Chapter 14 - 13 Mistaken Identity

Starting from the moment he woke up here, Kael began to explain everything.. except his abilities. While this particular noblewoman may be trustworthy; or at least appear to be. He knew better than to allow someone with ties to a particular kingdom to posses knowledge about his powers. Who wants to be a weapon after all? At the mention of his "Amnesia", Olivia gave a deeply wrought frown, even some lines on her smooth features showing. Once he explained how he had wounded the Drakeling however, she went silent. Staring at him cautiously, she began to formally introduce herself finally. "As I said yesterday. I am Olivia Dravlyg, firstborn of Count Harn Dravlyg. I chose Military service to our domain to prove my merit and gain reputation that I earned myself. Father has insisted that I focus on gaining strength and such. But I prefer to help my people." Her eyes had not left him, locked on any minor movements he made. Was he that dangerous?

Looking at her without armor covering nearly every inch, she was quite pretty. You wouldn't think of her as a swordswoman. About 5'9 (1.75 meters for you who use metric), she had a slender frame with a moderate chest and hips, long legs with a slightly lean look to them, her arms slender but toned with muscle from many hours of training, though not obvious enough to make her look oto muscular. Her face reminded him of the elves he had met, angular cheeks and features that accented a pair of striking amber yellow eyes beneath platinum blonde hair that wreathed her face while it was not put into a bun for combat.

"So, Kael. What exactly is your plan for ending the Drakeling. Not only did you survive, but you even wounded it. Such a prideful monster is surely blindly enraged to the point of slaughtering whatever it meets until it finds you." She stood, her hair tumbling down her back from its resting spot on her shoulders, and began to fit her equipment back on. "Well... I have some skill with Illusion magic. So I was thinking about pulling the same trick on it again, but this time I have a trap. Like a pitfall or a tangle of vines. Though with its speed and ability to change sizes that would likely fail..." With a constipated expression, he wracked his brain to find anything, ANYTHING that wasn't sneaking into its lair and ending it while it slept. But, his will to survive and get stronger ultimately won out, making him accept his fate as a cheap shot player.

"I'm going to sneak up on it and shove my dagger where the sun doesn't shine. If there's a place I can hurt it badly, I'm sticking it there." Oblivious to how that just sounded, Kael stood back up and got his things together before gearing up and moving to exit. Olivia however, stood still in shock. "You... That's... How deplorable.." The minor disgust on her face was only beaten by embarrassment, as she was a noble's daughter; very much of her life was heavily sheltered and pampered despite her roughing it in a far off guardpost. "Monster or not, to violate any beings flowery parts..." She trailed off, backing away slowly.

"Wait what." Alarmed instantly by her misinterpretation, he turned on a dime and started hurriedly explaining. "Nonononono. You don't get it. I mean I'm going to hit it where it hurts. Give it a low blow. Strike below the belt. Fight dirty?" Throwing out any possible clarification, he assured Olivia that he would not stab it in the ***hole unless it was absolute life or death. His dignity intact, he rushed out to the trail again, reminding himself to be much more careful how he says things from now on....

About an hour later, and a lot of wrong turns and false tracks, Kael finally found a somewhat den like area. A small, mouthlike cave was almost carved into a cliff face surrounded by forest, trees hiding it from sight. Plenty of slash marks and claw holes dotted the surrounding ground and foliage. If not a Drakeling, something with pretty sharp claws lives here. Entering the assumed den, he made sure to make use of [Stealth] noticing that it had went up to 3 without him noticing, sticking to the walls of the cave. A slight musty smell was in the air, along with the scent of... burnt meat? The Drakeling, descended from dragons as it is; was unable to make fire. Yet the marks outside this den clearly looked like its own. Fear shot through Kael like goosebumps on a cold night, sudden and swift.

The only way to know what lived here was to go deeper. The claw grooves came more often, and sank deep into the walls of the cave. There was a small, person sized gap seeming clawed into the wall, a smaller opening with a fire's glow emanating from the outside. "There's absolutely no way that a normal person could live here. Back in the game were there any humanoid monsters with shape changing powers...?" As a low leveled player, Kael had nearly no information aside from forum threads and some tutorials for getting slightly better at specific skills. But humanoid monsters were undoubtedly the higher tier, usually either [Demon] monsters or something on the [Legendary] scale.

As he crept into the opening, a young woman wearing a tunic made of hides was in view, roasting what looked to be a boar over a fire in a pit made at the center of what seemed to be a living space. Before he could get a better look, she turned to him directly and looked him in the eyes. "Human.. you may leave with your life if you tell no one of my existence. While I admit you stalk nicely for a lesser being, I am far above you to be considered prey." With ruby colored eyes and hair the color of blood, the woman stood slowly. From behind her, a slender, scale covered tail slid from under her tunic. Upon further inspection, there were scales dotting the area around her eyes and neck, horns curling from the sides of her head.

"Oh, shit."
