Victor's POV
As I made it back inside the building, I encountered a creature with no eyes and as soon as I locked eyes with it; it lunged at me with sheer tenacity. I used ice powers to slow it down, but I noticed it shrugged it off like it was nothing and that I was only fueling its aggression.
It took a swipe at me, destroying my blade... Damn.
"Merry Christmas!!" someone shouted. The next thing I knew that it being blown to pieces. Joe..?
"Hey, I thought you were at the lab by now?" he said to me as he helped me up.
"I thought plants ate you by now?" I said jokingly.
"Let head up the lab," he said, moving past me. He would usually argue but...
"But Joe, we don't have the rejuvenating agent. Without that, the vaccine will not work." I said, concerned he may be impatient.
"Don't worry about that man, we're going up, we got everything we need." he insisted.
"Alright," I said indifferently as we got on the elevator.
Upon making it back to the lab, we saw our team eating a burger and milkshake. You kidding me... we are being infected and you are passing it on to other people.
"Joe. Victor! Have a seat and grab a bite to eat." Mark commanded.
We sat down as we share stories from Mark learning that Skip is Gay and is going to be a father, our encounter with the creatures at the Garden, and his hotheaded idiocy that almost got us killed.
"Yes, you. Joe. If you haven't lobbed a fireball, they would have perhaps let us walk." I said.
"Hey man, that ain't our fault and they are tripping about us being the erasers," he said, between bites of his burger.
"They were talking about someone else, obliviously," I said.
To learn from Sakura and Jenny, a revenant nearly killed them both. It was Skip's study on our enemies they have faced that give us an insight into how they think and function. We now learned the Infected called themselves "The One"... They speak as if they are different people, but with one mindset.
"So they are not mindless?" I said.
"No, it indoctrinates them into accepting the safety and comfort of their collective mind," Skip said.
"We got all that we need man, oh, and Vic..." Joe said, looking at me with a smile on his face. "Gotta get a blood sample from you, you have the rejuvenation agent inside of you.." wait... what?
"When you kill that plant, it has transferred its abilities to you so your blood has the ingredients that we need," he said.
"Well... It is an honor to give blood," I said without flinching when I used my Katana to draw some of my blood and gave it to Joe to synthesized the Vaccine.
"Okay, let me get this machine fired up so I can start making these babies, it looks like we are going to be cured!" Joe said with a smile.
