Chapter 5 - Stealing in Broad Daylight

Magnus found the place to be very interesting. He continued his journey and although he could see it from a distance, actually coming to the town hall was quite a headache given the number of buildings and other infrastructures blocking the way plus the distance that he had to walk through.

Moon's End has passed the need of cars and other land based vehicles, which made traveling by land rather difficult. Either you could ride some sort of flying mount or item, but if you don't have one, then you must at least have a fast land mount or a vehicle since Moon's End was just too massive.

Magnus didn't have any means of transportation, and so walking was his only choice. It took him a long while before he could arrive since he was only traveling by foot, thankfully a kind soul helped him and dropped him off in-front the town hall in which by the time he goes inside... all things should make sense since he would be gathering information about this mystical place he was currently in.

'Damned Tris didn't even give me something to ride on... well, at least I'm here now.' Magnus complained in his mind.

Without a second thought, Magnus went inside the town hall and as if he wasn't shocked by anything on his way here, he was surprised yet again.

'How many races are there in this place?'

Magnus saw large amounts of people whose races vary from humans to demons. Some were extremely small, all the way to the creatures who had towering heights.

'Other than the people and the others, I find the town hall's setup interesting' Magnus thought that this place resembled the adventurer's guilds in the games he previously played before.

'But nevermind that, I came here with a purpose and I shall do just that.'

With that, Magnus began his search for information.

He asked the person behind the desk and increased his knowledge further by reading books in the library. The books there looked as if they haven't been affected by time.

Some time later...

'These everlasting books are pretty cool.' Magnus muttered as his information gathering finally comes to a halt.

'How long have I been here though? I wonder how Tris is doing.'

During the time that Magnus was gathering information it seemed that he had lost track of time and so he decided to go outside.

'It's already noon... I'm supposed to meet Tris in today's afternoon, right? Shit, I need to hurry, I don't want to walk again!'

Magnus looked around to see if he could once again hitch a ride.

Seeing that no one is helping him now, Magnus's eyes suddenly shone and the evil inside him stirred up. Magnus smiled as he eyed a white-haired old man lying on his mount seemingly looking to be asleep.

'If someone were to see me right now they would surely mistake me for a thief but today that is exactly what I am!' Magnus prepared himself and he slowly creeped towards the sleeping old man.

'A giant dire wolf huh?... Nothing to be afraid of as this would make a good and fast mount! Also it seems that this old man wouldn't need his mount for a while seeing how he sleeps so soundly. I'll be borrowing your pet for now old man!'

Magnus had an entire monologue on his mind and convinced himself to do the deed. He then swept the old man off his mount while looking a little apologetic.

'Still asleep? Sorry old man I'm not a bad person but I must say that desperate times call for desperate measures! I'll make sure that your wolf returns to you later... Hyaa!!'

Magnus sat on the giant dire wolf as he spoke then tried to spur the wolf using his feet in order to move it forward, but it was to no avail.

"What's wrong big wolf?" Magnus spoke to the wolf.

"Young man, don't think that magical beasts listen to anyone." A voice suddenly spoke. This voice seemed like it belonged to an old man.

"You're awake?" Magnus replied, looking to be a bit scared.

"I was awake the whole time," The old man replied briefly.

"Why didn't you speak earlier? I'm really sorry about this old man, but I'm in a desperate situation at the moment now and need to hurry!" Magnus got off the wolf and apologized. He laughed awkwardly while scratching the back of his head.

"Although I don't know of your reasons as to why you chose to commit a crime in broad daylight... It seems that your actions have a cause," the old man spoke. He then continued "Tell me young man what reason do you have to be in such a hurry that you have resorted to robbing an old man of his mount?"

"To tell you honestly, I'm quite new here you see and I am needed this afternoon somewhere outside the city by the person who brought me here." Magnus answered the old man's question truthfully.

"So that's why. Let me help you then, young man."

"Why and how will you help me? I tried to steal your mount and should you choose to let me borrow your wolf," Marcus replied. It was a little suspicious so he can't be too sure. "It might be a little too late for that now too as I've already spent a long time here and the person waiting for me might be angry by now."

"Don't worry about the details young man. Just like you, I have my own reasons. Now close your eyes and picture the place you need to go, but I must first ask of your given name." The old man explained.

"I am called Magnus good sir, what about yours?"

Magnus became respectful to the old man who wished to help him. He then closed his eyes in accordance to the old man's instruction.

"Magnus... Good name it shall fit you and your future deeds! Now, this old man's name is Qhaizsir, never forget it."

"What did you mean by my future deeds, sir Qhaizsir?" Magnus asked. He opened his eyes, but the scene in front of him has already changed. He wasn't near the town hall anymore, but instead Trista's house was right ahead of him.

'Was I teleported here?'

Magnus was astonished of what he just went through. He looked around to see if what he's seeing is real, but it didn't seem like he was hallucinating and the house in front of him was just an illusion.

After confirming that he's really been teleported here, Magnus composed himself. He then walked forward and tried to knock on Tris' door. But before Magnus could knock, the door which was closed tightly earlier suddenly opened on its own.

"You're late." A voice of a female echoed around the house.

"I ran through a small mishap on my way here." Magnus laughed awkwardly. He then continued to speak. "I didn't know that teleportation was possible in any way."

"Everything is possible now that you have ascended the lesser realms, but now you must make a choice." Tris spoke in a low and solemn tone.
