Prologue 1

IZHAAN's POINT OF VIEW

It was a long day for me, I was exhausted with the back to back meetings followed by the long flight I took from Milan, I was not keen to meet anyone, I rigorously wanted to be in my room and doze off. However, Nani was having her own plans, she was very enthusiastic about dinner. Initially, I felt it was because she missed me, after all, this time I took a month to return back home.

It was an alarm for me when she said to be dressed appropriately in fact, Nani chose one of the finest shirts from my walk-in. I am sure this is her set up to play her cupid game.

It took a long time for me to convince her that I am not going to marry the girl mom chose for me before she passed away. Nevertheless, I am still struggling to make her understand that I don't want to get married neither the girl they chose or any other.

"nani if this is any of your tricks to make me meet someone as a suitor, then I am notifying you that, Now is not the time. I am awfully exhausted " hearing it Nani Ariya replies with a sarcasm " as if you would have accepted to meet someone when you were not exhausted. this guest is someone you would thank me after meeting"

Hunching on the sofa I was having a coffee waiting for 'oh so special guest' of nani to arrive. I cannot say it was a long wait, because the doorbell rang just when I was about to finish my coffee.

"Oh, there she is" I heard Nani's enthusiastic voice. "Sorry Nani, I had stuck in traffic." the guest responded with silvery vocals.

I raised my gaze to look at the person, she looks familiar she looks like....is that she? is that Ahana? But how could that be? she lives in Lucknow with her Father and steps family, doesn't she?

I saw her coming towards me along with Nani. Her eyes were trying to resist me all the time. Damn those hazel orbs still has the power to captivate me, just like the moth gets enthralled by the flames."Izhaan look Ahana is here," introduced Nani bringing me out of the strange thoughts. She gazed at me and said "hello" I shook her delicate hand and gave a nod.

She scrunched her eyes still looking at me expectantly of something. I don't know what, but I can see she was discontented.

Never in my life have I ever felt so anxious. I cannot believe she is the same girl to whom I used to look after, she was a genuine doll, all the time running behind me and Ma. She surely has flourished into beautiful women. However, pushing aside her unusually beautiful personality, I am distracted by the concern of what is she doing here? Last I heard she was in Lucknow!!

A mouthwatering smell of food was getting set on the dinner table by the house staff. It compelled us to relish the feast.

Ahana settled on the seat opposite of mine. It was impossible not to peek at her. I attempted to make a conversation but was deceived by my tongue. It is very strange, there was a time we used to eat in the same plate because Ahana liked getting fed by me and would throw fits if I would not feed her whenever she was at our place. today we are sitting on opposite sides barely able to glance at each other without anxiousness.

Where is that demanding Ahana gone? I wondered. It was a gravely silent meal up until nani broke it and I was so glad she did.

"How is your project going?" inquired nani. Hearing that question Ahana's hazel orbs sparkled. She started talking about all the ideas she possesses and what she worked on today.

So she is a fashion designer that's good, some things never change. She always liked it when Ma used to design her clothes. Ahana used to watch her keenly. In fact, I remember Ma teaching her some techniques.

After dinner, she left the house although Nani wanted her to stay back. When nani started pursuing her to stay back, I was eager to hear her mere `Yes'.maybe by spending some time we could have erased the awkward silence within us.

"When did Ahana came to Mumbai?" I inquired of Nani the second Ahana left. "You must be tired, go get yourself some sleep we will talk tomorrow." Nani sassily reminded me of my fatigue. She was right Ahana was indeed a guest for whom I am delighted to meet.
