Chapter 6 - Chapter 7: Violet's past (part 3)

A few minutes had passed, and the scent of burnt trees had already filled the forest. The raging flames swirled around the trees, it wrapped around them, causing several trees to fall.

Every time a burned tree fell before us, we had to change paths. Hot and sweaty all over our bodies, the unbearable heat watered our eyes. There was no escape route. The fog was so dense, we could not see where we were heading. We tried to gasp for air, but it only led to coughing. My throat was soared and dry, it hurt so bad. Make the pain go away.

"Mommy, I can't breathe! It hurts so bad." I cried, tucking my nose into her coat.

"It's going to be okay, we'll get through this." She said determinedly. She placed me down, took her coat off.

"Mommy, what are you doing?"

"Mommy's going to make the pain go away."

She reached for her sword and sliced her hand.

"Mommy, You're hurting yourself? You're bleeding. Why would you do that?"

"Drink it!" She demanded.

"Say what!" You want me to drink your blood?" What do I look like? Draculas?"

"We don't have time for this. Trust mommy and drink it. Mommy's blood can heal you." I listened to her and drank the blood that came from her wound. Amazingly, my throat stopped hurting, even the bleeding from my knees had stopped! Why did she hide this from me? I thought to myself.

"Since you can walk now, let's go!" I took a step forward, the ground swallowed me into a bottomless pit.

"VIOLET!" My mother screamed. "Is this how am going to die?" I thought to myself. I closed my eyes.

"Violet! wake up, honey. Please wake up. "I heard my mom said in a crying voice. I opened my eyes, the radiance of the sun touched my face.

"You're alive!" She said, she embraced me tightly.

"Yes...mom...y-y-your suffocating me! I gasped for air.

"Oh, sorry!" She sniffled. I'm just happy that you're alive.

"How am I still alive?"

"Hmmm, I made you drink my blood.

"That again?"

"Yes, that again." She replied.

"Mom, where are we?"

"You fell into a hole, So I joined you."

"Wow, mom your so smart!" I said sarcastically. "Mother, what is a Thilorian?"

"That's something I can't tell you, you're not ready for it yet."

"Right! It's always been like this, you're always hiding stuff from me. I'm not surprised."

"Violet, everything I do for you is for your safety.

"My safety? I don't see how the truth is going to hurt me. The more you keep on hiding stuff from me, the more distant I feel from you."

"I'm sorry Violet, I still can't tell you. I rather you hate me, than you being hurt.

"That's right, I hate you. I hate you for keeping secrets from me. I hate you for not letting me go out and explore the world all these years of my life. Because of you, I could never have a normal childhood." I yelled at her.

"No matter how much you hate me, mommy will still love you as long as she lives." She forced a smile on her face.

"Stop it! Stop saying that! I don't need love, especially your love. I need freedom."

"Anyways, let's get out of here. I'm hungry."

"It's going to be hard to get out of here. We have to climb this," she said.

"It's not even that deep mom. It's really easy to climb." The hole not even that deep, it looks about 5 meters deep.

"You see, it wasn't that ha-,"

"Whoah!"

"You're just saying that because you're still young. Once you've reached my age, you'll understand that I'm talking abou-,"

"Whoah!" My mom said. Nothing left but a couple of burned trees standing. The leaves were gone. The soiled had turned black. Ashes and the body of dead animals on the ground.

"At this point, I'm even surprised that some trees are still standing," I said.

"Well, the trees left had thick barks, this probably protected them from the fire.'' She informed me.

"Mr. Aaron, I have plenty of stuff to do in the city, don't waste my time." We heard murmuring from a distance.

"Shhh! Come with me!" she whispered. We walked over to a tree and hid behind it. We peeked at them

"Are you sure, you saw Lady Aubrey and her daughter here?" A man on a horse said to one of the villagers. He was wearing a silver armor, so were the ones behind him. His helmet made it hard for us to see his face.

"I'm not sure if she was exactly in this area of the forest, but I can be 100% sure that I saw her in the forest somewhere, with her Thilorian daughter." There we go with that word again.

"If I find out you're lying to me, You won't get the money and you'll be executed along with your family." The soldier threatens him with his sword underneath his neck.

"Y-y-es Sir!" He stuttered

"Go on now!'

"Who are they?" I whispered.

"Those are Prince Elliot's soldiers." She whispered back.

"What do they want with us?" I asked

"They want us dead!" She answered.

"Okay, guards scatter yourselves and look for them all over the forest. Bring them to Prince Elliot's palace once you've captured them." He ordered.

"THUBALUP, THUBALUP!" The horses galloped.

"Mom, they're coming closer."

"Shush!"

"General Smith! I found them!" He yelled, his voice echoed. He halted his horse.

"Soldiers Assemble!" General Smith commanded. He turned his horse around and the other soldiers followed him.

"Violet runnnnnnnnn!" My mother yelled.

"I can't leave you behind mom."

"Don't worry about me, I'll handle them.

"Are you going to come back?" I asked.

"Yes, I will, now run!"

"Promise!"

"Promise!" She replied.

"Soldiers, After her!

I ran as fast as I could. I left my mother behind. "Will she be okay? I should go and help her. No, She told me to run away. What if they killed her? No, she promised me she'll come back." All these voices in my head.

>>Meanwhile: Aubrey<<

" Guards, after her!" General Smith yelled

"Not so fast, you have to get through me first." I stood in front of his horse."

"About I bury you with her, Aubrey!"

"About you try!" He tried to knock me over with his horse, but I dodge.

"How dare you-," one of his men came behind me and tried to strike me with his sword.

"Slash!" I struck him with my sword. His body fell to the ground.

"Neighhhhh!" his horse neighed and ran way. The horsemen scattered all around me forming a circle. There is no escape.

"Just give up already, Aubrey, you're a woman and there's like 40 of us here. You can't win against us."

"As if, don't even both-,"

"Whoosh!" before I could finish, something struck me from behind. My body became numb and dizzy. Everything became blurry. I dropped to the ground.

"General, what if she wakes up?" I overheard someone said.

"She won't be waking up for the next 2 hours, don't worry about it." I heard General Smith.

"What are they talking about? I hope Violet finds somewhere safe to hide. I know she's a smart girl. She'll survive." My eyes gave up on me
