It was a cloudy day, no rain, nor any wind. It was dull and that felt like a bad sign, but Leia ignored it. Because today was the day. July tenth, the day she'll get her acceptance letter from the high schools she applied to. The tingling sense in her stomach was strong, the nerves put Leia on the edge of her seat these days, but she had hope. Her body was tense as she walked faster to sit down on her seat at the dinner table, Leia looked at her family members around the dinner table. "The message will come today," said the oldest daughter of the family. "The message will come today, and I'll hopefully get in," Leia repeated again, it was almost like she was trying to calm herself down.
Time always went slow for Leia. Every minute and every second went like days and years for her, Leia craved constant changes, maybe that is why she cut her hair short at a local salon and even dyed it to light brown at home by herself without telling her parents. "You will get in, don't worry." Leia's mother, Mrs. Yuzuru reassured, thought Leia didn't know if that bought her more relief or more pressure. Leia nodded weakly, smearing her strawberry jam on her bread. The family continued on eating while talking with each other, while Leia ate without saying a word. Leia craved a change, and the school she applied for will surely provide that. All she needs is the acceptance letter and she will be fine, as that thought had been taking over her mind for weeks now.
"I'll go check it now," The sixteen year old girl said, a nervous smile on her face as she abruptly shoot up from her seat. With her father's nod, Leia did not think twice before rushing downstairs to her shared bedroom with her five year old younger sister. She quickly walked to her desk, sitting down with her phone in her hand as she typed into the website for her answers. Logging in, she only came to face with the sign that told her to wait as there was many other students just like her that waited for their own answers. Leia drummed her fingers on her desk, ignoring the mess of papers on her desk.
Leia had a bit hope, this is where she will get in right? With her heart beating hundreds and thousands of miles per hour, a small smile were on her face as she waited for the answer she were so sure she will get. Imagining the days on how she will be going to her new high school with her new friends in the centre of her town, now known as New Aresey. Leia promised herself again that she will work harder this time.
Glancing at her phone again, showing that she has to see through what she has applied to. Feeling little on patience, Leia simply skipped through all the applications she did, the acceptance letter was more important for her at this moment. However, never in life, did Leia expect to see this.

The dread and shock that is filling the room could not even be described with words. "So, how was it?" Leia flinched harshly at both the question and the sudden voice that seemed to appear out of nowhere. "Let me check it," She muttered, even though she already knew the answer. She did not get in.
Technically, there was still Orton High that accepted her, but the said high school were only a vocational high school. No offense to any of the vocational schools out there but Leia simply did not want to be educated in that. The girl wanted to go to those famous colleges around the world like University of Westden, University of Mistlyn and more, but Orton high doesn't give her the education and the chance to do that. Plus, it was in a town far away from New Aresey which is the town she lives in. There is nothing more Leia could regret more than at her past self blindly choosing high schools to apply to a few month ago, since she was once so sure that St. Bitford High would accept her. She logged out and back in again.
But the results remained the same.
All the color were lost from Leia's face. Leaning on the seat, the girl simply did not know how to process the news. "What did you get?" The father pressed on, Leia almost forgot that he was still here. "I..." Leia started, not meeting her father's anticipating eyes. After all, Leia simply did nothing besides letting her family down.
"I did not get in," She finally gathered enough guts to say it out loud, it was admittedly harder than she thought to get those words out of her mouth as every word weighted down her shoulder a little by little. "What..?" her father slowly said. Panic instantly settled in as Leia stuttered to get her words out. "I- I mean that I'm just on the waiting list! There will surely be people that changes school!" the teen reasoned, not lifting her head from her phone screen as she simply couldn't dare to look at her father's face, she did not want to see the disappointed look her father Leia is so sure he has right now. "Just give it a day or two," Sighed out Leia, brushing a hair through her light brown hair that the color was slowly starting to wear off.
"Alright, if you say so," Nodded Leia's father, turning to make his way out of her room, only for her mother to storm in next. "Did you not make it?" She questioned worriedly, trying to get a glance of Leia over her husband's shoulder. "We should let her be for a hvile, she must be stressed out. Questioning her none stop will do her no good, dear." The father said, resting his hands on the mother's shoulder as he turned her around and walked out of the room together while the mother's hushed whispers could still be heard.
"I didn't get in..."
And the storm and rain finally arrived that day.
