I waved the slow-moving Dauntless Devils' towards the portal. Most sped through without hesitation, but for two of the others, I knew the Manuari would get to them before I could.
'Butland, I need options.' We were cutting it close, but no sooner had I said it did three other portals open directly on top of our players. They only lasted a couple of seconds before closing to rip in half one Manuari who'd strayed too close to the event horizon.
'Will that do?' The Ingaran asked before bolting through the remaining portal in front of us.
'That it will.' The last thing I heard before sprinting through with little Downtown Delle clinging to my shoulder was the screams of angered Manuari.
Crunching, creaking, cracking and clunking; while Dauntless was near-indestructible, her returning passengers were not. Portal after the portal opened and closed, dropping each of them down almost every flight of stairs.
