"Man, it sucks that we couldn't tell Kurt anymore about the Genmochi." I said, with a disappointed tone in my voice.
Alice shrugged and continued walking through the streets. We had finally begun searching for the girl again but weren't having any luck. Thinking back at what the tavern worker said, she had mentioned that she was in a powerful family so we should probably move over to the wealthier area of the town. I could see large houses up ahead so we weren't that far.
"If you don't mind me asking, John, why exactly are you looking for this girl? Why exactly is she so important?" Alice suddenly asked.
"It's," I paused, "it's a gut feeling"
She looked at me for a moment and sighed. I looked away from her and put my hands in my pockets as we made our way to the wealthy area of town.
As we continued to walk I ended up overhearing people talking about something that caught my attention. Apparently two families were going to combine as one by marrying their kids. Alice seemed more bothered by it than I did. Maybe something similar to this happened in the past?
"Let's stop for today, it's getting pretty late so we should probably find some place to stay." I said.
My real reason for saying that was so I could get Alice out of here. It was obvious she wasn't comfortable here so I just wanted to help her. She seemed a little annoyed at first but that soon went away. She sighed and nodded her head.
"We passed by an inn not too long ago so let's go there. It's one of the better ones too." I said, walking towards where the inn was.
As we entered the inn we were met with a rather comfortable room. It was nothing like the inn we had back home. The only people in the main room were four people playing cards and one person working behind the counter. We made our way to the counter and began our conversation with the inn worker.
"Hello, sir, welcome to the Silva Inn. How may I assist you today?"
"We'd like two rooms for three nights." I answered.
The worker suddenly gave me an apologetic look. I didn't know what she was about to say but I knew full well that I wasn't going to like it.
