Chapter 4 - Ch4: talent test.

They left the facility together and the moment Aric layed his foot outside the clinic ,he was hit with a view that left him shaken to the core.

Steam was rolling off the roofs of every building, hundreds and hundreds of houses and structures covered the vast cityscape in all different shapes and heights like the canvas of a painting explosive In color .

in his small hometown, each of these buildings would be considered a mansion on it's own, but they were considered nothing that amazing here.

The sector he stood in seemed the most presteine within the entire city, standing over the highest point in the hill like scape, it was like the crown over the king's head, it appeared like a wonder within the mortal world like something out of legends and ancient tales, it was the land of the ancestral paladins school!

' I finally made it ' Aric couldn't remember how long he had dreamed of setting foot in this very place, he felt his eyes fill with tears at the thought of all the hardships he went through to make it this far and he finally did, he knew this wasn't the end of his journey but the first step on a long road before he can achieve all he've ever dreamed of, it was just the beginning of something much bigger than his imagination could ever fathom.

He dared not delay the headmaster walking before him, and he sped forward trying to catch up with her .

" I was informed that you used the imperial decree to enter this sector through the capital, and I know that many hold disdain to such backdoor methods but I could care less, It matters not to me how you entered this facility but the actions and achievements you showcase through your tutelage are what matters. " the headmaster stated while walking unheredly down the path to the center of the ancestral grounds.

" yet even though you're already part of the ancestral school right now, you still have to go through the talent assessment court ,that is if you want to join the classes , or train in mystic arts." hearing those last words, Aric felt his blood boil with excitement, mystic arts, it was the pathway to everything he desired so dearly and sought after, the source of all power humanity held and the way to infinite riches and respect.

Aric Clenched his arms tightly and followed closely behind the headmaster, in their way to their unknown destination. They passed by several other students and teachers of the academy, most students wearing the same white uniform as Aric with the exception of a few wearing blue uniforms, and an even rarer couple in violet uniforms.

But it didn't matter what uniform they wore or what color it was , be it a teacher or a student of the school, they all appeared extremely respectful and cautious of the headmaster, whenever they saw her making her way through , they would step aside and salute her, they would then eyeball Aric who was walking behind her for a bit and start whispering to one another.

This happened everytime someone was passing by and saw them making they're way through, it was obvious that the woman before him was of great standing and prestige in the academy, but Aric didn't seem to have the common sense or ability to appear with a fake persona of respect and admiration all of a sudden.

He didn't understand what kind of concept the headmaster of an ancestral sector meant, else he wouldn't be as relaxed and uncaring as he was right now , and after seeing all the adoration the students and teachers passing by showcased for this woman, even Aric began to stiffen up a bit and change his words into a more formal tense.

It didn't take long for Aric and the headmaster to make they're way to a simple looking building in the outskirts of the academic grounds.

They entered it and the building had just a couple of administrative workers and staff making their way around it.

The moment these employees saw the headmaster they all paled and heredly bowed towards her in respect, all wondering what brought this woman of a higher plan to the outskirts of the academy.

Laince on the other hand just ignored them and made her way to a distant room in the back of the building.

The moment they entered the room, Aric realized they were in a storage warehouse , the room was riddled with dust and sheets of linen covered everything.

Aric gazed at the headmaster beside him, and she looked back, sighed and said " it can't be helped, official entry for the new freshmen won't be untill tomorrow, and it's impossible to finish the paperwork by then for you to participate in the public test"

The headmaster reached for one of the linen covers and pulled to uncover a crystal cube beneath.

" Thus we will do a private test , what do you say? "

The blonde Laince wiped the dust of the cube, and beneath the dust was the crystal clear tool.

The cube was divided into seven equal parts of different colors, each representing one of the seven elements ( water , fire , wind , earth, metal , dark and light )

It wasn't the universal system of elemental classify, rather the orthodox one, held onto by the ancestral school so tight, even though new systems of classification were made that far outstrip this one and are more efficient at defining talents.

And the reason for that was that those other far better systems were made by demonic or the liberal factions, and the orthodox were far too prideful to adapt to the system of their enemies and thus held onto a flawed system.

But that didn't matter to Aric, for him whatever system it is he didn't care, as long as he got to train in mystic arts.

The headmaster turned towards him and asked ," do you know how to use an essence cube trial ?"

Aric nodded his head in affirmation, although he was a bastard son ,he was still part of the royal house, and he had already used such a device at a young age.

He reached his hand and laid it on top of the cube and closed his eyes and made his final prayers, this test would define his future accomplishments, and although he already knew his results since he tested at a young age before, it was a human nature to wish for a miracle at times of need and despair.

And so he did, he prayed for a miracle.
