Chapter 6 - Retaliation

The Head Maid swung the knife wildly, trying to hurt the young Lord. Woojin simply took a step to the side to dodge, leaving the maid to crumple on the ground. As the woman attempted to get back up, Woojin examined his surroundings. The servants and chefs in the kitchen were watching the spectacle, not bothering to assist him. Some diverted their eyes and others hid behind the people in front of them, but no one attempted to interfere.

'Figures.' Woojin smiled bitterly. 'But even for servants, isn't that a little too low? They won't be able to find a higher paying job than this..'

He heard a feral growl to his right, leading him to stick his leg out, tripping the Head Maid just as she lifted her arm to launch another attack. She sprawled on the ground, her bony arms shaking as she tried to support herself.

Her bun had fallen apart, leading to strands of thin hair to cover parts of her face. The apron that she had been wearing had fallen off at one point and the black dress that was worn underneath was crumpled due to the multiple times she had come in contact with the ground. The reactions were very...diverse. Most onlookers gave her looks of sympathy and/or nonchalance, while some even looked angry.

'I think' Woojin pursed his lips. 'It's time to wake them up from their dream.' Woojin lifted his hand and a golden aura veiled itself over him. The golden mist pulsed and a bright light emitting from his eyes pronounced the definition of his glistening orbs.

" [Bind] "

The incantation had an immediate effect, causing the Head Maid to slam herself on the ground, immobilized. Whispers immediately broke out, everyone completely shocked by the Lord's actions.

"What?"

"I thought that he was a defect..."

"What's goi-..."

The voices were drowned out in the woman's head as her expression morphed and realization dawned upon her.

'I disobeyed- he's superior- but he never had magic-' Her thoughts ran 100 miles per hour, while her eyes shook violently. She turned her head upwards, only to be greeted by the stoic expression of the young Lord.

"Hic!" She gasped in surprise, eyes wide as saucers even when the Lord started standing up.

"Call the guards and put her into an empty jail cell." The Lord ordered. Immediately, chefs ran out to go fetch the guards.

"Isn't that an attempted murder of a noble?"

Whispers continued to travel around the room.

"She's going to be punished severely..."

"Isn't the punishment exile?"

"I heard that it was death!"

'No...I'm going to be punished- I'm going to die!' Her bottom lip quivered. Woojin turned away, getting ready to leave.

"NO!" She shouted. "NO, PLEASE! SPARE ME! SPARE ME WOOBIN-AH!" Her sobs wracked her whole body, as tears rolled down her cheeks. "I'VE KNOWN YOU EVER SINCE YOU WERE A CHILD! ARGH! THIS ISN'T FAIR!" She grew angry, starting to attempt to thrash around.

Woojin turned around, and relief painted the maid's features.

"Even until the end, your respect towards me is non-existent." He glared.

The Head Maid was filled with despair after noticing her slip-up. Three guards came to her side after bursting through the doors. They picked her up after the Lord dispelled his magic, and the maid tried once more to gain Woojin's attention.

"WOOBI- NO! I MEAN- MASTER! MASTER PLEASE!"

'Woojin-ah.. don't leave us..' a memory of a child flashed before Woojin's eyes. This time, he was familiar with it. His eyes started to get moist before he lowered his head to hide the tears.

"SEND HER OUT, NOW!" Woojin ordered.

She was quickly dragged away despite her protests, and the Lord sighed.

"What are you waiting for?" He scowled at the servants in the kitchen. "Get to work." They hurriedly turned away and got to their places, leaving Woojin some time to calm himself.

'I think.' He blinked tiredly. 'I need to take a walk.'
