We didn't do much after Josse left, Jenna was too exhausted from trying on so many shoes and gowns that she fell asleep before the rest of us, and frankly Florence was too scared to carry on with the evening, she just wanted the next day to begin so the party would all be a memory, I had promised to open the box and that whatever was in it would spur the fun of the evening, I wasn't wrong there, it definitely did.
Caramel cup cakes, they were my favorite, I had asked Jared to make us some, it was meant to be a surprise for Jenna and Florence, they hardly got anything nice so I wanted to spoil them for that evening, but Kayla had almost spoilt my mood, naughty girl always knew how to look for trouble, but I hardly gave her the time of day.
The weather was particularly nice this morning, I woke up to the sound of singing birds and the smell of fresh flowers filling my room, warm air brushing against my skin only assured me of one thing, spring was here, my favorite time of year.
I loved spring, after the long, dark and cold months of winter, the warmth and fragrance of spring was breathtakingly beautiful, I termed it as the start of new beginnings, fresh flowers blooming, the birds returning, hybernating creatures finally taking a break to smell the delightful air, I couldn't wait to be a part of all that, in a way I had always come alive during spring, and this time would be no different.
Besides, I could finally try on my beautiful gowns now, and then there was my morning and evening strolls, and of course Jupiter, him and I hadn't seen each other in quite a while, this was my opportunity to pay him a visit.
Jenna and Florence had snuck out while I was still sleeping, but not before they cleared the mess in my room, father hadn't returned, and neither had mother, and honestly I was beginning to get a little worried. They probably had more to take care of than they thought.
Florence had drawn me a bath, and Jenna had come back to clear what was left of the mess from last night, I didn't stay for breakfast, frankly I couldn't remember the last time I stayed for a meal with my siblings, there was always something to cause a racket, and then I'd lose my appetite, breakfast was either served in my room, with mother, or not at all, but this morning I didn't feel the slightest bit hungry, like I said, it was my favorite time of year, and I wasn't going to miss one second of it.
As promised, I paid a visit to Jupiter first, he had grown remarkably well over the past months, and his white coat looked as healthy as ever, my noble stead, a true gentleman, or should I say a true gentle stallion, we had practically grown up together, I loved the horse from the moment I laid eyes on him, and every day since, but winter had cut short our fun strolls, however, there would be plenty of time to make up for that now.
He was just as excited to see me as I was to see him, and I could tell he missed me just as much.
I spent a good while with Jupiter, and after that I paid a visit to the gardens, as I had expected, the flower blossomed in beautiful trails of bright lush colors, and the air, mixed in the graceful crescendo of singing birds and the fragrance of waking flowers altogether made it all look even more beautiful.
I could stay right there forever, that is, if the need for food hadn't come up. Maybe skipping breakfast wasn't a good idea after all.
Spring would be around long enough for me to soak it in as much as I desired, but right now, a bite wouldn't hurt, I left the gardens and headed back for the palace, nothing could possibly ruin this beautiful morning for me, or at least I hoped nothing would.
I had read a couple of books to while away the time during winter, one of them was the popular story of a girl who went down a rabbit hole, and fought a terrifying creature.
Alice in wonderland if I remember correctly, however, seeing a rabbit hop out of a hole just now made me remember that story, and I didn't know why, but something made me want to look at it a little longer, I watched the rabbit, it took quick hops and soon hopped under the bridge, it was out of sight in no time, but something else caught my attention, something curious, something that changed spring for me forever.
What could it be you ask, well, I wish I didn't have the answer, but I do, and soon enough, you will too.
