Living in hardship, eating food from her crops, living in a rickety house in a remote area and her school was cut off when she was 13 does not make a young woman named Nuansa lose her hope for achieving a prosperous and happy life.
Nuansa Indahsari is her full name, happiness maybe could be achieved by her, because happiness is relative, but sufficiency may be a bit difficult to be achieve by her.
As an only child, Nuansa is the only hope of her parents who are now entering their old age. Her dad, who used to work as a construction worker, is now sick and cannot work anymore. Her mom makes cassava chips which Nuansa sells to stalls, offices, schools, and other public places.
They are indeed cassava farmers who make cassava as their daily food and make cassava their life expectancy as well. Through cassava that processed into chips, Nuansa's family's highest profit is only enough to buy their daily necessities.
Since he couldn't work anymore, Nuansa's dad also helps his wife and his daughter process and sell their home industrial cassava chips.
In fact, Nuansa has looked at many jobs that generate more income, she has already tried to register to become a Cleaning Service, SPG, Household Assistant, Restaurant Employee, and so on, but she was always got rejected because she's not done her school yet.
In this way, Nuansa always dreams that one day she and her parents can have a more prosperous life, her dream is not to have a life like Cinderella who ended up with marrying a Prince after went through a difficult life, Nuansa only wants a better life than her family's life now through the positive efforts of herself and her parents, that's all.
But maybe God haven't made this day as their time to have a life like that, but it doesn't mean Nuansa will stop dreaming.
Nuansa, a 21-year-old girl who always thinks about what is the things that can change her family's economic condition. She doesn't want a dirty job that generates money instantly, that young woman still prioritizes good business that produces good results.
Although in fact, a way to change her life is in front of her: with marrying a police who's a loyal customer of her cassava chips. But Nuansa doesn't want to do it. She knew how the police likes her, the police is very kind, and that young police knew how Nuansa's life, made him admire that girl even more, but Nuansa doesn't have the same feeling for the police.
That young police named Reynand also knows that Nuansa doesn't return his feelings, but it doesn't mean that this is an opportunity for Reynand to give up fighting for his love for Nuansa.
Nuansa has told her parents about Reynand several times, they've also given their blessing if Nuansa wants to marry Reynand in order to have a better life, but everything returns to Nuansa again, and she doesn't want to marry Reynand.
Reynand's life is somewhat better in terms of economics than Nuansa. And today, as usual, Nuansa delivered Reynand's order to the Police station where Reynand works in the afternoon.
"Six packs left?" Reynand asked as he counted the remaining number of cassava chips in Nuansa's basket.
"Yes, I got many customers today," said Nuansa.
"Woah, then I'll buy all of them."
"Eh? But usually, you only bought four-packs, isn't six too much? I know you always share the chips that you bought from me with your friends, but aren't there too few of you guys to spend six-packs?"
When Reynand was about to answers the girl, his senior named Taufan interrupted him.
"You know, Nuansa? Actually, six-packs are too much, but we are here, as Reynand's true friends, willing to fill our belly with your cassava chips so that he can fight for his love for you through those chips," said Taufan. Reynand then blushed.
"Hey! Why don't you think about them?!" said the girl to Reynand after hearing Taufan's confession.
"Don't listen to him. He's lying. All of us here really like the cassava chips that your mom made. You know what? Every day when I buy your chips, they are always not content with the four packs I bought, so they shouldn't mind if I buy six-packs," explained Reynand. Nuansa then glanced at Taufan
"Of course I'm lying, hahaha. Okay, I'll let you two first, a couple who is in love should have plenty of time together," said Taufan, he then goes to another room.
Reynand then reached into his pocket and took out his wallet, the man then took out his money from his wallet.
"Just take the change, if you give the change to me, your body will stink, I swear," said Reynand.
"But-"
"You want your body to stinks and you'll be avoiding by everyone?"
Nuansa then chuckled. "You ... thank you."
"You're welcome." Reynand laughed too.
"So I've been thinking of something," continued the man.
"What?" The girl asked while throwing a smile.
"I've decided to go to your house and meet your parents and ask for their blessing as soon as possible."
The smile on Nuansa's face suddenly faded.
"It's okay if you can't love me yet, I'm sure, someday you will be able to love me, you just need time and process, and I understand that. But most importantly, we have to get permission from our parents first," he explained.
"Mmm, how about your parents? Have you asked for their blessing? I think it will be better if you ask their blessing first."
"Your answer! Does that mean you've returned my feelings for you?!"
Nuansa looked confused to answer it, Reynand misunderstood, she still can't love him.
"Gosh, Nuansa! Finally, my wait is over! I can't wait to be in the aisle with you!" continued the man.
"Mmm, Reynand, but ..."
"Ok! Ok! Alright! I will ask my parents for their blessing first, and then I will meet your parents. Oooh, you will not be able to imagine how happy I am right now, even maybe I can finish all of these chips because of it!" interrupted Reynand.
'Well, what's now? How do I explain to him that I can't love him and maybe will never be? If I can't just explain it, then how will I explain to him that I reject him?' thought the girl. She then just smiled seeing Reynand who looked so happy.
