Hilgarda tapped another button on her bracelet, this one blinking red. 'Jake, why don't you head out there while the rest of us wait for the drones?'
'What drones?' Somewhere beneath the pitted courtyard, a faint buzzing could be heard, growing louder with every second. So I nodded, then took off into the sky, almost bumping into someone that wasn't looking where they were going. The lady didn't stumble or alter course, though.
Then my eyes shot open when I watched one crumbling building glow white before turning pristine again, the debris falling ahead of it suddenly no longer an issue for the people below. The kid controlling this extraordinary ability couldn't have been older than ten. But, because he didn't have teleportation magic or super speed, he moved too slow compared to the ongoing destruction.
