Placing a hand over her lips, Margaux hushed me to stay silent. From where we were hiding behind the bush of their backyard garden, Felix, their gardener was busily tending to the red roses that are in full bloom.

Sprinkling water and humming a classic song which I remembered my mother would sometimes hum herself, he was unaware of what we were about to do.

I put a hand over my mouth, hiding my giggle and not giving away our location.

I would bet that he didn't even know we were actually watching him.

His graying hair shone in the morning light. The blue checkered shirt he was always wearing has long faded. Along with his blue jeans and scrubs, Felix looked the part of a normal gardener.

However, being the gardener for the Cortez for almost half his life, I think it was safe to conclude that he was more than just a gardener.

Ever since I had known Margaux, Felix has been there.
