I placed a hand over my heart, the unseen pain tugging on my insides made my legs turn to jelly as I waited for the room to fall into an inaudible silence.
A Japanese lady had fetched Mary and I was left to hide inside the closet. It was almost empty except for a few select clothes which I would assume were Mary's. They were hanging in upper and lower apparel sequencing each other.
It was how Mary preferred to arrange her clothes. If she had blouses or a t-shirt in the front line, the following piece of clothing was either a skirt or pants. Most of the time they also come in pairs.
Mary claimed that this way, it was easier for her to select her clothes for the day.
However, she doesn't usually pick those clothes inside her closet and would fish out her favorite ones from the dryer.
The memories flooded my mind and only made my chest hurt even more.
