Kenzie Hope
The next morning was uneventful. Kaden had woken up and left before I could even open my eyes, leaving a note saying that he had to go train and to make myself at home because it was my home. He put an emphasis on that last part.
I decided that I should probably train, too. I didn't want to get too much out of shape.
'We're training. Meet me in the kitchen in ten,' I mindlinked Brady. He replied with a groan but did it anyway.
With that in mind, I changed into a sports bra, loose t-shirt, yoga pants, and Nike running shoes that I assumed Kaden got for me. I pulled my long, cream-colored hair into a messy ponytail before walking downstairs.
Brady was already there when I reached the kitchen. I swiped an apple out of the wooden bowl in the center of the island counter and threw one at Brady. We munched on our apples for a while and when we were finished, I searched in the fridge for a water bottle. I found two of them and tossed one to Brady.
I had never been to the training grounds before. That being said, I walked in the vague direction that I thought they were and hoped for the best. It took me a while, but I eventually got there. I also reminded myself to ask Kaden to give me a map.
When I arrived, there were wolves both fighting in human and wolf form. I saw Kaden and his Beta, Shane Morgan, but I didn't want to interrupt them, so I pulled Brady into one of the empty chalk circles and began.
At first, we were just warming up. We did stretches, jumping jacks, high knees, and things like that. Brady sat there and complained the whole time and did crappy work, so I made him do twice as many.
Once our bodies were warm, I had us spar. It was just simple- nothing crazy, not even full-blown hits, just taps- but I started to feel eyes on us. Brady looked around nervously and after I taped his face, and he would have gotten hit, he paid more attention.
Brady got in the swing of things again as he starting getting more into it, jumping around and dodging more quick. He even landed a few taps on me, which I was pretty impressed by. We were doing really good until some douche bag had to interrupt us.
"There's no women on the field," He said as he pushed me out of the circle. I just looked at him with a 'what the fuck' face and I was about to tell him what was up but Brady beat me to it.
"Just fuck off, we're training here," He scoffed at the man.
"Brady, language," I scolded him as I walked back to the circle, brushing off the man. I got back into fighting stance and so did Brady before I got pushed again.
"Okay man, what's you deal?" I snapped, throwing my hands up.
"If big boy over here wants to fight, he can fight me like a man," He smirked as his eyes raked my body. I rolled my eyes, tired of idiots like this one.
"Really?" I asked him, "Does your ego really need you to fight just shifted wolves to make yourself feel better?"
He huffed out angrily at me before beginning to yell, "Hot shot little princess over here thinks she can train with the big boys!"
I scoffed at him again before overconfidence saying, "Big boys? Try again. This little princess could take you pups any day."
Wrong. Wrong. Wrong. I definitely could not take a single one of these grown ass men who were probably full-time warriors.
"Wanna bet on that, Sugar?" He asked with a devil smirk and glint in his eye.
I smirked right back before saying, "Bring it, tough guy."
'Kenzie, I don't think this is the wisest decision. We should just go somewhere else to train,' He mindlinked me with fear in his voice.
'No one tells us what to do, Brady. I've got to stand up for us. No one else is going to.'
With that, mimicked the guy and got into a fighting stance. I really hoped I didn't fuck myself over as I watched a small crowd gather around us.
The guy spit as far as he could and it landed right in front of my shoe.
"Really? You're going to be childish about it? Goddess, if I would have know that I would have kept fighting my brother."
That comment angered him enough to send him flying forward. I took a step to the side and tripped him. "First mistake, never let anger control your punches," I told him, mimicking the words Jordan once told me. The guy huffed at my wise words as he stood up and we began circling each other again.
This time, I made the first move and took a jab at his face. He overestimated himself and didn't block it in time. My fist connected with his jaw and everyone heard the two cracks that ensued, one from his nose and the other from my fist.
Not wasting any time, he grabbed the arm that I punched him with and twisted it. My arm began to hurt and he forced into inhuman directions. I kicked at him blindly and luckily it hit him hard enough in the stomach that he let me go. This time I didn't waste any time and as he was doubled over in pain, I took my knee to his face, the same thing I did to the pervert on my first day at the rogue base.
He didn't like that as he grabbed my legs and pulled them out from under me. As I was struggling to get back up, he sat on me. He was able to get two good punches in my face before I flipped us over, making sure to trap his arms underneath my legs. I got him twice in the face as well before standing up.
"Are you done yet?" I asked. He still hadn't gotten up so I went over to him and held my hand out. He reached up to take my hand, but instead he smacked my ass. I didn't give him the courtesy of my help again, instead I kicked him in the balls. He definitely wasn't having children any time soon.
I heard a growl behind me, so I turned around to see Kaden and, man, was he pissed.
"Hi," I squeaked, nervous that he was upset with me. He ignored me and stomped up to me. Kaden swooped me up into his arms like a child and I wrapped my arms and legs around him.
"Who dared challenge their Luna!" He growled and it even made me tremble in fear. No one spoke, they didn't even dare move a muscle.
Except for Brady, of course, who pointed at the guy and said, "That dumbass. He spit on her, called her a little princess and Sugar. He even pushed her twice outta no where."
"Brady, language!" I scolded him again, but I couldn't punish him for the rest that he said, it was all true.
"Shane," Kaden acknowledged his Beta, "Throw him in the dungeons, I'll deal with him later."
"Of course," The Beta told his Alpha without hesitation. I heard the rustling of clothing and struggling, and even though I couldn't see, I assumed it was just what Kaden asked.
"Let this be a lesson!" Kaden roared to everyone in the area. I swear even the pack next door could hear it. "No one messes with my Luna!"
"Yes, Alpha," They all whispered, in fear of what they may do to him. Kaden nodded with satisfaction before he turned around and started walking away. I looked towards the men, only seeing terror on their faces. I mouthed them a 'sorry' and a few sent strained smiles my way.
'Brady meet me in the Alpha manor,' I mindlinked him, too scared to yell it in case it made Kaden mad.
"Are you hurt?" He mumbled into my hair as we got farther away.
I looked up at him to see those frosty green eyes and sent him a cheeky smile before saying, "I'm a-okay." He smiled back at me and put a kiss on my forehead. I tucked myself back into the crook of his neck, breathing in his woodsy scent.
I think I fell asleep momentarily because I only noticed when he placed me on a crinkling sounding bed and the smell of anesthetic hit my nose. I shook my head and rubbed my eyes before looking around to see that Kaden had taken me to the infirmary.
"What are we doing?" I asked with a yawn. He smiled at me in adoration but didn't answer. For a while, he stared into my eyes, then his eyes fell onto my hand, which was getting swollen. A light growl came from his throat before he moved his lips to it.
He kissed my swollen knuckles before involuntarily growling against them. His lips then moved up to my wrist, trying to heal any damage that had been done. That's all it took for my hand to be at its full game again. I suppose a kiss really can heal you, inside and out.
He looked back up at my eyes, those forest green eyes looking directly in my soul. He leaned himself closer to me until were just a breath apart. Once I realized he was waiting for me to make the final move, I leaned in closer, but at that exact moment Dr. Martins coughed and I jumped back.
"Excuse me," He said with an innocent smile. I turned tomato red as Kaden rubbed the back of his neck.
"She got into a fight," Kaden grumbled, obviously not happy about getting interrupted. Dr. Martins walked over to me and began checking my obvious vitals such as my heart and blood pressure.
"What seems to be the problem?" He asked confused because I was in perfect health.
"I'm fine, Dr., thank you for the checkup," I said getting off the table. Kaden growled lowly and lifted me back up.
"Check her wrist. She hurt that. Just check everything," He replied. The doctor smiled at me before checking my wrist. He notified us that it was fine and Kaden grumbled in response. Kaden picked me up, the same way that he brought me here, and started walking.
"Thank you!" I called to the doctor as Kaden trudged out of the infirmary.
"Anytime!" He yelled back with a smile and a wave. I smiled back at him before tucking my head in Kaden's neck and cuddling up into his chest.
It wasn't too long before Kaden sat me down on the soft material of the Alpha Manor couch. He mumbled something incoherently before disappearing into the kitchen. He came back with an armful of snacks and an ice pack. After placing the ice pack on my healed wrist and the snacks on the coffee table, he turned on the T.V.
He picked some random show before putting his arm over my shoulders and pulling me towards him. I ended up laying on his lap with my feet tucked under me. One of his arms was lazily strewn on my back while the other one was running itself through my hair.
It was oddly comforting as that's how we spent the rest of the day. I didn't last long as the effect he had on me lulled me to sleep.
