"If it was a virus it would affect a lot of people, but I think, it could be murder."
There was a moment of silence between me and the detective. Before he looked at me closer, clearing his thoughts.
"Lets not make any assumptions just yet, please tell me what you saw in the caves."
I felt slightly embarrassed, but I also realized that the other's in the room were suddenly looking at me and watching, they want to know what exactly happened.
So I told them as best as my memories could remember, to how we found them, until to the point where her character suddenly attacked, fell from pain, then logged out. As I spoke the man in front of me wrote whatever I said until the very end.
"Hm.. was there anything strange before it? What did you think of how she suddenly logged out? Why did you think it was a murder?"
There was a part of me that wanted to talk about the glitches, but at the same time, what if I'm the reason that accidentally starts a murderer search when there isn't an actual murder.
"You can tell me whatever you think."
I guess I was thinking to long that the detective noticed it, I gulped before nodding and deciding to tell about the glitches.
"Before we entered the cave, I saw her team and she seemed weird, it looked like hand spasms, and at first I just thought it was just maybe she had those problems in real life or she was really jittery, but then it appeared after she attacked up, but it was like part of her character was glitching out, but it was just her none of the areas around her did it."
Thinking about it made it even more vivid, remembering her cry for help made me shiver but I just shook my head to try and forget it.
"You said earlier how it's murder because if it was a virus there would be more victims.."
I looked at the other male, and by the looks of it I guess what I said was enough to make him look even deeper into the process.
"well, thank you for giving me some of your time, it's pretty late I'll take you home."
That would be better than walking home in the dark, so I said yes and stood up, bowing to the others in the room before following the detective out. He brought me to his car as I then sat in the front seat and we headed back to my home. There was silence before he started talking.
"I didn't want to ask you in the room earlier, I didn't want others to hear."
He spoke as I looked over.
"I can't join the game, I have to many things to work with outside of the game, and It's not like I can play while in working hours, so, if it's not too much, will you try to find out if there's anything wrong happening in the game, anything suspicious?"
I got highly confused by the sudden offer, but,
"Why me?"
I asked as I sat there, the detective keeping his eyes on the road.
"You were the only one who talked about the glitches, so the best option is to ask you, I'm not asking you to be full detective mode, It's just if you see anything suspicious, come to me."
It's not like I would die or anything if I said yes, and I could help in some way to society, he even said I don't need to do much and it's only if I see something strange.
"well, alright, I'll do my best."
We did an awkward nod then it was quiet again, but luckily it wasn't too long before I reached the dorm house. I got out and did another bow as a thank you.
"If you need me just go to the police station and they'll contact me."
I nodded and went inside, everyone was either sleeping or playing in the game. I went to grab some microwaved pasta then went up to my room. Changed into some comfortable clothing. I didn't have work tomorrow luckily, and I just remembered what I had to do, wait for the sun to hit that marking on the statue.
If I slept now, I don't think I can wake up before it hits the mark. I guess I'll be staying up until morning comes. What should I do in the mean time though? I guess I can level up or something. After eating my pasta, I opened up the Silver Mind and took a deep breath.
"This game is fun, lets not think to much of the bad things that happened."
I closed the device's door shut as I then started the game.
I was where I left off, in front of the statue, I looked around and notice there were less people, but there was still a good amount. I guess the news of the death is known around the world now, that's why a good amount of people are gone now. I took a deep breath to calm my head, then turned around and walked towards the gates of the city, but then stopped when I noticed I was going towards the forest, remembering that I had the curse, meaning I had a higher chance in dying in the forest than going to the rocky terrains.
I did a quick 180 and walked to the other gate which lead to the rocky terrain. I stopped mid walk to the gate when I saw some delicious Takoyaki, I said I'd save money but, food just looks too good to ignore.
I ended up buying some and ate it on the way without regrets. I finished eating pretty fast and I guess it had some buffs since I feel myself moving a bit faster even when I'm just walking. I walked past the gates and at first, it had some green lands but after a bit it was down to rocks and dry lands, there were many types of beasts, some just small insects or lizards moving around.
There was a path that would lead to the wilderness, you could see the large mountains in the background from here. I tried to remember the name of this area as best as I could before just taking the easy way and opening the map.
"huh, Sylan grou-!!"
I was suddenly attacked from behind by something large enough to make me roll on the ground. My health going down by 25 percent.
"Agh?! What the hell was that?"
I coughed slightly from the dust that riled up, looking towards where I was hit, seeing a large bull like animal, it looked more like a mountain goat, but it had a long tail like a lion, it stood with four legs that had 3 toes which looked almost metallic, and the most eye catching thing on the best was it's large 2 horns on its head, it was a bright blue and as big as a small child. It really pops out especially when it's body is covered in white fur.
I stood up quickly as it looked like it was ready to come charging again.
"ah shit shit-"
I hurried to pull out my sword as fast as I could and barely dodge the incoming thing that had no hesitation to attack me.
"What the hell is that thing? It's like fighting with a bull!"
I said that as if I even knew how a fight with a bull was like. I clearly have never fought a bull before, but I was about to fight something that was just like that. I wasn't sure what I needed to do, should I use the skill I borrowed? Yet I still had about a week before it finishes its analysis. I made a little displeased groan before something hit me.
"I have the knight skills, am I an idiot?"
I never felt so stupid at that point but quickly opened the skill menu to figure out how exactly I would active one of the skills. There were two skills I earned, either using Knight's heroic armor, or using Knight's home. I wanted to finish this up quickly and kill the beast before I end up dying again.
While trying to figure out how to activate the skill, the thing ran forward again and suddenly went on it's hind legs and was about to use it's front toes to attack me. I was quick to pull the sword up to block the attack, almost falling to my knees from how heavy the beast's was. I was being pushed down and I quickly opened the menu again to see how exactly I would make the skill work.
.
Skill chosen - Knight's home
To activate the skill, please try to feel energy go to your stomach and say the skill's name.
.
Oh god I was going to feel the embarrassment again, but I had no time to waste unless I wanted to die from this goat thing. I took a deep breath and tried to feel the energy in my stomach, yet it only felt like I had to go to the washroom, I could feel my ear heat up a little but just quickly shouted the name.
"Knight's home!"
I shouted as I felt a sudden rush of air from my feet rush up through my body. I could feel the sudden strength that went into my arms and I quickly pushed off the beast off of me, making it tumble to the side.
"Woah, this feel's pretty dope-"
I whispered to myself feeling a little proud. Though just like the information said, any weapons being carried felt a bit heavier as the sword in my hand felt heavier than it was before, but it didn't matter. The beast was getting up again.
"Alright, come here, I'll show you the skills of an old pro gamer."
I grinned, the scared feeling I had earlier slowly disappearing, and the moment it came towards me, I took a big swing to the point it broke the animal's horn. I wasn't the only one that got caught off guard too, the thing seemed surprised, but now even angrier. I panicked and quickly swung again, hurting it's eye, jumping in attempt to try and stab it's head, only for me to go higher than expected.
I forgot the armor let my body feel lighter. As I was falling down, I pushed the sword down into the beast's head then landing on the sword, using my weight to push it deeper into it's head before it stopped moving then dispersing, showing I defeated it.
"Yes!"
I felt so proud as I jumped off the sword which was now stabbed into the ground as I grabbed what was dropped by the thing.
"hmm, Sylan fur and a Sylan horn."
I stood there for a moment before realizing what I killed, it was the beast that occupied most of the area.
"That's why it's called Sylan grounds."
I put the items away since I could probably sell them before hearing a huffing sound behind me, I looked behind and it was another beast.
"well, seems like you'll be the animals that level me up."
I smiled and now without hesitation I went after it.
Without realizing it, it was way past 6 am. I opened my stats and realized I leveled up by 10 levels, but only 10 levels? Well again, these guys are pretty low level so it would be harder to level up even if I spent hours here. In surprised the food in this game gave me so much energy.
I saw the sky begin to get lighter, so I guess it's time to go back to the statue. I let out a small yawn, it was late, and I haven't slept at all, but I've gone this fa, there's no point giving up now.
I headed back to the city, yawning again as the sky's got brighter and the animals began to wake up the world. The birds singing, walking a little faster now since I wouldn't want to miss it.
"Now let's see where the world takes me now."
To be continued...
