Shawn was walking towards his Father's office. As he opened the door, Ethereal looked down upon Shawn with a faint yet gentle smile. Ethereal hair was a faded blonde, as for his skin beaming with life, His freckles were light to see on his peach skin, but they were there. His tail followed the small color as his hair; once his tails stop moving, you can see a bandaged tie around it. His ears perked up as for his unkempt whiskers. A scar over Ethereal face gives him a scary look at first glance. Those that know him knows he means no harm.
"Hey, kiddo. What's up?" Ethereal asked.
"I have Zane's report. Here you go." Shawn replied as he handed over the folder.
"Zane's report, you say? Alright. What do we have here?"
About to open the folder, Ethereal hesitated for a moment and asked, "Are you still willing to retrieve these reports for me?"
"Of course, I am! I am willing to do so for the sake of us getting peace. This is our secret, of course." Shawn said.
Namine, Ethereal's Wife, came from the end of the hallway calling out to him. Namine have her silver-like hair tied up in a ponytail; her pale skin glowed along with her smile. Her icy blue eyes were like fresh ice. Her ear perked up with her bushy silver tail wagging.
"Honey! I have gotten everything we need!" Namine voiced trailed off.
As Ethereal approached his wife, Shawn gave out a sigh and walked off.
"Where are you going, Shawn?" Asked Ethereal.
"Don't worry about me. Just gonna rest for a bit," said Shawn with his back turned to him.
In a blink of a moment, Ethereal remembered something and stopped Shawn to ask, "Shawn, have you been practicing your fencing footwork?"
Shawn nods" Yes, I have, all today, actually. Why did you ask Dad?" He then proceeds to walk away from Ethereal, disappearing in a corner.
"Quick question, Ethereal. Where is Zane?" Namine asked.
A cold sweat emerged from Ethereal. Shawn stopped and let a sneeze out of nowhere; he then replied, "Another sneeze today, weird." Shawn then had a sudden shiver go down his spine, "Eh, let's not think about it..."
Shawn gave out a sigh and proceeded to walk down the hallway. Pondering about Zane, he thought to himself, "I wonder if he is doing okay..."
He then started to snicker, which soon led to a laugh. "Who am I kidding? He can handle himself! What he can't handle are his sleeping habits." Shawn kept laughing till it died down. Shawn kept walking down the hallway, mumbling to himself. As she stopped dead in his tracks. Both boys looked alike but with a few changes when one stares for some time. Silver like hair, blue eyes, peach skin covered with freckles across the bridge of their nose, and cheeks was the same on each. His hair was more oily compared to Shawn's, well-kept hair. Their eye color is a different shade of blue that is easy to mirror. His ears were the same size and height, but his whiskers pointed down as Shawn's were pointing up. His eye was like raccoons, surrounded by bags. Shawn's eyes were big and filled with life.
"Did someone place a mirror here?" Shawn asked.
Zane rolled his eyes and replied, "What are you talking about? Stop acting surprised when you see me. We are identical twins; of course, I look just like you idiot."
"I know, I like to play around with ya. Where have you been? You have been around less than usual." Zane answered, "You need to get your memory fixed. I have been on missions, Shawn. I take care of stealth missions, while you take care of scouting missions."
"I don't blame you, Zane, but so long as you are back in one piece, then I can't complain." Shawn smiled.
Zane's stomach started to growl, both boys gave contact. "My stomach tells me it's lunchtime." Zane requested.
"Geez, Zane! You always forget to eat! It's about to be dusk. Let's hope the cafeteria is still open. How did the mission go anyway?" Shawn smiled.
"It was fine. Turns out, my mission was very lacking. It was rather easier than normal. A bit too easy..." Zane hesitated.
"Lacking, huh?" Shawn corks his eyebrow, "Well, at least you did something in the end to finish the mission." Shawn says.
Zane smiled and stopped in front of a door. "Is dad inside?" Zane asked.
"He was when I was there. But I do remember he was heading off somewhere with mom." Shawn stated.
Zane knocks on the door, which seemed to open at the touch. Shawn peaks through Zane's arm, "He is not here, Not even mom." Shawn states.
"I can see that," Zane says with a slightly annoyed tone. Shawn goes past Zane and walks into the room to look around.
"Shawn, what are you doing?! We should not be looking around!" Zane whispered.
"Come on, let's see what we can find when he is not here," Shawn whispered back.
"Shawn, let's go out of here and head to the cafeteria! I am hungry." Zane whispered.
Shawn walks around the desk and gets down on his knees and forearms. Zane follows him into the room with fear.
"Oh, hello, Zane, what brings you here?" Shawn smirked and imitated his Father.
"I am here to get you out of Dad's room." Zane barked.
Shawn finds a box that seems to have their names on it. He reached for it and hit his head on the desk.
'Gah' "How did I forget about the desk?" Shawn grumbles. Zane rolls his eyes as he walked, behind his brother. Shawn gets up from below and rubs his head. Zane then smacks the back of his head, right where Shawn was rubbing.
"Let's get out of here." Zane notices the box in Shawn's hands, "Hey, what's that you got there?" Zane asked.
"A box...with our names on it. There is another one but has Megan's name instead." Shawn states.
Zane takes off the card from the box, which reads, "To the silvertail twins, my beloved prized sons."
Zane reads the card….
["Dear Silvertail twins,
I want you two to be strong during this time; for you, both are my pride and joy. When you two were born, I was shocked to have two boys, but those years were some of the best in my life. I loved being near you, having such amazing boys like you. I did not want anything to happen to you two, but like Shawn once said, "life is not fair." I do wish for you two to live in peace...sadly, my wish was denied. So I must ask you two to please make my wish for you and your sister to live in peace with humans come true. Zane, please keep Shawn from doing anything reckless. Make sure he does not get hurt and explain to him about the things he lacks knowledge of. Shawn makes sure that Zane eats and sleeps. You two are now in charge of sector26 in my place. Take care of them and lead them to victory. Don't give up even if you have not tried another way; Shawn once said this with pride when you played his games. Those were the good times when your antics could brighten my day. Today it sadly will not be like that; we now have to fight. Make use of the contents of this box. I love you two; please make me proud.
Love your Father"]
"So I have to make sure you don't do anything reckless. As for you, make sure I get some sleep and eat. Also, dad placed us in charge of Sector 26." Zane summarized.
"Why do I need to worry about your sleeping and eating schedule!" Shawn barked!
"I mean, he is not wrong at all; you bring more trouble than you think. Want me to share stories of those times now that we are on that topic!" Zane smirked.
Shawns eyes go wide in response, "Let's not. What does dad mean by we are in charge of sector 26?" Shawn asked.
The box jumped a little in Shawn's hands. The twins stared at each other, then back at the box, then opened it.
"Did dad as a bird or a mouse in here?" Shawn asked.
"I am going to bet it's dead now," Zane stated.
Once opened, Shawn looked inside. Once the box was freed, Shawn looked inside. A couple of notebooks and a dagger.
"This dagger looks very familiar, No?" Zane stated.
"Yeah, I wonder if this is Xan. I remember it from when humans raided our homes. How is this here? Dad may know something about it!" Shawn stated. "Wait... did I close the door?" Zane asked.
"Yeah, you have. The door is shut close."Shawn stated as he turned to the door... As the door slowly opened.
The door opened up to Ethereal.
"We have to be there by sunset."Namine mentions.
"Of course, We can get there right on time," Ethereal stated.
Ethereal looked under his desk. The two boxes were neatly lined up next to the desk's wall. The cards were placed in the boxes with no change.
"What's wrong, honey?" Namine asked.
"Nothing I just checking," Ethereal muttered.
"Well, I have everything packed. Do we forget something?" Namine asked.
Ethereal opened a drawer and took out a list.
"Perhaps We may have to mention these to the rest of the team," Ethereal said.
Ethereal read the list carefully and head out with Namine following behind.
"They did not see us?" Shawn asked.
"It seems so. We managed to hide just in time."Zane stated.
Shawn popped his head out of a bin fill with two backpacks. Zane got down from the ceiling. Zane landed with a small thud. Shawn got off the other bin. His backpack strap wrapped around his leg, tripping him to the ground. Zane turned to Shawn with worry.
"You okay, Shawn? Did you break your nose?" Zane asked.
"I am fine. No nose bleeding." Shawn stated as he took off the strap. He got up and looked at the contacts of the bin.
"Two backpacks?"Shawn asked.
