Chereads / The King Of North / Chapter 4 - 2. I'm not afraid to die

Chapter 4 - 2. I'm not afraid to die

Everything was blurry, days went by and I didn't even know it.

My head always hurted, my stomach was always twisted and my broken heart was far from repairing.

My tears fell when I felt my wolf dissapear.

Two weeks went by, my wolf was still in pain, but I, I couldn't make myself to feel. I didn't feel anything I was just, gone. I was wandering in forests, hoping to find something to eat, but my luck dissapeard when I left my pack.

Yes my pack, are they thinking about me? Do they miss me? Because I miss them, every day I hope that this all is just a nightmare and I will wake up in my bed, with my father giving me a hot tea to calm down my nervers, my mom hugging me and wiping away my tears. But it wasn't just a nightmare, it was all real, and I had to get use to it. If I didn't I would die, well it's not like I care if I die. It didn't matter to me anymore. I lost everything I had, all that was left was my broken heart and Stella, Stella that was almost at the end of her strenght. She was tired just like me, she din't wanted to fight anymore and neither did I.

I stopped in my wolf form before a little lake. There was a little waterfall next to the lake, I hoped we could take a bath somewhere and well this time the luck said yes to me. I shifted back to my human form and I stepped into the water. I almost groaned when the water took me in, hugging my body, letting my stress sink deep into the water around me. But as always there was something bad about this heaven and I sliped on one of the rocks under the water and hit my head. I softly whimpered and sat myself on the shore. I touched my head and felt the blood coming from the cut on my forehead.

I sighed and not giving a shit about my injury I jumped into the water. Swiming under water for a while I emerged out and took a deep breath. I felt my body getting lighter and lighter, so I took it as a signal and calmed my body and just left the water to move me away from this world. After few minutes I got out of the water, but my steps stopped as a deep growl erupted from someone, in bushes near me. I looked up and watched, as three wolves got out of the tree line. One of them was much bigger then me, his dark brown fur shining in the sunlight. The other two wolves were light brown, I would say almost caramel brown.

The bigger wolf growled at me and I tilted my head to left trying to find out from what pack they were, but once their scent got into my nostrils I almost stopped breathing. They were Lycans, the direct descendants of the Moon Goddess the mother of all supernatural beings. Lycans meeting a lowlife like me in the middle of the woods meant only one thing, I had trespassed their territory and that was not good at all. I was going to die. Once these thoughts crossed my mind I crouched to the ground, strenghtening my stance I shifted into a wolf, to make sure I had at least a little chance to get out.

"What do you want here werewolf?"

A manly voice appeared in my head almost spitting out the last word. Yeah lycans despise werewolf and other "low" creatures. They think very high of themselves, their prides and egos are enormous.

"I didn't mean to trespass your territory. I'm sorry, I will leave immediately."

They growled again and that was a signal for me to run. My legs started moving, my body shifted away from the Lycans and I started running. I could hear them howl and their massive bodies closing on me. I knew they would get to me soon, I had to think. Looking around me I saw a really high tree, I was excellent in climbing so I knew what to do. I abruptly stopped and ran to the left, when i was right infront of the tree I shifted into a human form and started climbing. The Lycans started growling once they saw me on top of the tree. I smelled the air and looked around, I could see that their territory ended just few feet away from my current position. Looking down another two Lycans arrived to help, I smirked, they really needed so many warriors to take down a low werewolf like me?

'How funny.'

I gasped and smiled.

'Stella you are back'

'Of course, I would not let you die alone you stupid'

I shook my head and giggled which made the beasts stop and look at me. I felt Stella nugging my body to move and I listened. Steadying myself on the branch I ran towards the other tree and jumped. Landing on the second tree wasn't as graceful as I tought, but atleast I didn't fall down like and incompetent idiot. Well the third tree was quite the way away from my current position. I frowned and stretched my legs, I prepared for the possible fall and jumped. I catched one of the branches and hung on it as if my life depended on it, well it actually did. I pulled myself up on the branch and sat down. My head started spinning and I felt nauseas. I felt my body slowly becoming numb and then I fell. Right after I hit the ground with a loud thud everything went black.

********************

A sharp pain in my body woke me up and I slowly opened my eyes. Fear devoured me as I finally looked around me, I was chained in a small cell, in what appeard as a dungeon. The chains around my wrists and ankles were made from silver, which burns werewolves. I could smell my burned flesh, but what made me want to vomit the most, was the smell of blood and death surrounding my whole body.

Tears stung in my eyes as I tried to blink them away, I took deep breaths and calmed down enough to start thinking again. Looking around I scaned the room. There was not much to see, but something in the cell beside caught my eye. As I focused more I realized it was not something, but someone. It was a women in her forties, she was curled up in the corner, shaking. I smelled and realized she was not a roque, she was a Beta Female.

'What is a Beta doing here?' I asked myself and tried to get closer to her, but the chains didn't let me. I almost cried out as the pain hit me. The sound obviously woke her up and she looked at me. Her frigtened eyes made me gulp.

"Hi."

My voice was like a thunder in the quiet room, but I didn't care. Her eyes watered and I sighed, I tried to smile but It didn't work out.

"H...h..hi."

The soothing cracked voice got to my ears and I looked at the Beta again. I almost screamed when I realised her face was on the bars. Her scary eyes looking right to the core of my being.

"Do you know, where we are?"

I asked in a shaky voice. I felt my strenght leaving me, the silver was not doing me any good. I felt like I was gonna pass out. 'Wow I leave for a second and you almost die' Stella exclaimed and I smirked in my head at her. She laughed and I felt power flow through my veins again.

"I think we are at the North Kingdom where the King resides."

I immediately froze on the spot.

"What? How did I get so far?"

"Hmm, what pack are you from?"

"Crescent Moon pack."

She gasped and covered her mouth. Her eyes sparkled and she came closer to the bars. Moving her hand she gestured for me to come closer. I did and she took my hand in hers.

"I heard that our new Luna is from your pack. She must be beautiful and generous, I bet no wolf can keep their eyes off of her."

My eyes almost fell out of my head, I completely forgot that the time has almost come. The new Luna will be picked soon. Ah I wanted to see her coronation so much, but I guess I will be dead by then.

"Are you sure? It would be such an honor, I wish I could see our Luna."

"I'm sure, the witch has predicted it just two days ago, the King is getting ready to go there, all the females that come from there must come back, even the mated ones. But I still think that our Mother (Moon Godess) would not let already mated female be a Luna."

I nod and carefully observe her as I ask the fateful question.

"Why are you here? I can smell you are a Beta, where is your mate?"

Her eyes turn dull and her enormous smile dissapears. She sighs and looks away from me.

"My mate....my beloved husband is dead, he was killed by our former Alpha, just for dissagreeing with him. I'm here because I tried to kill that asshole of an Alpha for what he did. He wanted to throw me in the pit, but the Alpha senate thinks differently, that is why I'm here, waiting for my trial."

"The pit? I'm really sorry for what happened to your mate, but I think they shouldn't punish you too severely, I mean he killed your mate, everyone would want revenge especially if the Alpha didn't have a good reson for killing him, that is literally abuse of power. The Alpha should be the one getting punished"

She was suprised when I started getting angry at her ex-Alpha, but she smiled and agreed with me. She caressed my cheek and smiled at me with tears in her eyes.

"The pit my dear is the worst punishment you can get, it's used only for those who disrespect or try to hurt our Luna. I can't even tell you what happenes when you get thrown in the pit, it's too disgusting."

"But if it's used only for that, why would he want you to get thrown in there? He is an asshole."

"I don't understand that either."

I shook my head in disbelief. I never expected that in such a short period of time I would know about two Alphas that are a pain in the ass.

"Oh I almost forgat, what is your name?"

"My name is Isabelle dear, what is yours?"

"Aurora, but friends called me Rora."

"Why called, do they call you something different now?"

I laughed a bit, my heart ached from just thinking about my friends, well they weren't my friends anymore, the were enemies now. The hated me for something I haven't done, they wanted me dead.

"They probably call me a traitor now, I don't even know. After i left no one contacted me, no one cared about me anymore. Maybe my dad does, he loved until the last second, so I guess he migt still be calling me his daughter, I hope...I just.....I miss him so much."

My eyes stung, but no tears left my body, I couldn't cry anymore, there was nothing left in me.

"Oh no, what happend dear? I believe your dad still loves you, dads never stop loving their little princesses."

"I was framed for a crime I did not commit, I was rejected by my mate and kicked out of my pack. No one believed me, my own mother helped to frame of such a disgusting crime."

"What? Your mother? What a disgusting woman."

I just nodded and looked at my chained hands. I felt a bit better after telling someone my troubles, but there was nothing to heal the emptiness inside of me, the emptiness that was eating me from inside. A hand caressed my head. I looked up at Isabella and just let everythign out. I told her about the nightmares I have, about the emptiness, the bleding heart I'm trying to repair. I just felt good talking to her, I felt like I could trust again. After we cursed out my mate I laughed with her and realised I wanted to know more about her. So I asked her a ton of questions until the one I wanted to know the aswer to the most came up.

"Do you also know how our Luna looks like? I just want to know everything about her. I never got to meet a Luna, because the previous Luna died before I was born, so I really wish to meet our Luna before I die."

Before I could get my answer the door to the dungeon opened with a loud creak, an enormous silhuette appeared in the door. My breath hitched as i recognised the smell, it was one of the Lycans that got me in the woods. I stiffened as he walked inside with two other Lycans behind him. They all were much higher than me and sure would be able to tear in two pieces in just a few seconds. Isabelle next to me screamed when they opened her cell and went inside to grab her.

"Hey leave her alone you buffoons. What are you going to do with her?"

They all looked at me, Isabellas eyes were full of unshed tears and unspoken words of pleas. I quickly grabed her hand and hold onto her with my life. I had the feeling that if they would take her away she wouldn't come back and I wasn't letting anyone hurt my new friend. The Lycans got pissed and the biggest one went into my cell. Almost riping out the door he stomped his way to me and grabbed my hand. I screamed in pain as I felt my bones shatter under his strong grip, his fingers dug deep into my wrist, but no pain would make me let go of Isabelle.

The Lycans were really angry, but I didn't care, as the big buffoon in my cell tried to grab my hair to pull me backwards my instincts took over and I bit with all my strenght into his hand. He screamed in pain and tried to punch me in my face, but I let go of his bleeding hand and get down on the ground. Letting go of Isabelle to get this ass on the floor I grab the silver chains and ignoring the pain I wrap the chain around his hand and slam him into the ground. After I quickly get behind him and wrap the chain around his neck, choking him I look at the other lycans and growl.

"Let her go or I'll kill this dumbass."

They let Isabelle go and she runs out of the cell to me, hiding behind my back she starts wispering in my ear.

"I know a way out, tell them to get you out of the chains and then follow me, there is a secret passage they won't get through because they are too big."

I just nod and do as she says, as the guards take off my chains I let go of the Lycan in my grip and then i kick one of them in their crotch and the other one in his head. They fall on the ground with a loud thud, once I'm sure they are out and won't follow us for a bit we make run for it. We go out of the door into a long gloomy hall that ends with a staircase. Isabelle stops before the staircase and then steps on the right corner of the first step, after about a minute three of the steps dissapear and a dark little tunnel appears.

Isabele gets in and grabs my hand and pulls me in, the stairs go back into their places and we start crawling through the tunnel. I can feel the ground shaking a bit and a bunch of loud yelling can be heard above us. We continue for a few minutes and as we progress the tunnel gets bigger, until we can easilly stand up and walk. After what feels like an eternity we get to old pair of doors. Isabella turns to me and smiles.

"Behind the left door is a tunnel that will lead you outside the North Kingdom territory, the right door will lead you to a very high tower that is actually only accassible by this door. I will go through the right door first to have a sense of direction, want to do the same?"

I just nod and so we go through the right door and walk up the many stairs that are there, I'm completely out of breath by the end and once we are on top of the tower I fall down on the floor and just breath to get my strenght back. Isabell laughs at me and then looks at the scenery infront of us. She gasps and start pointing somewher. I get up and look where she is pointing, a beautiful sunset is gracing us with it's last beams of light. I smile and after the moon regains full control over the sky I scout the area around us.

"Hun there is the exit, we will get out right there between those high trees, which means that if we go right we will go towards the Blood moon pack and on the left is a human city, we could go and hide there. And once we get enough supplies and money we could travel to the Sole pack, it's the only pack that allows creatures to find sanctuary from the justice. I know someone that lives there who could help us out."

"Are you sure? I know that they have their own court that can save us from the punishemnts, but isn't there a lot of criminals?"

"No actually, anyone that was rightly convicted is sent back to where they came from, but they help werewolves like us, that were convicted of something they haven't done or had the right to do."

I just hummed in response, I wasn't too sure about this plan, but i just felt like I could trust Isabelle, so at the end I went with her. We walked down the stairs and into the door on the left. The hall infront of us was long, but that didn't matter to us. We changed into our wolf forms and ran to the exit, by now the guards must have woken up and inform the other guards, I didn't know how much time we had. We needed to hurry.

When our paws finally touched the grass I almost barked in happiness, but I knew that any unecessary sound would tell our enemies where we are. We had to act quickly and get out. So we ran again. We ran for hours and were really close to the end of the territory, but we were too slow, a bunch of Lycans surrounded us, there was way we could get away from them, but i knew that I won' give up without a fight. Isabella looked at me and nodded. We both growled and got ready to attack.

When the Lycans attacked I realised their formation broke and we had a way to get out of this situation, I mind linked Isabelle and told her my plan. When I finished a Lycan bit into my leg and I whined in pain. I could feel the muscles in my leg tearing from the impact, but I didn't let the pain blind me. I hacked my claws into his face and ripped his head open. He fell to the ground and once my leg was released another two Lycans were on my tail. The first one tried to jump on me, but I doged and bit into his side once he landed, letting him go I jumped back a few meters to regain my stance, but the send one got to me and went after my neck. I reacted quickly and went down on my stomach and before he could look down I jumped and bit into his neck.

He howled in pain and tried to hit me with his claws, but I was faster then him and got on his back, biting his neck again I hacked my claws into his back to steady myself. I thought he was gonna drop down, but he caught me off guard when he fell on his back, crushing me under him. I released my grip on him and screamed in pain. I could feel my broken rib slowly healing. I tried to get up, but before I could he got on me and tried to bite his long teeth into me. I pushed him off of me with my paws and finally got up. Wanting to get this over with I quickly transformed into a human and grabbed his neck, braking it in the process.

Once his dead body drops down I change back into my wolf form and run towards Isabell that got rid of some of the Lycans too. Isabell is much farther than me as she didn't get so messed up and crosses the border line before me, she looks back at me and barks at me. As my feet touch the border line a hard body hits mine and I fly through the air and fall on the ground. I whine as my broken ribs puncture my lungs. As my vision starts blurring, I see howling Isabell running away. 'Atleast she got away'

Before I close my eyes a pair of beautiful blue eyes meet mine and a warm swarm of butterflies starts dancing in my stomach.
