"A one-week trip to Japan?" I had my fingers crossed behind my back. My father's voice didn't mask the confusion that was also visible on his face.
"Yes. Dad. It's an all-expense-paid trip sponsored by the visitor who came to school. It's like an exchange program. Just for one week."
I know one week of absence from school might be a little of an exaggeration. But I have no clue how long it would take for us to come back after securing Margaux's friend. There was no assurance either that we can make it out alive. However, I had no plans of dying just yet.
My mother's killer was still somewhere out there. I can't let him or her have the pleasure of living like he or she did nothing wrong, I need the person to pay. Being locked in prison might not even be enough but for my father's sake, I will have to accept that ending for him.
