Before the boy could even react, I had already appeared beside him and punched him on the side of his head. The impact was so large that a smoke cloud had been created from how hard the boy hit the ground.
"I hit him?" I asked, starting to fall back towards the ground.
"It's a useful spell but it only lasts for a certain amount of time. With that boy, he can only use it for two minutes before it goes into a cooldown state." Genki said, dumping a whole load of information onto me.
"Really? I expected more to be honest." I said, cracking my knuckles.
Suddenly, the smoke cloud was cut in half and revealed the boy. In his hand was the scythe he used against me last time we fought. He spat out some blood to the side before returning his gaze to me.
"You've gotten so much stronger. Usually I'd enjoy these kinds of battles but now isn't the time. The boss is counting on us to bring that girl to him."
"Why though? Why is she so important to him?" I asked, tightening my grip on Genki.
"It doesn't concern you!" The boy said, charging at me head-on.
I quickly blocked his attack and pushed him back, "well it kind of does now since I'm involved with protecting her!"
The boy began to spin the blade of his scythe around as a means of attack. The only thing I could do was dodge and block and wait for some kind of opening. As the flurry of attacks continued, I saw Ichiro and Akari in the corner of my eye, trying to catch their breaths.
"I owe him everything!" I could see the sincerity in the boy's eyes as he tried to attempt another attack, this time leaving himself open.
I sidestepped the boy's attack and struck his side with my fist. My strike caused him to let out a small yelp before hitting the top of my shoulder with his own fist. Genki flew out of my hand and landed right next to where Ichiro and Akari were.
I pushed off the ground with my hands to avoid the boy's next attack. When I looked up I noticed that he was no longer carrying his scythe. I raised my arms to block the boy's attack but ended up easily being broken. The boy clenched his fist and prepared to hit me with all the strength he had left.
A sudden blur crossed my eyes and the next thing I knew, Akari was in front of me. She had hit the boy right before he could hit me. I let out a sigh of relief before straightening myself.
"Sorry for the wait, he was a lot more then we bargained for. At least his spell is still on cooldown." Akari said.
"Don't jinx it." Ichiro said, stepping beside her.
The three of us turned to look at the boy. He had already jumped back to his feet. His body was covered in bruises but with how we acting, he didn't seem bothered by them at all.
"Now I'm pissed." The boy said, cracking knuckles.
