Many a creature blinked at me in confusion, seemingly torn between their desire for safety and having to play Five Hundred Basketball. As if I would evict the critters now after everything it'd taken to rescue them. My sympathy for their plight couldn't stop me from asking, though. 'You heard right; we need any interested athletes to join us over here.'
I started walking, watching out the corner of my eye for movement, but there weren't any takers. Likely, no one here saw themselves as athletes. So, I spun on my heels and let my palms glow red with fire magic. It was all part of the performance. Once the glow faded and the gasps of shock subsided, I conjured several orbs into the shape and size of a basketball. Then I let it dance from arm to arm, and when at last, I had their attention, I launched it in the direction of the stairwell.
