Chereads / The Dungeon Tree / Chapter 21 - Storm

Chapter 21 - Storm

"The day: unknown. The time: unknown. I've forgotten how long we've been traveling to this village. I don't even know if this village really exists." Said Ellie with a dramatic tone.

"What the heck are you babbling about? We've one been traveling for an hour so how'd you forget the day?" I asked.

Ellie turned to face me and gave me another one of her glares. I rolled my eyes and continued walking. I looked upward and saw clouds, which weirded me out.

"This place is weird, we're in a tree and there's a sky full of clouds. How does that even work?" I asked.

Bubbles turned to face me and looked like he was about to say something but stopped. He gave me a shrug and turned around to continue walking.

"Well to be fair, this tree has animals we've never seen before, not to mention the fact that there's a lake in here as well." Said Steven.

As all four of us continued walking I felt something wet hit the top of my head. All of a sudden a large lightning bolt crashed down far away from us. Rain had began coming down faster and harder causing all of us to start running.

"There's a cave nearby that we can stay at. It'll only take maybe ten minutes at most for us to get there." Said Steven.

We all acknowledged what Steven said and began to run towards the direction of the cave. As we ran a huge lightning bolt struck behind us.

"Oh my god I'm an idiot. We're carrying metallic weapons during a thunderstorm!" I yelled.

Just then, a cave appeared. Everyone turned towards the entrance of the cave and jumped in. I got up slowly and looked around noticing that the cave was a lot bigger than I expected.

Everyone else looked around as well, all being captivated by its size and appearance. The cave had crystals hanging from the ceiling and there was a small dripping noise coming from the back.

"Do you guys want to explore the cave for a bit or do you want to stay here where it's safe?" Steven asked.

"We've been walking for a bit so I'd enjoy going on a little adventure. What's the worst that can happen?" Asked Bubbles.

"Are you trying to jinx us Bubbles? I think it would be safer here, I'd rather not fight a monster that wants to maul me to death." I said.

Ellie and Steven both nodded while Bubbles looked defeated. For the rest of the storm we sat and waited for the storm to clear.

I leaned against a wall and looked out through the cave entrance watching as the storm continued.
