Chapter 1 - Prologue

Gabriel:

Many times I have found myself to surrender my lost thoughts up to the moon late in the morning before dawn while everyone is lost in their own lives. I can't recall when was the moment I last felt this sense of peace, especially after abiding one of my father's lessons. Subconsciously my hand ventured up to my neck where I traced the scar on my neck my father graciously burned into me when I was younger. As I stared up at the moon lost in thought the sweet metallic aroma of blood made my mouth water, even so, it made me wonder. Why this delicious scent so late at night?  Tonight is like any other, yet, why do my surroundings feel outbalanced in away. Soundlessly I followed the ravishing smell of mundane blood; the mouth-watering aroma led me to my father's chamber.

Curiously, I lean in enough for me to see through the ajar doors. I watched as my father sensually drank from the neck of a naked moaning mundane woman; he held her in place but as her body swiftly moved up and down on my father. I knew my father to be a ruthless king who devours mundanes for sport, for they are disposable, frail, and worthless beings as he puts it. I personally find no joy in killing such weak beings; I guess that we do agree on. Her moaning becomes louder as my father thrusts up at her making her beg for more. As I watched I felt my guts twist whereas my mouth waters at the scent of her delicious blood. She raises my father's face up to hers and gives him an open mouth kiss causing herself to be stained with her own blood. My father pushes her head back as he bites into her breast, her lips smudged with blood, her eyes filled with lust as her mouth continues to open and close with each stroke my father makes. I could feel the pull to engage feasting on the mundane but the feeling of resentment for my father is fairly reasonable. My father's glowing red eyes caught mine, he showed me a slithering grin before he returned to eat from her.

Before I could think or have the chance to react, in that exact moment soft cold hands drape over my shoulders making me a jolt. I turn to see my mother's soft smile.

"Gabriel, shall we get some fresh air?" She whispers sweetly into my ear, she glares at the door but turns to me with a kind smile.

I nod unable to speak.

Off we went down the corridor to the opening balcony that overlooked the lake. My mother is known around to be the 'Doleful Rose' of the first realm. Sorrowful, even when she smiles, her petite fragile figure seems weak even for a vampire of her caliber. My mother Mariam Tellurian: formally known as Mariam Craven from the house of Craven known to be the seventh of eight of the royal family as they are from the pure bloodlines. Even with such status, my mother refuses to drink the blood of mundanes, she usually eats any animal she can find or whatever the local mundane butchers have hunted for the day. Her jet black hair framed her heart-shaped face as the light of the moon made her skin seem statuesque, pale, soft, porously.

"I'm sorry you had to see your father enjoying his late-night festivities." My mother's angelic voice brought warmth to me.

"'Tis the blood that brought my attention, not my father nor his festivity." I snap.

Her green eyes darted at me. "Although you say so, your eyes gleam with true. Share interest?" Her voice sounded gentle whereas her face seemed a bit daring.

I look away from her. "If my eyes have changed mother I am sure it was due to her blood. I Only see them as food. I could never fuck them." I continue. "Nothing more."

"Gabriel," My mother took a hold of my chin forcing me to look at her. "Humans are more than that... my son."

"Hard to see them other than the weak beings they are Mother." I spit as it was poison.

My mother's green eyes changed glowing red as her soft demeanor changed, a threatening aura surrounded my mother. She looked down at me with disgust.

"Father as a son." She says voice deep.

"M—"

My mother then struck me, I looked back at her while I wipe the sudden warm blood falling from my cheek.

"Mariam!" My father growls coming into view. "Strike the future king once more and I shall cut your hand."

"Future king?" My mom mocks as she faces my father who wore a black silk robe. "OUR Son-your son. He's not just a title Draco." Her eyes water in sadness as she looks from me to my father. "A King does as the King sees..." Her voice cracking as she continues. "Gabriel is the exact king you wish him to be... for that alone, I have lost the will to even want to strike him again. I have lost him too." She walks away tears falling down and with no other word my mother has gone.

"Pathetic." My father chuckles.

I could never glare at my father, even if my deepest wish is to see him burn, but all I could do at this moment is stare at him emotionless.

"Your mother needs to be reminded she is a pureblood, it's repugnant to giving pitty to our food and enjoyment." He says shaking his head in disagreement. He then sighs and holds out his hand to me.

"Come, my Son." He emphasized his son as to prove he doesn't see me as only the future king but as his son.

After saying farewell to father and retreating for the night I headed towards my room but before I could arrive there was a loud crashing sound followed by my father shouting my mother's name. I ran as fast as I could. For us vampires, it only takes a blink of an eye to run fifteen miles, but I hardly had to blink before my body stopped cold when the smell of my mother's blood filled my head, making me dizzy. My body felt numb, a cold chill ran down my neck and my spine. I began to feel sick. Before I knew it I was kneeling before my mother's bloody corpse, her green eyes open wide in shock,  I analyzed her, I saw she held a silver dagger in her left hand her body was surrounded but sharted glass maybe she bumped into something before she- I then noticed in horror; did she... did she stab her own heart, taking her own life? My father held my mother's head on his lap as her body began to turn to stone.

Memories of my mother began to play in my head, an overwhelming feeling of grief welcomed me as I stood there blankly watching as my mother died before me. If I knew that would be the last time I would see my mother, I'd hug her. Tears fell down my cheeks as I sobbed in silence.

"Wasted." My father whispers as he strokes the last bit of my mother's soft black hair before it turns to stone.

"What did you say?" I said it before I could think, couldn't stop myself.

"Her blood... she was such a valuable pureblood. Now I won't be able to produce more heirs."

"Was she only a means of breeding your evil seed?!" I shout in anger. "My mother was more than that!"

My father stood up as his eyes changed bright red. "Feelings are for the humans my son," he darts his eyes sideways at me. "You dare speak to me in this manner Gabriel?"

"Father that's enough!" Cayden snaps stepping between me and father.

Our father scoffs and shrugs at us even cackled under his breath. He faces us giving us his villainous grin.

"You two were always the weakest ones... It enrages me! Even after all the humiliations, the countless lessons. You two are my eldest sons and my only male heirs! Bethany, now that's someone worthy of the Tellurian name! I would crown her king! She has more balls than the two of you!" He snarls. "But that title must go to my firstborn!" He took a hold of my face and held it tightly in place, he stared into my soul as he spoke.

"YOU are the heir of the house of Tellurian, king of the first realm! Vampires, humans, werewolves, and witches or warlocks from all over are to quiver when spoken of our name! You must stop being such a human with feelings and own what you are!" He smiles evilly and lets out a chuckle. "Or you can take your own life just like your weak mother!"

My body shook in rage, I pushed myself away from my father, but my body moved on its own. In a blink of an eye, I managed to snatch the dagger my mother had used and plunged it into my father's chest right, into his black heart. It all happened too fast for anyone to properly react. But as I held the dagger into my father's chest cavity I could hear his continually shouts, his whip clashing against, I  saw recollections of all the sufferings everyone in this family had to endure from this monstrous man. After the blindness of rage wore off my eyes widened as I noticed my father only smiled back at me as his body began to turn into stone.

"You are a killer... you ar-are a Tellurian..." I pulled the dagger and stared speechless at my father's body, he died with a smile on his face. Happy that I had killed him... the dagger fell from my hand and clanged loudly against the marble floor.

"I HATE YOU!" I screamed in anger back at my father. My eyes filled with tears, my body still shaking.

"Gabriel-" My brother Cayden held me.

"What-what- '' My sister Othilia ran towards us, eyes filled with tears. "Happed?"

"You killed him..." Bethany stood zombie-like at the corner of the room, eyes widen staring at the floor. "You ki-killed father."

"Bethany take Othilia to her room, please." Cayden orders.

"Fuck you! How dare you order me as like nothing has happened?! He murdered our parents! You killed father and mother!!" Bethany charged at me but before she could reach me Cayden got hold of her throat and slammed her against the floor with such force creating the ground to crack underneath her.

"You would defend him! You worthless piece of shit!" Bethany yells up at him while she squirms beneath him.

"Cayden stop!" Othilia pulls on him. "Please stop!"

Othilia is the youngest of us: We are pureblood vampires, meaning we are born instead of made.  We purebloods achieve the infant stage to adulthood all in a course of six months and we stay in our adult age in appearance for centuries. Othilia looks like a twelve-year-old but she was just born three months ago. I, on the other hand, am 25 years old, whereas Cayden is 21, and Bethany is 19. We all appear to be in our mid-twenties despite our different ages.

It took me a few minutes to compose myself and analyze everything that just happened. To calculate where we all stand individually, to accept that I am the head of the house Tellurian…I'm… I'm the king. I stood before them, I felt superior to them as I gawked at them.

"I am your king."

Bethany stood still eyes filled with rage as she stared at me, Cayden stood up straight whereas Othilia tugged on Cayden's shirt and hid behind Cayden a bit: she looked deeply sad to me.

Cayden smiles and bows. "My brother, Gabriel Tellurian, the king of the first realm."

"Gabriel-" Bethany's back faced me. "You may be a king, but you will not be my king... to me... you will always be the one who murdered our parents." She walked away and out of view.

"I will stand with you big brother." Othilia gave me a sad smile.

I gave both my siblings a smile full of compassion.

After tonight, I am the vampire king... The King of the first realm.
