MARY
My heart was hammering hard against my chest.
I have often seen other people when they get married, they have happy tears running down their faces. They are what people would call tears of joy.
However, the tears that had formed in mine weren't of joy. They were of regret and sorrow.
If there was anything I could have done to have stopped this from happening before I had been bound in this deal with my father selling me off, I would have gladly taken that easy way out.
Unfortunately, there was none.
The sudden knock on the door had me tentatively grabbing a tissue on the box in front of me.
I dabbed at my eyes, careful not to smudge the light make-up that Himari had skillfully put on me.
I cannot afford for anyone to see me crying.
"Come in," I called out, trying my best not to make my voice tremble.
