Jade's throat visibly tightened at the big reveal. Astoria just had to break it to her that way.
"Yes, and I'm sure Xander can feel it too," Astoria added, watching Jade's shoulders slouch.
"Oh, God." She bit her lower lip, her mind racing in ways on how to probably control it.
Like a huge wave, Jade's uneasy feeling swept at Astoria whose eyes remained wide at the change.
What had she done?
She did not expect Jade to take it that way.
Quickly, Astoria tried to correct her errors and lift her spirit. "Don't worry, I'm sure he's just trying to be a gentleman and not jump you."
Jade's eyes darted to Astoria. The crease on her brows pressed harder. She couldn't say for sure. "I don't know, Astoria. I'm not sure I can hold on for long."
