you? A simple member of the Nightmare Tribe?" She growled at him, she snapped her fingers and her claw marks lit up with white flames. His body soon was engulfed in the white flames as they licked his clothing and skin until all that remained of Kai was ash, Miku ran back to her sister, her eyes beamed with delight. "You're my favorite Yuki-sama!" She said and gave Yuki a hug, Yuki smiled at her sister.
Yuki scanned the students who were quiet as they stared at her, "No one messes with me or my sister. Got it?" She hissed at them. Everyone nodded as they all backed up more, Yuki spotted Ashton looking directly at her, his eyes seemed to hold a sadness of something Yuki didn't know of, but she knew how she could figure it out.
"You" She pointed to Ashton, her nails were normal length now. Ashton felt his heart beat faster as she locked her eyes on him, "Yes?" He answered her. She and Miku walked up to him, now that Yuki was closer to him Ashton could see how beautiful she really was. Yuki had beautifully long light brown hair, the ends of her hair were dyed white and it had two streaks of gold in the front of her hair. "What is your name?" She asked him, 'damn...she's hot' Ashton thought to himself, Yuki snapped her fingers in his face and Ashton realized she was waiting for an answer.
Miku snickered behind her sister at him "Are you scared of my big sister?" She asked, "N-no," He said and then cleared his throat. "Name's Ashton, Ashton Kausani. Most of my friends just call me Ash" Yuki smiled at him and bowed her head, motioning her sister to do the same. "Thank you then, Ashton, for saving my sister from those...Hexes" She whispered the last part. Ashton shook his head "It is I who should be thanking you, Ms. Kain! If it wasn't for your magic we'd all be seriously injured or worse." Yuki's face turned a light shade of pink, just as Yuki opened her mouth to say something Miku interrupted her.
"I've got an idea! Why doesn't Ash help us unpack our stuff from your car Yuki?" She said and looked at both of them, Yuki's face shifted to another shade of pink again. "Y-you don't have to Ash, I think Miku and I can handle-" Ashton cut Yuki off, "I think it would be nice to help you guys out! As long as you don't mind my two friends Jax and Kat coming too?" Jax and Kat waved their hands from where they stood in the crowd that had now gathered around them. Yuki gathered her courage and said "Sure! The more the merrier!" As soon as Miku heard Yuki say yes she grabbed Ashton's hand and ran off "Come on then! The last one to grand mother's house is a rotten egg!" She called back to Yuki, Kat and Jax walked up to Yuki "Show us the way?" Kat asked, Yuki nodded and followed Miku back into the forest. Yuki walked quickly through the forest as Kat and Jax struggled to keep up with her pace "Hey could we slow down a little?" Kat asked a little out of breath, Yuki stopped and waited for the two of them to catch up. "Sorry, I'm used to Miku being far ahead of me and I have to catch up"
Soon a beaten path became clearer as the three of them entered a small clearing of trees, "So is that how you get to your house?" Jax asked looking at the path. It was worn by the recent rain storms because not many people used the path; it was basically a game trail for animals. "No, that's not how we get there" Yuki answered him politely as she lifted her hands to her armored shoulder and the game trail vanished as if it had never been there. She then tapped the armored crest and the real path appeared, "There" Yuki said and walked down the path. It was much clearer than the enchanted one, as they walked Kat noticed that Yuki's armor was slowly turning back into her clothing "So your armor is that also enchanted?" She questioned.
"Yes, everything that Miku and I own has been enchanted by myself," Yuki said, not looking back at them, "That must have taken a lot of Mana, right?" Jax asked. He covered his mouth the second he spat the question out, Yuki laughed when she looked back at him. "Please you can ask as many questions as you want Jax!" She smiled as Kat also started laughing, "Gotcha!" Miku jumped out of the foliage and collided with her sister. "Miku! S-stop it!" Yuki laughed as Miku pretended to slay her sister, then Ashton also jumped out and scared his friends. "Well, this is an introduction!" Ashton chuckled as Miku helped Yuki up, Miku was smiling and laughing as was everyone else.
'It's strange… Miku is acting like a normal kid even though she could have died a few minutes ago... Maybe something like this has happened before?' He shook the idea away, Yuki and Miku had gone through so much already, maybe they handled things like this differently than normal people. Miku and Yuki lead them to the house just as Yuki's watch beeped, "It's already six, Miku you go grab the key and let Ashton and his friends inside. I'll close the path" She said and handed the key to her sister, Yuki stayed behind watching her sister let the others inside. She turned and walked back to the path, she spread her hands out palms facing the forest. "Thank you for your help mother forest" Yuki whispered as the path became overgrown with the foliages of the forest. Yuki watched the path become part of the forest again and then left, walking back to the house to join her new friends and her sister.
Ashton was sitting next Jax while Miku showed Kat her room upstairs. Jax smiled as he looked around the house "I've always seen the outside of this place, to actually be in it is kinda cool" He said as Yuki came into the large living room, everything her grandmother had owned wasn't there anymore and Yuki's old home was smaller than the mansion so there was lots of space for Miku and her to move around in. "Um… This might sound weird but do you and Miku know your spirit animals?" Ashton asked, keeping his eyes low, "Um… well, we-" Yuki stopped. The answer was yes she knew but Yuki couldn't bring herself to say anything about their secret.
Ashton saw Yuki's face when she stopped speaking, "You don't have to answer if you don't want to." He said quietly but Yuki shook her head, "I know our spirit animals but. The last time Miku and I said what they were....-" Yuki remembered the last time they let people close to them, "I know this might sound strange but, We can't trust anyone just yet" Yuki turned to see Miku standing with Kat at the bottom of the stairs, Miku walked up to her sister and held her hand. "My sister is right, I might only be ten but. We know that this secret must be shared between both of us. Until we know what's going on we'll tell you" She said and hugged Yuki's hip, Ashton swore he saw Miku cry a little but Yuki's hand made it hard to see her sister's face.
Jax was a little annoyed now "Well if it's that important maybe we can earn your trust, or are you 'too powerful' to require us?" He said bitterly, Ashton put his hand on Jax's shoulder but Jax was raving mad now "Is it only because Ash was able to protect your sister that we are here?" Jax was standing now, his pent-up anger had come from somewhere "Hey Jax! I don't know why your so upset but please stop it" Kat said, pushing Jax away from Yuki and Miku. Ashton looked back at Yuki and Miku, Yuki had gone quiet but her face unreadable. "Jax, if you feel so unwanted or unneeded then feel free to leave my house anytime you want to" Yuki's voice cut the air, Jax stumbled for words as there was a long silence following Yuki's statement.
Finally, Yuki stepped towards the door and opened it "I think it's time for you to leave" She said not meeting Ashton's eyes, Miku ran back up the stairs Kat could hear Miku slam the door to her bedroom. Jax was the first to leave, Kat nodded to Yuki and left mouthing 'sorry' to her but Yuki still didn't look up at her barely saying goodbye. Now Ashton stood in the house alone with Yuki, he started to leave when Yuki closed the door "Wait." She said now looking into his eyes, Ashton felt compelled to stop his movements as she walked towards him like a predator stalking its prey. He felt his hand's start to sweat a little, "Ash… please don't take this as a sign that we shouldn't be friends" Yuki stood in front of him and her eyes swam in the golden light that bathed the house from the European style lamps on the walls.
Yuki pushed some hair away from his face, Ashton then noticed how her eyes shifted from a light blue to a darker black. Yuki leaned closer to him but just before he could pull away Yuki hugged him, "Thank you for protecting my sister" Yuki said hugging Ashton tighter, for a second he had almost thought she was going to kiss him but a hug was better. He smiled even though she couldn't see "I'm just being a good friend to a wonderful new girl and her sister, I think nice impressions are the best when making new friends." Yuki smiled to herself as she let go of Ashton "Then let's hang out tomorrow? We could use some help moving the heavier boxes from the moving van that comes later that day," She asked.
Ashton nodded, "S-sure can Kat come?" He asked as he walked out the door, Yuki smiled as she watched Ash and Kat drag, Jax, out the gate and down the street. Once they were out of sight she closed the door and ran upstairs, "Miku?" She called through her sister's door "Go away!" Miku shouted back. Yuki heard her sister lock the door, feeling stressed Yuki sat down outside the door. Yuki waited for hours until Miku opened the door, her eyes were still full of tears Yuki got on her knees and hugged Miku "I'm sorry Miku, I'm so sorry!" She said holding her sister in her arms. "Miku I know this is hard for you… please if it's too much I can-" "No!"Miku said, "Don't wipe my memories, I don't want to lose you again." Yuki smiled as she looked at her sister and nodded "Alright, I won't unless your life is truly in danger" Yuki watched Miku until she was asleep in Yuki's room.
"Oh, Miku...I'm sorry" Yuki choked as she cut a small part of Miku's hair and watched her sister's memories for what must have been the hundredth time. She watched their father's faded figure walking down the hallways of their old home, his smile couldn't compare to their mom. Yuki smiled in spite of what she knew came next. Screaming from Miku's old room and the streaks of blood Miku had seen Yuki walk out with when their father was drunk. "I know I promised but this isn't the life I wanted for you" Yuki placed both hands over her sister's closed eyes as the room filled with bright light Yuki watched her memories vanish.
That night as Yuki went to sleep she watched Miku's painful memories of their past finally disappear from her sister's mind, Miku wouldn't live the tortured lives they'd lived with their father. "Now I'm the only one who'll be dying in vain" She laughed a little "Dying in vain...Isn't this wonderful mother? It's ironic that we will both die in vain of our past lives" Yuki watched her clock strike one-in-the-morning and drifted off to sleep.
Beep! Beep! Yuki's alarm went off at nine, Miku was still sleeping soundly in her room. As of the previous night, Miku would no longer have records of what happened all she'd know was a stitched idea of yesterday's events. Yuki walked down the stairs looking at the sunrise from the drawing-room, it was the only room Yuki really liked. It's ornate window panes gave her a view of the entire back years and the gate, the stone was covered in moss and vines but it had held up against the weather that Yuki's grandmother had told her about in letters, "I wonder. Did she plan this…?" Yuki had admired her grandmother when she was younger because they'd shared many similarities. Yuki could sense people with evil intentions whereas her grandmother could sense what actions would take place because of those intentions. "Mother, are you watching from up there? I'll be strong enough soon… To rid the world of father's cruel hand and reclaim your shadowed throne." As a tear slid down her cheek Yuki smiled into her reflection in the glass window.
The sun was rising as Yuki walked along the beaten garden path to the gates of her house, there was mist still lingering around the lush forest greenery. Yuki could hear the cars passing on the road and the chatter of academy students making their way to the school, she watched from the mist as two students walked past the rusted iron gates whispering to each other. Party girls Yuki thought as she listened to their conversation on her side of the gates. "Did you hear? That freak of a girl will be attending our prestigious school!" The girl closest to Yuki said in a tone that made Yuki's blood boil just a little, the other girl laughed "She's just a show-off! From what I heard she kicked Jaxson and his friends out of her house the minute he 'disrespected' her! She's a little spoiled bitch" Yuki had heard enough from both of them, she opened the gates and stepped out in front of both of them. The mist had cleared more so they could see her clearly, they both stopped stone-cold as soon as they saw her, "So, I'm a bitch? Let me know when your lives take a downward slope and your mother is killed. Then tell me who's the bitch then. If you want to say things about me do it in battle, or more exactly-" Yuki cast a small flame around her eyes "-When I beat the shit out of you."
One of the girls just smiled, her bright pink highlights shifted as she walked up to Yuki, "You're just gunning for Ashton cause your full of yourself, so let me be the first person to tell you that he doesn't care about you or anyone." She said and walked away as her friend walked around Yuki and caught up to the pink-haired girl. Smiling to herself Yuki glared at them until they had the nerve to start talking again "Just remember who your messing with" She said under her breath, Yuki walked towards the house again and closed the gates. The school said that she would start after summer break had ended, Yuki hadn't liked the idea but went with it because she was pretty sure it was out of pity she was starting later.
Miku was standing on the front porch in her pajamas and her favorite stuffed cat she'd gotten from their mom on her birthday. "What were you doing?" She asked, stepping down the stairs as Yuki sat down on the last step, "Some students from the academy had some very bright opinions of our moving here but I took care of it" Miku laughed a little "You threatened them right?" She asked Yuki couldn't help but laugh too "Sort of they were the kinda girls you really wanna slap but the moment you do it's your ass in the office." "Well then… maybe you should make more friends to help you stand up to them?" Miku said with a chuckle as Yuki picked her up and put Miku over her shoulders, "Watch your head there ms. Miku" Yuki joked as the two of them headed back inside and started breakfast in the kitchen.
Miku had insisted they make pancakes because she could help mix the batter, "Don't drop the eggs Miku!" Yuki said as she watched her sister balance two raw eggs in the air with her magic, they hovered over the mixing bowl Yuki was holding on her arms. "Now gently crack them," She said Miku lowered her arm as the eggs became closer to the bowl they started to shake "It's getting heavy," Miku said concerned as small cracks went through the shell of the eggs. She broke one shell and the yoke fell right into the bowl, Yuki nodded her approval.
