Chapter 22 :
Three Months Later :
Everything was perfect, Victoria felt like she was on cloud nine. Since that night, both Victoria and Axel went at it like a newlywed couple on their honeymoon. Ciro and Emma are happy that they have their father in their life living with them when they had first disclosed the news, Ciro acted like he was not surprised.
"From uncle to dad... Congrats on the promotion," was all he said before he and Axel started laughing at some inside joke. Emma ran to her room and cried for about an hour before coming into the living room in her pink silk pajamas and her teddy bear in her hand, asking Axel to read her a bedtime story.
Andrew on the other had just started speaking back to Axel, when Victoria told him that Axel was the father of the twins and the guy she'd been having those episodes about.
He freaked out claiming that he was supposed to be the second-best guy in both hers and Emma's life, which a bit seemed crazy to her at the time and also very hurtful, but she soon realized that it was just his way of being protective of her.
Victoria hardly saw Axel in the morning when she woke up, his side of the bed was always cold and vacant. Victoria saw a change in his behavioral patterns like the last time when they had finished their lovemaking.
She heard him on the phone talking to someone, 'no, some girl' Even though he was whispering. She could hear the femininity in the voice and spoke to Axel the next day about it, and he replied with the typical, 'It's just my sister' response.
He then continued by saying and I quote, 'I'd never thought I'll see the day when Victoria Jamespell would be insecure, Tori I love you and only you...please remember that' end quote.
Victoria then decided that she would both have fun and see if Axel had any known infidelity under his belt. So she did the next best thing any sensible woman would do if their sixth sense picked up on the possibility of their man cheating on them by throwing a ball party.
Hopefully, she'd have time to sneak away while he's busy and go through his stuff.
Victoria spent all-day calling different places to place her orders and making various appointments so that everything could be perfect; exactly how she desires it.
Her dressmaker will come by at six to take the measurements of the family, including Axel, so that they could receive the outfits in time for the ball party tomorrow.
Victoria was sitting around the dinner table talking to Andrew while Ciro and Emma were both eating their food.
"So I was like, hey why do you get to be like that though, and she was like... Umm, do I know you?" Andrew narrated as he recalled the situation that took place in the supermarket.
This happened when he went to buy some ice cream for his little Emma. Victoria thinks he's in love by the way he talks about her with that dreamy, faraway look in his eyes.
The same one that Axel used to give her when he spoke to her.
Ciro and Emma were both eavesdropping on the conversation that was taking place beside them.
They were extremely bored and decided to take advantage of Andrew's expression and voice; they turned their head to look at her other before nodding and running to the center of the room.
Ciro cleared his throat and held his dinner for up to his mouth as if it was a mic and said, "Lady and Gentleman, welcome to the house of theatrics."
This caused Victoria to look at Andrew with a confused expression that made him shrug and focused his attention back to the twins.
They watched as Emma ran to their makeshift stage with her imitation of Victoria's dress style today and had a brush in her hands.
Emma hummed as she grabbed Ciro's head and did her version of her uncle's hair on her brother and said in a chirpy voice when she was finished, "All Done."
"Cousin dearest, I think I'm in love," said Ciro in a dreamy tone as he walked on the makeshift stage doing his imitation of his Uncle.
"What now Andrew, as you can see I'm busy right now" imitated Emma as she pointed towards her phone. Ciro walked towards Emma, took the phone from out her hands and said, "Don't be like that, I'm the one who's always listening to your dilemma" he pointed out.
And at this time both Victoria and Andrew had their hand covering their mouth. They wanted to laugh, but they did not want to interrupt the kids' performance.
Two lines later they were on the floor calling out to the children, "Hey... T-that's the worst imitation of me ever," said Andrew as he tried to cover up his embarrassment.
Victoria, on the other hand, gave both Emma and Ciro a stern look that caused them to stop what they were doing, looked down on the floor and apologized in a cute voice," We're sorry Uncle Andrew."
Andrew watched as both Ciro and Emma went upstairs to their rooms. He turned towards Victoria when he knew they were out of earshot and said as he walked out of the room.
"Those kids are gods... Gosh, they can do everything."
"Yeah," whispered Victoria as she watched her cousin walked out of the room.
There were a lot of things on Victoria's mind other than her kids' antics. It was almost time for her to go to bed, and Axel was still not home.
He'd left right in the middle of their fitting after his phone rang. He said that it would only take a minute, but this was more than a minute. She sighed and went towards her room and sat on her bed.
'It's too late to tell him now and I'm tired,' she thought.
