Chapter 5 - Chapter 5

Dom POV-

Its Saturday, 2:00pm to be precise. I've just woken up, or correction, my dramatic mother has just woken me up saying and I quote: 'a growing boy like you needs sunlight and fresh air, how are you supposed to get that when you wake up at 2:00 in the afternoon?'

Firstly, I'm almost 19 years old and if she still thinks I'm going to wake up for a cookie and glass of milk she is greatly mistaken. Secondly, I do get out the house, it's not my fault the moon changes shifts with the sun every time I need to hang out with my friends is it?

I groan and put my head in my hands as I struggle to get out of bed. Ignoring the disapproving look my mother gives me I stroll up to her and get into character.

Puppy dog eyes and a charming smile is something nobody can resist, especially if it is given by your truly.

"Sorry Mum, I'll try and get out of bed earlier tomorrow" then I hug her, just so you know I've given that excuse everyday since I could speak and it has never failed me.

She exhales a long sigh just as she had done for the past 18 years and mutters "what am I going to do with this child"?

I watch her walk out the room after she picks up all the clothes I accidentally threw around my room yesterday and gives me a look of disappointment which I return with an innocent as I can manage smile. She shakes her head chuckling and shuts the door behind her.

What? Don't judge me, picking out a decent outfit is extremely time consuming.

I grin, then make my way to the white wardrobe which had long mirrors or each door.

In the reflection is a tall man who has a six pack and black messy hair. I eye the stubble that has grown miraculously overnight and make a mental note of shaving it during the shower. With that, I grab a clean towel and jump into 4 glass walls.

The hot water runs down my neck and slides down my back. I think about all the girls I had met recently, what they did, how I got them dreaming about me.

I paused and the Lynx bottle in my hand stopped squirting out shampoo. There was one,one of them who didn't give me the reaction I was hoping for. What was her name again? Oh right, Ashley.

It all came pouring back at this moment. No girl had ever stood up to me like that. Of course, some played hard to get, but this one, she acted like she didn't want to be gotten at all.

At this I frowned and licked the drops of water of my lips, I wasn't used to girls walking away from me. Most of the time they would squeal and hover over me like I was oxygen. To be honest, it kinda pissed me of, but then again, what she did was kinda hot.

A challenge.

I unleashed a grin.

I liked challenges!

Lucien POV

I watched her sleep. We had to hide, which was hard since we were surrounded by literally nothing but sand. Arab officers patrolled the area and the sound of jeeps and camels echoed in the night. She had woken a few times and shot me a glare when she heard muffled voices and smelt camels shit. Apparently the nature of animals relieving themselves anywhere was my fault.

But right now she was sound asleep. Wow, for once she pulled off the angel look.

I mentally snorted, she was anything but an angel.

She coughed in her throat and sat up while brushing away the grains of sand and sleep stuck to her face.

She shook her self slightly then turned to look at me.

"Rise and shine sleepyhead" I teased

She scrunched up her surprisingly knot-free hair into a pony tail and glared in my direction

"Say that one more time and I'll pop your eyeballs out and make you eat them".

I grinned and playfully tested her patience "I could do with some breakfast-"

A powerful shriek shot up in the air and we both snapped our heads down and slowed our breathing. Men's laughter travelled through the air and the sound of a gun cocking rang through my ears.

Whoever made that shot was cheered on and

I relaxed a little, only to realise I had protectively shoved Kat to the ground, my arm around her. Slowly, I withdrew my arm and braced myself for...well, death.

Her head silently rose and her jet black eyes bore into my brown ones.

"If you keep that up, the next missile is going to shoot straight up your ass" she breathed.

I backed away careful not to make any noise and raised my hands in surrender.

A shaky sigh escaped my lips and I shut my eyes. This was one dangerous woman, but of course I already knew that. I just liked pushing her buttons, her being annoyed entertained me. She secretly liked it, who could resist the charm of Lucien McCoy? I'll give you two answers: nobody and nobody.

Still, it bothered me, why was she such a moody cow all the time. At least at the institute we had a good laugh here and there.

I watched her for a long time, she played with the hem of her shirt. I could see the clogs in her head moving, forming a plan, she burrowed her brows in...frustration or perhaps she was confused.

With out warning, I blurted out "why do you do that?"

Her eyes slowly turned to look at me. She stuck an eyebrow up. HA! As if she didn't know what I was talking about.

"You know what I mean Kat" I put my hand in hers and gripped it slowly while rubbing circles on her skin.

She remained expressionless for a while, as if thinking how to strategically avoid my question. Before looking me in the eyes and opening her mouth.

"You want to know why I do that?" her eyes pierced into mine, her voice was as cold and steady as death.

I merely nodded. Her jet-black hair blew in the breeze, her jaw tightened before exhaled a long sigh.

She parted her lips but before she could say anything the deafening sound of a car horn blared into our ears. I covered my ears and Katherine drew a silver gun from her waist.

Everything moved in slow motion yet went by as fast as a bullet.

10 or more men surrounded us. My breathing quickened as I drew my own blade from it's sheath and let my eyes soak up the scene.

There was definitely more than 10 men surrounding us. They each had limited addition guns and rifles strapped onto them and pointing at us. I was surprised they hadn't shot us on sight.

Behind me, Katherine stood, her own gun pointing at our foes and a deadly look etched on her face.

"bus, madha ealayna 'an nfiel?" One of the men called out to what I think was his boss.

Boss, should we shoot them now?

"la tutliq alnaar baed , la 'urid 'iifsad alturfih alwahid aldhy huziat bih tawal allayl" he replied.

Not just yet, I don't want to ruin the only entertainment I've had all night just yet.

What on earth could they be saying, but apparently Kat knew for what she did next surprised me.

"anzuruu 'iilayna la darar min 'anana bbsatt nahtaj lilwusul 'iilaa almamlakat alearabiat alsaeudiat wa'aedik 'anak ln tarana maratan 'ukhraa baed dhlk" she carefully and slowly said something to one of the men and in return they sniggered.

Look we mean no harm we simply need to get to Saudi Arabia and I promise you won't ever see us again after that.

Of course she knew Arabic, was there anything in the world she couldn't do.

The so called Boss laughed, and it was a hearty laugh to, I would be tempted to join in if it wasn't for the M16 Automatic rifle pointed at my head.

"alfatat alghabiyat , altariqat alwahidat alty satughadir biha huna hi eindama tutliq risasatay jamjamatuk alsamikat wayusahib aljamal ealaa habaybat alraml alhariqat" the man sneered and I almost plunged my knife into his heart if it wasn't for the nagging suspicion that Kat had something better planned. After all, she always did.

stupid girl the only way you will be leaving here is when my bullet will shoot through your thick skull and you are dragged on these scorching grains of sand by a camel.

"In that case" her speaking English again surprised me but what she did next surprised me even more.

Her long strong legs kicked one of the officers to the ground as I mirrored her movement. Within a flash, the deafening boom of an unmistakable gun rippled through the air which was followed by many others.

I tackled one to the ground and shot him in the back of his neck.

Another leapt on me and strong hands gripped my neck.

I struggled for air, another ear-splitting bang echoed in my ears and suddenly the hands around me went limp.

He dropped to the ground. I turned to see Kat, gun in her hands, pointed at where once the man on the grounds neck was.

She spun back around  and her knuckles made contact with the boss's jaw.

Crack! Holy shit! I thought to myself.

The view in front of my face was shocking. Not a single soldier was stood. They all lay on the ground, some moving, others...well quite frankly they were dead.

I turned my gaze back to Kat who's bloody hands were now wrapped around the mans neck. I would have felt remorse for the man if he hadn't, quite cockily, pressed the head of his gun against my temples a few minutes ago. I had just been in a similar encounter with one of his colleagues a couple of seconds back, I did not want to be in his shoes. Especially with that  devils hand pressed against his throat.

She growled and pressed her fingers deeper into his neck. At this point I was wondering how on earth the man had managed to keep in the choking. Moments later my question was answered, for the man now hung loosely from her grip, staring at the sky.

He dropped from her hands, onto the sand with a thud. The air around us was still, and the sun was rising.

With a huff, Kat turned around and stride towards the jeep. I followed after her.

We had been driving for a while now, exchanging no form of communication. The wheels run smoothly against the sand. An unexpected yawn escapes my lips and just now I realise how deprived of sleep I am. With all that time watching Kat sleep, I hadn't gotten any myself.

Apparently she noticed this since she said " go to sleep Lucien, I'll inform you when we have arrived".

Inform?! Why on Earth did she sound like a banks receptionist.

Too tired to protest, I rested my head against the windows and turned to look at her. She was concentrated on driving and setting the radio on to something informative.

My eyes felt heavy as they slowly dropped and I settled into a calm sleep, not knowing what tomorrow would bring..
