Chapter 2 - Mirrors lie

For a cave this was as simple as they came, few rocks here and there. Big rocks and little rocks. Some dried up grass clippings. Nothing to really lay down on as this pain got worse. With his head pounding in pain, trying to find somewhere to sit down Jon noticed a small covered object in the corner.

Head throbbing so badly that Jon was thinking he was starting to hallucinate paws and fur. He had to lay down quickly. Curled up like a baby he rocked as his hallucinations got worst. Jon thought he could smell new things. Things that were not there just awhile ago. Who was here? Has to be someone bringing in things that he could smell. What else could explain this?

Jon could also hear little feet scurrying further down the cave. Tiny little paws, paws that carried a sweet berry. A delicious fat ripe berry.

Jon could hear his tummy growl from the thought of this berry. But how could he know about the tiny mouse collecting food? Oh so delicious food....

The pain he felt finally eased up after what felt like hours. Even more hungry then before he could still smell the berries in the cave. But his body would not move.

He tried to sit up but was having a hard time. As if his mind told his body to do one thing yet his body did another. He could smell even more new scents but could not open his eyes just yet. Jon eventually got on all fours and opened his eyes.

Seeing that covered object to his left he went right to it. He imagined that he was dragging himself, as he was still on his hands and knees, yet he felt light as he made his way over.

The hallucination was even worst as he could see his hand as a paw yet could not use his hand at all. Slightly frustrated he grabbed the old covering with his mouth and tugged it.

Shock was an understatement as he uncovered the object revealing a mirror. Jon gasped yet no sound could come out of his mouth. Reality could not be real, his mind could not handle this, he fainted.

Once again waking up in front of the mirror to still see a different image was insane. The questions keep popping up yet no answers at all. His head started to hurt again. His tummy still growling.

What he saw was not Jon as he knew it, now Jon was a small little black and red fox cub. No way this mirror was right. Has to be a circus mirror, Right? he questioned. His mind keeps telling him he is Jon yet the mirror in front of him was reflecting a different vision. Who is lying to him? his mind? or the mirror? He kept asking himself as if he was going to have an answer if he asked enough.

Oh so adorable he was, no doubt. Small little ears. Red eyes that looked just like the ruby around his neck. Beautiful black shiny fur that sparkled just like the diamonds on the collar. His feet were red. Not your typical fox of course.

Once again Jon passed out.
