Chapter 1 - Chapter 1

Lonnie Rickman turned over in his bed, his slumber was interrupted by the buzz of his cell phone.

BUZZ BUZZ buzz

" yea"

Be at 17658 2nd Avenue, pick up in 30 minutes

Lonnie pulled himself out of his bed and stretched, he could hear his mom was still in her bed with the guy du jour, both snoring. Lonnie crept Into her room and opened her wallet, removing one hundred fifty dollars from her purse, crimping it up and sticking it in his pocket.

Lonnie creeped out the back door, closing it quietly and proceeded down the filthy, smey hallway of the government run project he and his mom lived on 45 east 229th street in a run-down neighbourhood in a bad part of the city. Lonnie had to hold his nose always stunk of beer, urine and feeces. He could hear arguments going on at full volume even this early in the morning as well as bed squeaking like mad men and women screaming and ecstasy.

he was happy to get out onto the street even though it was only 6:30 in the morning and the sun had me in come up yet but there was a crisp feel in the air has the leaves began to fall on this early October morning.

Lonnie walked down 229th Street to subway station and stood on the cold Bleak and dark subway platform waiting for the D train to take him downtown to make his pick up. he shivered slightly in the cold he never had enough warm clothes to wear, his mom was always drunk and never had money because you always been it on booze cigarettes and drugs.

The subway screeched into the station and Lonnie found a seat near the back of the last subway car. as a subway car Screeched out of station the, the city breezed by quickly and soon the sun was coming up over the dreey buildings of the lower east side.

Lonnie got off the subway and headed down Avenue c, which was in the lower east side of the city, a poor very working class neighborhood of mostly black and immigrant workers, hard men leading hard lives.

Crossing avenue c onto 2nd avenue Lonnie cut down a scraggly field and found 17658 2nd avenue. It what is the street that had certainly seen better days and now was covered with newspapers drug paraphernalia and condoms not to mention the obligatory dirt that seems like it had been ignored by the city.

Knocking on a large brown door, a pair of dark brown eyes peared though a dirty slot, looking down on the boy in a back jacket with a red hat turned backwards.

The door swung open and Lonnie walked in and was allmost propelled backwards by the smell, a purid blend of bad body oder and high grade pot smoke. The smell was allmost overpowering.

Lonnie walked in and there were all these large men scurrying around with bags filled with white powder.

" sit your ass down" a large man man in a tight t-shirt and equally tight jeans pointed to a wooden chair.

" yea, says you" Lonnie snapped at him glaring right in his face, his deep brown eyes bathing in hatred. Lonnie never liked Authority and wasn't gonna start now.
