'I'll ask again. How long have you been helping the Faeries?'
'I've told you. Gil acted alone-'
Gwenvere bared her teeth as her mouth stretched wide. 'Please. You expect us to believe she was able to do all she did without help?'
'Yes, she told me as much. And I've only ever seen one Faerie.'
The Ingaran began to hover with her legs crossed as she studied me. 'I was unable to track your movements for some time, Jake. Convince me you're telling the truth.'
I saw no option but to go over it all again. So I mentioned the Dragon Knights, Uvaaaru, Gil's merchant companion and even the damn pusher machine. However, I couldn't hope to tell if she was listening to me ramble.
'What are you doing?' Gwenvere asked.
I'd stupidly closed my eyes while trying to hear her thoughts. 'Nothing, I've just got a headache from the cold weather.'
'Well, you appear to be telling me the truth.'
