15 July 559 a.v.d
It's very energic today, as usual, people are crowding the streets and talking noisily while shopping and wandering freely in the city. It may seem so peaceful at first sight, but deep in the dark alleys, starving people are lying on the streets, dying needlessly while nobody really cares about them.
Most of the population don't even know about their existence. I do, because I live there, but right now, I'm trying to get a better life for myself, that's why I'm working at the old Obaa-chan's bakery in the imperial city; the kingdom's capital!
"Youya-chan, catch!" said the old owner of the vegetable store while throwing an apple to me.
"Arigato Ojii-chan" I replied after receiving the apple with a big smile and continued running while taking a bite of the juicy red apple.
Making my way through the crowd is a piece of cake for me. With my tiny body and this dark outfit, It was impossible for me to be seen, while I with my sharp eyes could spotify all the bystanders.
That was when I saw a strange person who was wearing a long black cloak with a hoodie. It wasn't that unusual considering the fact of this city being the capital where most gangsters, participants in the black market and slaves traders do their "work". But I felt something specific about that person, there were strange vibes coming from him that made me stop and stare at him.
I think I started at him too much that he turned around and looked in my direction, how could he possibly feel my presence? Usually for some reason, people don't notice me easily even if I try talking to them. But yeah I guess that's because I'm tiny and little.
Anyway, at that moment I freaked out. This city is more dangerous than you could imagine, a 14 years old boy like me could get kidnapped in the daylight and nobody would notice, let aside care!
I stepped back a few steps with shaky legs, my sight only focused on that strange person who just stood in silence. I couldn't even see his face, and that scared me even more that my tiny steps turned into fast jumps.
"Watch out!" Said a stranger's voice.
I didn't know what happened until several gasps came from literally everyone on the street, I turned around and saw that I accidentally bumped into an under-construction shop store, and that a huge part of it was about to fall on me. But wait, what?
It's already been a while since I heard the warning, why am I not dead yet?
I took a look around and saw everyone in a shock staring at only one thing, the floating debris!
There was a strange-looking black smoke surrounding the area and keeping it from collapsing, I followed the thin thread of smoke to its source with my eyes only to find it coming from that person who scared me from befoRe.
Now I was able to see some of his face, even though the hoodie was still on. He had a pale white face, half of it was hidden with a white mask that covered only the left side of his face including the left eye. His other eye was clear green, and his white hair was longer on the left side and almost covered the whole half-mask thing while it was gradually getting shorter the more to the right side you go. He seemed not older than 18 years old, but most importantly, he had an
emotionless expressions that gave me icy vibes to the core.
The boy moved the debris carefully and placed it on the ground with his smoke that I guess he could control with his left arm since he was stretching it out. It took me a while to wake up from the shock and to realize, but he really did save my life, didn't he?
I wanted to ask a lot of questions, but most importantly I had to thank him.
"You monster!" Said a loud shout right when I was about to walk over to my savior and thank him. It didn't take any longer for the attendees to start throwing insults and all kinds of offensiveness at the boy. Someone even threw a rock at him! I really didn't understand anything, I mean yeah that was quite a strang ability he used but it did just save us all!
Before I was able to do anything, the boy turned around and walked into a narrow alley between two buildings.
Everyone started to calm down and everyone took their own paths and continued doing whatever they were doing as if nothing happened.
Strange. What kind of reaction was that?!
Anyway, I needed to see that boy again, at least so I can thank him. I ran to the alley he entered but....he had just vanished....
