When I felt my wings start to flutter under the breeze, I scolded myself for not thinking of taking flight earlier. I was the very definition of a newbie in this world, and if I were going to survive, that would have to change.
I grinned with relief when I'd flown out of range; the wild boars were squeaking angrily, furious that their tormentor had gotten away. Ten seconds later, the name tags above them were no longer red, and they were back to minding their own business.
I'd forgotten about sky-dwelling creatures though, and I had to bolt back to the ground as a level eight Vulture appeared out of nowhere. Its presence was hardly fair, given that every other monster was the same level as me.
The bird was piling on speed, and I was struggling to get away from its snapping beak. There'd be no hiding in the tree canopies this time. I hit the ground with a thud and grimaced as I lost fifty health points.
