Chapter 8 - Bad Omen To Good Results (2)

Then his butler's voice,

"Worry not miss Violette, I shall inform the Mr. & Mrs. Finseth about their son's behavior. I assure you that this will be the last time Xander will attempt to propose to you."

"Let us hope so."

"Farewell..." The butler gets inside the car and left with the enraged Xander tied up in the back of the car trying to escape.

"It took us the whole noon to wait for his butler to show up. Luckily he didn't wake up when his butler got here." Mercer stated.

Parker sighs, "I know, and we're glad that the butler gave us the money to buy another window."

"It was that creep's fault after all," Esther added.

Mercer asks, "But why did you told Asher to buy the glass for the window when..."

"It's just like you said, he's a hard-working man. I need someone like him for a job like this." Esther answered.

Asher comes back with a new glass, he easily installed it after he took out the broken glass.

"Good job." Esther complimented, "I think you deserve a break from all the work you've done so far."

"It wasn't that hard," Asher replied.

"I insist now go. Sit down, and I'll read your work later." She pushed Asher to the library and thought, "Thanks again for helping me... Romeo."

Mercer was convinced, "I think they'll get along just fine."

"That's what I thought too." Parker giggled.

Later on, Esther reads the story Asher made,

"Let's see what we have here..."

It was the year 2003, I went to a party at my friend's house. I was so excited to come here, finished all my homework just in time to go here then I saw my best friend flirting with her crush.

Minutes passed by although I didn't notice that it was actually hours that really passed by, most of my friends were starting to get drunk, some took their clothes off and jumped into the pool, others are just making out somewhere private.

Of course, I was having fun too, my best friend was shooting her water gun like crazy saying that she's a cowboy while riding on her crush like it's her horse. Things were going insane then the lights went out but they went back again.

We suddenly heard the screaming of a girl that came from the basement. A few people including me check it if something was going on, then we saw a guy... Shouting that his balls were crushed.

That guy earned the title of "Nutcracker", then we heard another scream on the pool. We saw blood in the pool, but it was actually red paint. I had enough of these misunderstandings that are happening.

There was a guy who we thought had a broken leg but was actually had a tree branch stuck inside his pants, that's what you get for intentionally jumping off the treehouse. My best friend was already sleeping while her crush was looking at her, not that I'm jealous.

People were having fun until they got tired until I was the last one standing. I had no choice but to take a nap as well. I woke up in a hospital bed, covered in bruises, I never knew I had a black eye, and an investigator was sitting next to me.

I told him what we were doing, we were just throwing a normal crazy party for teens although we had some misunderstandings. The investigator told me that I took a hit on my head so I can't really remember what actually happened, so he told me what really happened.

A guy was found dead with his crotch cut off from him, the red paint in the pool was really blood with floating bodies, a guy had 21 broken bones in his body after being pushed off the treehouse, but the most painful thing I heard was my best friend was shot by her crush and said that I killed the suspects including my best friend's crush that entered the house while the lights went out.

They were presumed to be serial killers, and I was found innocent because of what happened. There were a few survivors including me but I doubt that we would talk about what happened that night.

And so the story lives on, it was then they called it the Midnight Party Massacre but I don't care, it was in the past so there's nothing to talk about while I sit here and write in my diary so I can't forget what happened in college.

"... And so that was it, that took a turn even I didn't expect." Esther stood up and walks to Asher who was sitting and drinking a cup of tea.

Asher asked her, "How was it?"

"It was good. The first person was a good choice." Esther commented, "Humor tries to merge with horror for a bit but the merge faded and it didn't last long for the entire story. But I won't go any longer, so I'm going to give you 4.6 out of 10 points."

"At least it went higher at some point and next time I know I'll get better," Asher replied.

"I'm glad you feel that way, and I hope you'll come here every--" Her words were stopped because of Mercer thinking of where to put the book.

"Okay, where to put the book? Where to put the book? Where to put the book..." Mercer lowers his voice as soon as he saw Esther looking viciously at him.

His nervousness increases every time he looks at either the shelf or Esther. And when he put back the book, Esther did nothing for a moment then she starts running. Mercer kneels down in a fetal position, but Esther jumps over his back because she was chasing the person behind him.

He looked at the shelf and was glad he put a fantasy book in the fantasy section. He also looked at the book that was left behind by the person behind him and saw a History book that was in the Physics books.

He said to himself, "Is that guy really that stupid? He'd be glad I'm not the one chasing him, cause I would be shouting at him right now."

"So, are you still scared?" Asher asked.

"After all I've seen on this day? No way, stupid people need a person like her to check if people are doing something stupid."

"I still don't know about that."

"What do you mean?"

"I mean I agree with you about the chasing and stuff, but what if it's just a misunderstanding, you do know that we shouldn't jump to conclusions."

"That may be true but Esther's got to do what she has to do. There's no librarian who isn't annoyed with people carelessly using books let alone Esther."

"You like organized people, don't you?"

"Yes I like to be friends with organized people and I support her demonic version of chasing people, it's kinda hilarious."

They both agreed in laughter, and Parker smiles at them and thought, "I have a good feeling about them and her, something tells me that we'll all get along just fine."

The four of them had a little talk for the whole afternoon then they suddenly heard a shout,

"HEY GUYS! THERE'S A BRAWL GOING ON AT THE OPEN FIELD!"

Parker wondered, "Why does every event always happen in the open field?"

"Yeah, every fight, confession, sports event, holiday party, and random stuff always happen in the open field," Mercer replied.

"Weird enough that the field is always clean, no one leaves any mess. There's only a bleacher there that was left behind years ago, they said it was a perfect addition on the field." Asher added.

Esther knew where this was going so she insisted, "Come on, let's go see that fight."

"Wait am I hearing things? You want to see it?" Parker asked.

"We should at least see what's going on, and I think Asher would find inspiration there."

"I'll stay at the library, someone needs to manage here."

"Right, because I was going to say it's not for the kid's eyes."

"Say what!?"

"Let's go and see that brawl."

"Stop ignoring me!!"

The three of them went to the open field where the brawl was getting uglier by the minute.

"Woah, does no one care about stopping this war zone? Dang, there's not even a cop here." Mercer commented.

"So that means the fight was just getting started," Asher replied.

Esther looked at the fight, and said, "I've seen better and worse. I can't believe these guys, they can't even dodge a punch."

Then they noticed a girl throwing a person to the others that were still standing, then she punched every single boy in the face.

Mercer giggled, "Of course it's her."

"Who's that?" Esther asked.

"That's my other cousin, her name is Heather. She's a kickboxer and the roughest member of our family." Asher answered.

The girl was the last one standing, they all cheered for her. When they got close to her, she was starting to laugh out loud and shouted,

"WOMEN EMPOWERMENT RULES!"

"That's Heather alright," Mercer said.
