Natasha walked in at around four, her shift starts in five minutes, but when she came behind the desk I told her about the detective, who had been waiting for over three hours.
Natasha went into my office, then using her wand she teleported out of the hotel, in search for Michael, about half an hour later she came out of my office, alone
"Where is he?" I whisper shouted, she pointed with her eyes towards the entrance, guess who walked in?
The detective stood up
"Mr List?" The detective stopped Michael, Michael nodded "do you know Claire? Claire Thorpe?"
"Yeah? She's my girlfriend"
"I'm arresting you on suspicion of murder" I blanked out the rest, no vampire had ever been arrested for murder before I ran around the desk, Michael was shouting, he was saying he didn't do it, he didn't kill her, and I believed him,
"Please Clarissa, help me, I didn't do it, please"
"No one can help you, I know what you've done" the detective looked straight at me, I stopped in my tracks, in that moment, the look in the officers eyes, it was more evil than anything Michael could have done, I knew in that moment that Michael was innocent and I would help him, the door closed and the cop left with Michael, Damon and Stefan came asking questions, they must've heard the commotion, vampire hearing and all, I explained what had happened.
"So what happens now?" Damon asked me
"Now I get a solicitor, a good solicitor and help out Michael"
"No, Clarissa, what if Michael did kill her...." I stopped Damon right there raising my hand I was going to hear non of it as I dialed the number of a good solicitor, Hank, one problem though? Michael may not like it, why? Hank is a werewolf, vampires do not like werewolves, why? No idea, I've never figured it out.
I phoned Hank and told him everything, Hank promised to be there soon, and I believed him, Hank and I went way back, he was a good friend, a great man, and a wonderful father and husband, his family loved him more than anything.
Hank is a great solicitor for the supernatural, he came to the hotel within half an hour, once he got here, we got greetings out of the way, and then Hank decided it would be great if he went and spoke to the police and Michael, I agreed with him, so after a nice cup of tea and a couple of custard creams he left to see Micheal, I trusted the man with my life, so I knew Michael was in good hands, if he's innocent he'll be out of jail, yes I did say if, I mean I believe Michael, I do, but Damon has been telling me how wrong I might be, and I'm listening to him, and doubting my own judgement. Here's a life lesson boys and girls, never let anyone tell you to doubt your own judgement.
Hank came back after five hours, five hours I was pacing, chewing on my nails, biting the heads off the residents old and new, Natasha and Damon pushed me into my office in the end and took charge of the floor, I was grateful, I was, of course I didn't tell them that, I was talking to myself trying to figure out where Hank was, I stopped pacing abruptly, the office was sound proof, I could hear nothing, if Hank came I wouldn't hear him, I had to get out, so I opened the door and walked out
"Damn it Clarissa, go back....."
"Oh put a cork in it, this is my hotel, I'm staying" my voice gradually got louder Damon put up his hands in surrender, I stood there staring at the door, until Hank walked in, I was so happy to see him I could've cried.
"Well? What did you find out? How is he? When are you getting him out?" The questions were not stopping but Hank spoke over me, shutting me up
"He's fine, and considering what he is saying, he should be out soon, I'm going to check CCTV footage from businesses around the area" Hank was saying, I must have looked confused because he went on to explain "according to police Michael followed her home from the hotel, then killed her, they have witness statements to back this up, but Michael is adamant that when Claire left he was still sleeping in the hotel" I took it all in trying to figure out why the police would lie, when I looked over at Damon he had the questioning look too.
Soon after, Hank left, and Damon admitted that he might be wrong, that maybe, just maybe Michael was innocent after all, I had to laugh at that, Damon Salvatore admitting he might be wrong? You don't see that often.
Sorry for the short chapter but I promise the next one will be longer.
