Chapter 255 - A New Spell

"Before we begin, allow me to show my respect by entering my strongest form." Takamori said.

The blades on each arm suddenly began to glow before merging together, creating two long katanas for Takamori to hold. Both katanas had white wrappings which covered the entire handle. The katana held in Takamori's right hand had the color blue located at the center while the katana in his left hand had the color red.

"You've still got something up your sleeve, don't you?" Takamori asked, giving me an intrigued look.

"Yeah but I don't know if I can pull it off since it's still just an idea I came up with recently. It's a pretty big risk to be perfectly honest." I answered looking down at Genki.

"One must face risks if they wish to grow."

I let out a small laugh at Takamori's comment, "Ha! You're absolutely right about that, Takamori! Now's not the time for me to be getting cold feet, it's the time to take great risks!"

"That's what I like to hear!" Takamori grinned as he stood back and watched me.

I extended my arm out, keeping Genki at a distance and began to concentrate my aura. Small flames began flickering all around Genki's blade. Both Steven and Takamori's eyes widened as Genki began to glow with small flames.

"Flame Slash has always been one of my best attacks. The problem with it is that I can only use it whenever I'm attacking or else the flames will just go away. So how do you think one might overcome that obstacle?" I asked.

"You would use fire magic nonstop to keep the blade aflame. To do something like that would be nigh impossible for the average adventurer." Takamori stated.

I smiled at Takamori's comment, "it's a good thing I'm not an average adventurer then!"

The small flames around Genki grew in size until completely surrounding him, making it look like he too had an aura of his own. The flames surrounding Genki burned bright, illuminating the entire area.

"Since this spell is more than just Flame Slash, I should probably give it a name of its own, don't you think?" I asked, raising Genki up so I could get a better look at him.

"What name did you have in mind?" Takamori asked.

"I'm thinking… Blazing Blade."

Takamori grinned, "a fine name for a fine spell. Now let us see what it is capable of!"
