Chereads / Golden Falcon / Chapter 19 - 019. The Duke of Silverpool

Chapter 19 - 019. The Duke of Silverpool

"Are you a noble, Roman?" Adam asked curiously.

"I was a noble. After death, I don't know if I can be considered a noble anymore," Roman smiled bitterly.

Then it hit him. But, he wanted to make sure it was true.

"I know it is weird to ask, have all of you been dead before?"

After a short silence. Everyone answered, "Yes, master."

Hearing that, Adam realized something. Like him, they were the same. They got this second chance, but they were different than him. They had paid a price for their second chance, they had to accept being summoned creatures. But, he didn't pay any price. Or, maybe, his time hadn't come yet.

'So, have I. And God give us a second chance. So, let's work together to make sure our second chance meaningful. Let me borrow your strength, and I will make sure no one will be left behind. By the way, let's keep it as a secret between us," Adam said to their minds.

'Yes, master!' Everyone said to his mind excitedly.

After that, the summoned creatures introduced themselves one by one. The three dwarves' names were Aiden, Gideon, and Heron. The two elves' names were Calen and Idril. The goblin's name was Zeen.

"So let's go to the tower of glory!" Adam said.

"Wait a minute! Are you sure wanted to go there, empty-handed?", Eve said a lot.

" We are not, miss," Ural showed his halberd.

Adam also looked at Veronica's whip-like weapon which was looped around her waist and two daggers which were inserted in their scabbards on both sides of Haldir's waist. But then he knew what she meant were the seven level 1 creatures who were only summoned with their clothes, without weapons.

Adam then remembered he had many weapons in his pendant. When he was about to touch his necklace, he heard Eve's voice, "That won't work. It's okay to equip them with those weapons outside, but in the glory tower, they had to use weapons that were sold by the system, or made by a summoned craftsmen."

Adam then opened the equipment department. Adam then realized this is the first time he opened this section.

In the equipment department, there were three sections, weapons, armors, and items. He then opened the weapons section. There were many kinds of weapons sold, there were swords, pole weapons, bows, etc. The price of each weapon also varied, some were only 10 GP, the others' prices were even more than 10.000 GP.

Adam could only sigh, he then asked each of the creatures to choose their favorite weapons, but he stressed that he had a limited budget for weapons. So with a flushed face, he demanded them to choose the cheapest weapons available.

Fortunately, everyone was sensible. At last, Adam couldn't see dissatisfaction in their expressions. Adam promised to himself to get better ones when he had enough GP.

The three dwarves chose round shields and war hammers which have a head hammer on a side, and a rather curve point on the other side. The elves chose longbows and quivers full of arrows. The goblin chose a short bow and a quiver full of arrows. And Roman chose longsword. Adam himself chose a rapier.

After everyone got their weapons, Adam only had 12 GP left. Adam wanted to cry. To distracted himself, Adam checked his rapier.

[Mass Production Rapier]

Sharpness: D-

Toughness: C+

Adam smiled slightly, it wasn't too bad. At least the quality of the products in the glory shop were guaranteed.

"Okay, let's enter the tower, are you ready?" Adam said.

"Yes, master!"

After clicking the tower of glory, a notification appeared.

[To enter the tower of glory, you need to pay 100 GP. Sorry, You don't have enough GP to enter it.]

Adam was dumbfounded, he then realized Eve who usually sat on his shoulder disappeared.

"Eve!!!"

Silverpool City could be said one of the busiest cities in the Seven Alliance. Because its harbor was the meeting point of sea trading that connected the Crabsean Archipelago in the southwest of Salama Continent, Raymond Republic in the North, and many cities in Seven Alliance that didn't have shore in their territories. So they had to come to a city like Silverpool to sell their products.

Evening in Silverpool City was as lively as in the morning and the afternoon. The difference was, in the morning and the afternoon, the center of activities were in the markets, factories, harbor, and farms outside the city wall. But in the evening, parks and culinary centers are the most crowded places.

Lanterns and magic lamps illuminated the whole area of Silverpool City. In the park, street vendors, and many attractions like clowns, acrobatics, bards, and fireworks became a magnet that attracted the citizens of Silverpool and visitors from other territories.

A tired-looking girl was walking through the crowds. Her white robe looked wrinkle. Her presence attracted the crowd's attention. Her long red hair and her white robe were really striking. Some people who seemed to recognize her saluted her and said something politely. She could only smile slightly and nodded.

Her destination looked like neither parks nor restaurants, as she continued to walk to the North and only passed them. After a few minutes, she arrived in front of the gate of a grandiose and gorgeous mansion. On the gate of the mansions, a symbol of a running horse was drawn to a kite shield-like decoration.

One of the guards who was guarding the gate saluted and said to her, "Good evening and welcome Your Highness, His Grace was waiting for you in the dining room,"

"Good evening, I will immediately go there," She smiled and answered.

She then entered the gate and was walking passing the garden full of many kinds of flowers and trees. Some fireflies were flying around them. Because of the magic lamps that were installed along the way, she could see them clearly. Sometimes, the voice of some frogs and insects were heard. Halfway she halted and looked enjoying the atmosphere of the garden for a while.

After that, she continued walking to the entrance. After arriving at the entrance to the door of the dining room, dozens of guards and maids greeted her. It made her journey took a little time because she had to answer all of the greetings.

"Duke, that's not good. If we let them, many merchants would become their victims. We can not delay any more. A campaign must be issued soon to eliminate them from our territory," a man's loud voice reverberated through the door.

The girl's expression hardened. She then opened the door without knocking, the guards at the sides of the door didn't dare to stop her.

She then saw a middle-aged man with white hair which was combed neatly sat on the main seat was reading some document. Three meters from him a man in forties wore silver armor was standing.

"Sir Alex, it's not polite to talk with my grandfather like that! Although in a precarious situation, manner must still be upheld."

The man in armor was surprised at first, but after seeing who scolded him, his expression softened.

"My apologies, Princess Ruby, to make you saw the crude part of me. I'm really ashamed. My apologies, Duke. Please consider once more Your Grace. We couldn't delay it anymore. Excuse me and good evening."

"I will give you an answer tomorrow," The duke answered.

Alex then left the room hurriedly as if afraid of something.

"Welcome sweetheart, I haven't seen you for a week, and you looked tired, please sit down. You haven't had dinner, right? then accompany me," The Duke of Silverpool said.

While sitting on the seat left of her grandfather, Ruby said, "Why did you employ many of crude people as your aides?"

The Duke smiled, "My lioness, you can't judge people only by their manners. Sometimes, you found that crude fellows the most reliable and loyal helpers. I preferred that kind of fellows than the sly backstabber folks."

"Uh, whatever you want. By the way, why did you call me? I had many patients to take care of in the academy hospital," Ruby said.

The Duke sighed. His expression changed solemn, "How much have you earned?"

"Uh, about 30 gold," She spoke quietly.

"How can according to my calculation, you should only earn 24 gold?" The Duke said teasingly.

"My salary was increased two months ago to 5 Gold. I have told you," Ruby argued.

"Hahaha, I'm sorry. I'm a bit forgetful. But, It should be 28 Gold. I can't see you win your bet with Your Majesty like this. 1,000 gold is impossible to get before your 20th birthday only by working as a healer even if you can promote to be a professional healer."

"Because of that, I founded a battle ball team. I heard the rewards of the amateur tournaments are more than 100 to 500 gold. If we can win some of the tournaments, I think I can still win the bet," Ruby said seriously.

"Don't be naive Ruby, do you understand what battle ball is? If it can be won by an immature girl who didn't know at all about this game, it means thousands of the amateur teams on this continent are idiots," The Duke said provocatively.

Hearing that, Ruby looked at him fiercely, "You have done it, Grandpa. How about we make a bet?"
