I feel like I should just start at the beginning. My name is Koa Stiruka, or I guess it was at that time. We will get into my current name soon. When I was born I knew who I was. By that I mean I knew who I was in my last life. I am not a warrior, or a God. I am just man who has lived, soul wise, for 110 years. There is a year gap between my death and my birth but non consecutive 110 years is a long time to be on this planet. I left a planet ravaged by war over religion to be born into a world ravaged by hatred. Unfounded hatred to be exact.
I am a summoner. My life's work was spent on symbols and chants, all of which were manufactured by Ako. A mythical character to some and an ancestor to others. I see him more as a prophet. Someone who saw the end coming and created a way to avoid it.
I remember how I died. It was a knife wound to the chest. I don't recall the conversation only that ended with my inevitable death. The person who killed me is also a mystery.
I spent the better part of my first youth pretending to practice magic. Imagination is a crazy thing when some of it turns out to be real. But I had many friends and was fairly liked, I enjoyed making people happy in whatever fashion suited them. One of my best friends I met when he didn't speak my native tongue, but I spoke a bit of his. He spoke in a tongue that was unknown in these lands, as he was a refugee from another land. If you look at the current map of the world, they call lands continents. So bear with me while I figure out the lingo. We spoke for many years through sign language and one word phrases. As I got older into my 20's I started reading about Ako. He entrances me by the way he speaks about the creation of a being, or a typical reincarnation of a being. I don't subscribe to necromancy, but it is a viable option in my world.
I was one of 7 students of Ako's great grandson Leo. Among those 7 original students was my best friend whose affectionately nicknamed Iko because of his unnatural obsession with Ako and his name was Iodah. He ended up going down the road of Necromancy and we split the paths but stayed friends through most of our lives. 3 out of the 7 students died while summoning a beast of the last tier difficulty and it killed them. What a way to go out if you ask me. Leo spent the better part of 40 years after teaching us following myself and Iko around and annoying us about our form.
The wars started shortly after I turned 29. Ironically this is when I got married to a seamstress from my home town of Tokago. Her name was Mae and she was the most beautiful woman to grace my life. The war started in another land when 2 kingdoms went head to head over their religions. Who was right and who was wrong? I still don't know. It was the difference between monotheism and polytheism that I didn't have time for. As far as I knew we were created by the god/s and therefore we are automatically able to create life as they do. They did use mages and warriors to fight their battles, but like every sickness and wildfire it never stays contained unless it's a controlled environment, which I can assure you no one was in control at the time. So the hatred spilled into our land and though the 6 kingdoms in my land had similar polytheistic religions we chose different gods to put at the top. My home town Tokago was in the Siru Kingdom and our god was the God of Darkness as we were shadowed most of the year by either clouds or the mountain ranges. No alliances were necessary as we lived in peace with the other kingdoms until the hatred migrated to our land.
It's start with a princess. To be more precise our Princess, Talia Siru. She was pretty, but not anything to leave your mouth agape. She was betrothed, this has since been abolished, to the Princess Tanna Driku of the, you guessed it, Driku Kingdom. They were to be married and at that time marital status was more just that status and love was something created by time not by man. All kingdoms during this time believed that, not the fanatical current times, women could be married to women and there was no patriarchy. Males did not dominate the land. There were more queens in the world then there was Kings. When the women were to be married we met in neutral ground between the kingdoms, in the Forest of Sikh. We had 2 alters, one to honor our faith, God of Death, and one to order theirs, God of Nature.
It was dusk when they had their ceremony. It was a beautiful affair with both queens sitting atop their thrones behind the altar. As we got to the vows Tanna was engulfed in flames. Siri screamed and ran off the alter as the mages of Driku doused Tanna in water. I, being at a wedding, was drunk off the Driku wine. So this is secondhand knowledge. Tanna did not survive this ordeal and died of her injuries. Shortly after, Talia was in the Forest and she as well ended up by way of hanging from a vine. Both kingdoms declared war as if the deaths were caused by one another and that started the 30 year war that was deemed a religious affair mid way through. God versus God, when from third person is man versus man in the name of their respective god.
We all knew that this war wouldn't end with bloodshed, it changed the world as we saw it for the rest of our lives. My life happened to just pick back up.
