The sound of waves crashing against the shore snapped my eyes open. I raised my head up off the sand and looked around at my surroundings. In front of me was the sea that led towards thick fog clouds. Behind me was a jungle where no light could reach because of all the trees. Wooden planks were located all around the beach, some even floated far out into the ocean.
"I guess that's one way to get here." I said, picking myself up and getting back onto my feet.
If it weren't for the thick fog, it might have actually been a great view. The floating ship pieces scattered across the sea weren't doing any favors for the view either. Despite that, it was still a rather tranquil view and made me grow tired.
"I'm sure everyone made it out okay. I just have to go and find them!" I said to myself.
I let out a tired yawn before turning around just to be met with a young girl staring at me from behind a tree in the jungle. Her hair was a bright pink color that looked well kept. She had a curious look on her face as she observed me from afar. Right as I was about to say something, the girl noticed that I saw her and quickly turned around so she could run further into the jungle.
"Hey, wait up!" I shouted, running into the jungle in an attempt to chase after the girl.
Despite the girl's small appearance, she was much faster than me. Even with me running as fast as I possibly could, she just kept getting further away from me until she finally left my line of sight. I pushed through the bush in front of me in one last desperate attempt to see if she was close enough to see but instead was met with a small clearing.
I stopped my pursuit and looked around the area. My eyes had adjusted to the darkness created by the jungle so the sudden brightness caused me to cover my eyes. After waiting for my eyes to adjust after a couple of seconds, I straightened myself and began looking around. Now that I could actually see the sky, I realized that it was becoming dark and that I would need to create a small campfire for the night.
I ventured into the jungle, looking all around for types of wood I could use to create my fire. Despite being surrounded by trees, it was difficult finding any good pieces of wood I could use. With how dark it was, I ended up constantly tripping over something.
"This reminds me of the time before I entered the tree." I said to myself, grabbing onto a piece of wood that was laying on the ground.
After searching for an hour, I finally managed to get all the wood I needed and returned back to the small clearing. I placed down the pieces of wood I had collected and crouched down. I raised my hand and aimed my finger at the makeshift campfire I made. Within an instant, a small flame shot out from my fingertip and created a fire.
Right as I was about to sit down, the sound of bushes shaking again caught my attention. I quickly unsheathed Genki and turned towards the bushes that were shaking violently. I readied myself in the case a monster would run out from the bushes. I held my breath and tightened my grip as the bushes continued to shake.
"Why is there a campfire here?"
Steven suddenly fell out from the bushes but quickly jumped up and began brushing off all the leaves that were on him. When he finally finished brushing off the leaves, he looked up and saw me staring at him.
A big grin appeared on both of our faces as we walked over to each other. I put Genki away in his sheath as I got closer and bumped fists with Steven when I finally got to him. Seeing a familiar face was what I needed right now so seeing him was a huge relief.
"That was certainly one way to get on the island!" Steven laughed.
"I said the same thing!" I said, laughing along with Steven.
