Maxwell

My name is Maxwell Johnson and I'm 17. I live in Cantaberry, WA.It has been 2066 years since World War 3 and economically we are still healing from it.We are on the verge of another war and if we don't fix what's going on than World War four will commence. This is how the world went to shit.Let's begin.

I'm walking home from football practice and it is getting dark and I walk along my family's farm with horses on one side and sheep and llamas on the other. When he got closer to my house, he noticed a white van in the front yard. I walk over to see what's inside.I open the back of the van and I see there is nothing inside so I close the back.I walk inside my house so I could start my homework.

"Madra, I'm home" I yell waiting for her response

"I'm in the kitchen" Madra yells back

She walks into the living room and walks over to me and kisses me on the forehead.

"How was school" Madra asks

"Fine" I respond sarcastically.As I walk to my room to put my backpack and binder in there I notice it is quieter than usual  so I stop for a second before I continue walking to my room.

As I start my homework a mysterious woman in a white cloak  appears outside my window. I look at her for a few seconds before she vanishes I run over to my window and look down at the ground below me. My phone rings which startles me. I look at my phone and see that my friend Jason texted me asking If i'm at home.I text back "ya why" but he doesn't answer back which is weird but I don't anything think of it. I look out my window and see nothing but the clear night sky. I get a weird vibe so I close my window curtains. As I continue my homework I hear a voice. "The prophecy will be complete." I get a cold chill down my spine and I turn around.There's nothing there. I get creeped out and I close my notebook and walk over and lie in my bed trying to ignore the continuous voice that I can't place a body to.But the voice would not let up with the speeches. It sounds like a cry for help. "Help me, Come to Oasis Regional Library." I sit up fast and looks around.

"What the heck?" I say nervously out loud to no one in particular

"Hurry get here fast or I will die." I look up at my ceiling not knowing what I'm supposed to do. I continue to ignore the voices. I stand up and when I do I get very dizzy and I lay back down and the dizziness goes away almost instantaneously. This time I sit on the edge of the bed and I get a headache."Get outside your head will clear Now Go." I get off my bed and runs outside trying not to disturb my mom. When I get outside there is a girl outside sitting on my porch.

"Who are you and where did you come from?" I ask

She turns and looks at me " My name is Kinsey Washington and that's not important right now and are you Maxwell Johnson?" The girl says in a german accent

"Um ok, ya how do you know me?" I ask suspiciously

"I work for a secret organization." Kinsey says

I try to go back in my house but I can't move. I look around in a panic trying to yell for my mom but I can't move a muscle.

" Now now don't try and run from your destiny." Kinsey says

"What destiny?" I ask irritated and confused

"Oh you don't know,you poor boy well that's not for me to tell you " she replies 

"You need to get away from her she is going to kidnap you she has me and a few others locked up I'll help you get away from her grasp when I say now run for the van as fast as you can"  I get ready to run or at least as best as I can. "Run"  I sprint to the van stumbling a little on the way there. The back of the van opens and I don't see the doors open and I run right into the bumper and I fall in the van and then the doors close and the van starts to drive away from my house.I grab my shin as it hurts badly so does my head and a light turns on and I see three people. I can't see their faces or what they look like because they are wearing heavy cloaks and masks.

"Are you Maxwell Johnson?" the person driving asks

"Ya." I reply

"Ok, I'm Alex." he says then he takes off his mask, the others do too and I recognize one of them

I look at the girl"Aren't you Jason's older sister Anna?" I ask her

"Ya" she takes off her cloak and sits down."how have you been?"

"Other than having a splitting headache and a bruised shin I'm good." I reply sarcastically

"I can help with the headache if you want" she smiles at me while Jake looks at me with jealousy

"Do you like him?" he asks

"No"she says to him

"Um how would you help me?" I ask She walks over and places her hand on my head and my pain goes away and I jump a little when I feel energy transfer between us"thanks for that and what was that?"

"ya ,no problem and that was magic" she replies. She looks at me and smiles

The boy looks at me even more jealous" My name is Jake." he says

We stop and as we stop I slide forward into the front of the van. I stand up and looks out of the front window to see a truck tipped in front of us and on fire. I get out of the van and the truck explodes.Just as it explodes debris goes everywhere and I duck a piece of debris

"That was close." I say as I get back in the van" So where are we going"

"The Cave of Fortunes to find the swords of Life and  Death." Alex replies. I sit back in my seat. We rode in silence for the next few hours well at least I think we did either that or I fell asleep.

"So where is this infamous Cave of Fortunes at?" I ask wanting to know why it's been so long

"Athens, WA" Jake replies

"Athens thats 194 miles from here!" I reply surprised

"Actually we are 10 miles away" Alex says

"Ok." I say confused

I rest my head back and I close my eyes when the van stops abruptly. I look out the window and I see the engine is smoking. Alex gets out to check it out just when a car sideswipes him going about 80-90 mph. I jump out to make sure he was ok. I run around back and throws the doors open.

"We need to go someone just tried killed Alex and the engine is shot." I say frantically

Anna and Jake look at me like I just did something wrong.

"Come on, We need to go!" I say

"Take Anna, Jake turned on us" "Go the other half of your family is on their way" I grab Anna's hand and that snaps her out of it.

"Jake go get Alex and the get to the side of the road, we'll meet you guys over there" I say

She looks at Jake and then she kisses his cheek and jumps out of the back and we run towards Athens. " If  you need advice just think it and I will help" " What's your name" I ask "Allaster but you can call me Alla" Alla replies "Nice name" I say " Thanks, now get going," she says. We run for about 10 minutes before a couple in a red and silver pickup truck pulled over.

"Do you need a ride?" The passenger asks

"Can we ride in the truck bed?" I ask not wanting to get stuck in the back

"Sure, where do you need to go?" The person driving asks

"Athens." I answer quickly and I look behind us and see Jake running up fast

"Ok." The driver says

Me and Anna hop in back and the truck starts up and we start to move leaving Jake and Alex behind. We get to a gas station right outside of Athens and we get out.

"Thanks for the ride but we'll walk the rest of the way." I say nicely to them

"Thanks" Anna says to them

"No problem, Now we can't let you get any further" They say at the same time and then they fuse together like something out of a nightmare.

"RUN!" Anna yells and grabs my hand

I sprint with Anna " What the heck is that?!" I ask

" That is a Drago Hydra and they are dangerous just keep running" Anna replies

" I have no clue what that is but u say it dangerous that's all I needed to hear" I reply as we run

As we run I feel like the energy is being sucked from me and I start to slow down and I slowly start stumbling as the world blends together in to one color. The last thing I remember is my head hitting the ground.

"Max wake up" I hear a voice yell but it sounds far away but thats when reality hits me and I sit up quick and I notice I'm in a small concrete cell with a metal door and nothing else."Max! Wake up you fool." I look around.

"Who's there?" I yell frantically

"Max its ok it's me Allaster." I move so my back is leaning up against the wall. "Alla?" Just as I was about to move a slot on the door opens and I have to cover my eyes so I don't get blinded by the light that the slot lets in.

"Who's there" I cough faintly

"Good your awake." The person says "stand up and place your hands by your side and don't move" I look at the door confused but as I try to stand my legs give out from under me and I fall to the ground.

"I can't stand" I shift a little so that my legs are resting straight and not crooked "you'll have to carry me because I'm not capable of standing on my own right now"

"Fine, but if you try anything I will drop you and make you crawl got it. You can call me JS" he says as he walks in and puts an arm under me so he can carry me to wherever I'm going. After what seems like an eternity we get to a metal door and when JS open it I headbutt him and stumble away. I keep walking looking for any signs of life when I hear an ear splitting scream and I cover my ears and try to get away from the sound as possible.

"Max help me!" someone yells from somewhere

I look around confused trying to figure out where the voice was coming from when the voices return and I grab my head.

"Stop it get out of my head!" I yell scared.The voices say all together "we can't Maxwell we are a part of you."

"Well that's cryptic." I shudder

"What's Cryptic" A voice says behind me and I stop in place not wanting to turn around"It's ok Max its me Anna"

I breathe out slowly in relief and turns around and looked her in the eyes. We stand there for a moment before a siren goes off. "Get out of there now you have 5 minutes." screams Alla

"Not so loud" I say out loud

"What?" Anna asks confused looking at me. Then we here shouting and I grab her hand."Go straight until you reach the fourth hallway then take a right then go twelfth door on the left open it and go inside it will be the control center" Alla explains "Got it" I reply . I follow Alla's instructions but when I get to the room, it's not a command center its a cell with a girl chained to the wall.

"I was told this was a command center" I say frantically as I walk up to the girl and I put my hand up to her neck to check for a pulse

"Who told you this was a command center." Anna coughs for running so hard.

"Allaster." I reply 

"What, Max she's the reason we're on the run we were safe until she told our enemies where to find us" Anna says unsure of what to do

"She's been helping me so far" I say as the girl on the wall groans in pain"Are you ok"

"Y-y-ya I-I-I'm f-f-fi-fine a-a-and p-p-please d-d-dont hurt me" she says scared

"It's ok i'm not going to hurt you" I say "do you want help down from there?"

"Y-ye-yes p-pl-pl-please"she cries. I look at the chains and they break apart and I jump back a little. I turn around and look at Anna.

"Did you do that?" I ask surprised

"Maybe." Anna replies with a sly smile

I shake my head and help the girl to sit up after she fell." A little help Anna I can't get the cuffs off?" The moment I ask the cuffs break and I look at her wrists and see they are red from bleeding and hanging there for a while. I wave Anna over so that she can work her magic.

"Can you heal her wrists please?" I ask horrified of who would do that to such a little girl. As her wrists begin to heal I feel an odd sense of well I can't describe it but it felt like protection and joy mixed together.

"Can you tell me your name please?" I ask politely and I smile at her.

"My name is 647825Y." she replies and she looks up at me

"Well that's not gonna due." I say quizzly " You are going to need a real name." "Is there a name you would like to have?"

"Bre."She looks at me and smiles

"Ok then you can come with us Bre." I pick her up and walks over to Anna " What do you think Anna, can she come with us?"

"Ya ya ya she can come." Anna replied enthusiastically.i open the door and looks out in the hall and then I step back inside. I have Bre get on my back then i walk out of the room with anna following me. As we step into the hall a siren starts blaring at an ear-pitching sound.

"This way follow me"Anna yells over the sirens." the exit is this way." We run and as we run I hear shouting and then gunshots fly past our heads. We keep running as we get to waterfall.

"We have to jump!" I yell over the gunshots and the waterfall "you ok bre"

"Ya i'm fine"Bre replies

Anna jumps and I jump and as I hit the water I black out.
