Everything started shaking, and metal groaned in protest as Nightmouth enveloped the outside of the station. The tiny lights that made up unimaginatively distant stars seemed to vanish behind its black vale.
'So much for the Black Suns coming through that portal to find nothing but hard vacuum.'
'How could Nightmouth have known it was a trap?' Stephen asked, his almost-perfectly laid plan failing miserably.
I nodded. 'You're right; it couldn't have.'
Cali looked at me. 'What are you thinking?'
'If it were me coordinating their siege; I'd have set Nightmouth to do as he's done; they've cut us off from Lar na Cathrach, and now that portal is useless to us.'
Melia looked intrigued. 'What else?'
'I would send my followers to search for another way in; I think we need to secure the other portal right now.'
