Chapter 62 - Chapter 62

The seventh through ninth group had been tested. Unfortunately, another talent who scored nine points hadn't been found. There was, however, one person who scored eight points for the Moon empire. It was a female, who had an ice elemental profound spirit in the form of an ice spirit. Her name was Xia Muyin, and she ranked fifth on the genius ranking and thirteenth in the second test.

The third recruitment test would finally end after the last group, and the top ten would test themselves. The elders were paying extra attention as every decade, some potential holy children would always appear in the top ten. Jiang Mang and the other top ten rankers entered the first test. Jiang felt the extremely hot yang energy in the air, which leaned towards the fire element. He started absorbing the energy which his body and profound spirits were capable of refining, and they were also capable of refining the energy moderately fast but he had only absorbed enough to score six points.

When he entered the second test, he started comprehending the painting through his inner view. He saw an enormous three, which stood alone in an endless snowy landscape while bathing in moonlight. He swiftly comprehended the hidden meaning of the painting, which was an intent that focused on indifference and the feeling of loneliness while standing in the spotlight. Halfway through the test, he comprehended an incomplete technique that used the essence of the moon as the basis of a movement technique. This incomplete technique reminded him of his master's technique hidden moon traversal. Through the incomplete technique he just comprehended, he would be able to further perfect hidden moon traversal and increase its grade to Di tier and maybe even Tian tier.

When the time was about to end, he was enlightened and saw a glimpse of its dao. This painting held the emotionless dao, which was achieved by using the cold to freeze the heart. He eventually earned eight points in this test, but he was not the only one as Zhao Mo had also grasped some of the dao hidden in the painting. He had, however, not comprehended the emotionless dao, but the killing dao as the moon was merciless.

The third test had the participants make a connection with beast spirits hidden in a mural filled with beast patterns. Jiang Mang connected with an eight-tailed fox as it was the highest-ranking fox on the mural, which earned him again eight points. His potential was probably equal to Feng Xue or even higher due to his bloodline.

The fourth test evaluated his physical body that was as strong as a peak saint beast that had awakened their ancestral heritage. He scored eight points again, which started shocking the elders and crowd of participants.

The fifth test, which was of the Devil sect, tested his killing intent. Jiang Mang's killing intent was strong due to his time as an assassin, while he also had many dark feelings due to his blindness. His blindness was a part of his life that made his life dark and empty. Nobody expected anything from him, while all of his achievements had been obtained through his hard work. He worked hard as a child to learn how to function and use hidden weapons. He worked hard to become an accomplished cultivator, and he worked even harder to prove to the world that it was wrong to make him blind as he would use it against it and defy the world itself.

These dark feelings had fused with his quite strong killing intent, to form a unique killing intent that wanted to defy everything that stood in its way. This defiance perfectly conformed with the path of a devil. This allowed his killing intent that would have scored him five points to allow him to earn eight points again.

He wasn't the only person to earn eight points, as three other people earned eight points in this test which were Huang Mo, Zhao Mo, and Zhao Yin. The next test was from the Holy maiden sect, which tested the yin energy and its purity inside a person's body. Normally males would score zero points while females who had lost their virginity would only score between one or two pints.

Zhao Yin scored nine points in this test, which made the elder from the holy maiden sect ecstatic as it has been a hundred years since the last holy daughter of the sect had appeared, which resulted in a sect that had fallen slightly in decline, but she was not the only surprise as Jiang MAng managed to score four points. This shocked all the elders, as this meant that he was a male that was extremely suited for yin type techniques. Unfortunately, the holy maiden sect only accepted females due to its unique method of cultivation.

The elder of the Holy maiden sect sighed that Jiang Mang was born as a male, while his two female friends were thinking that they were correct in calling him a pretty boy, that could be a perfect girl. This event would haunt him for his entire life as his connection to the Holy maiden sect wouldn't simply end in the future.

Jiang Mang's had this much yin energy, due to him cultivating the Charm body that mostly used yin type herbs to temper the body. It was also due to his bloodline, that didn't only enhance his yang energy, but also his yin energy. Fox beasts were notorious for being lustful, but the reason for this was that both their yin as yang were in high concentration, and they need to have sex to achieve the natural balance of these two energies inside of their bodies.

The seventh test required Jiang Mang to touch a sword, which tested the user's affinity with the sword and their comprehension about the sword. When Jiang Mang touched the sword, a blinding light appeared, but it didn't contain any sharpness like it usually with sword cultivators. This meant that he had a natural affinity with the sword, but he has no comprehension, of the sword dao. He eventually scored seven points, but this test allowed the Sword Palace to see that his affinity was with swords was even higher than Chu Lingxin, and he just had never used a sword before. This point made the elder of the Sword Palace immediately point out that they would fight for him despite him only having seven points as his talent is sufficient to score nine points if he had used the sword in the past.

He also pointed out that Jiang Mang was the youngest cultivator out of the thousand participants, and still had time to start becoming a sword cultivator. Jiang Mang didn't know what was going on outside the test location and started heading towards the eight tests. Here he scored six points due to his life qi, leaning towards the wood element.

Huang Mo was the star in this test by scoring nine points due to his twin elemental spirits of wind and lightning. This made the Five elements palace satisfied with this recruitment. There was now only the last test remaining of the Zither palace. The group entered the last test area, where they were sucked in an illusion.
