Ocean water splashed up against my knees as I landed during high tide. At least that's what it looked like from here. The golden sandy coastline appeared relatively narrow and must have been a good two hundred yards from where I stood.
The heat was severe, and already I was sweating. My feathers even felt as though they were about to ignite, so I submerged myself in the warm sea, taking care to keep only my head exposed. I couldn't stay like this for long, though, because I seemed to recall that saltwater only caused a person's skin to burn that much faster.
Why couldn't there be a barrier spell to protect against everything; my orb magic might have come in handy right now, but that thinking only led me back to painful memories of Everblade and everything that place had taken from me.
