Chapter 38 - The Siblings Fight

[MR: Birthday - Somi]

"Waah…" Violetta yawns in the morning. She sits up drowsily.

'What to do today…'

As much as she wants to laze around and 'faire la grasse matinee*', it's boring to sleep in without technology, anime, and dramas to binge watch.

Violetta puts on a simple comfy qipao and ties back her long jet black hair. Then, she heads down stairs after brushing up.

Because of the relentless berating from Delta, the obedient maids serve breakfast elegantly and correctly after weeks of training.

This time, they brought in rice cakes for breakfast along with freshly brewed coffee [which was a requirement from Delta] and sweetened soy milk [a requirement from Violetta].

Chris didn't have much of a preference but often drank water instead while Kate was a bit shy. However, it was evident that she is opening up which is a good sign. Violetta smiles at the happy bunch.

The group drowsily allocates the steamed rice cakes.

"What shall we do today?" asks Kate as she munches.

"Haaahhh," Violetta yawns again, "Mmm, I think we should clean up the courtyard. Might as well do it sooner than later."

"Alright, it'll also be a good training practice for magic control," Delta adds.

"Ah, and also Kate, definitely be careful with your magic because we don't want to burn down the house. We might as well practice your magic control elsewhere first actually."

Kate nods in agreement. She shudders at the thought of burning down the house. She would never be able to repay them even though it's such a worn down courtyard.

Violetta sips her soymilk and sighs, "I still need to find out how to see my magic."

'It's not even appearing, like I can feel it but once I open my eyes it disappears… I've got a long way to go."

"Maybe I (you) should get a teacher that specializes in wind magic," Violetta and Delta simultaneously voice out.

Chris nods in agreement, "I can contact brother. He can arrange for a wind power mage to come teach you."

"Woah! Are you going to use FaceTime -ahem- I mean the thing they used to contact my father at the Demigod Society?"

"Mhm! A mana-call!"

'I don't know what you mean by FaceTime but okay,' the little boy thinks in his head, 'Sometimes Big sis stays the weirdest things ever.'

The group walks outside the building into the barren garden. Violetta and Kate intently watch Chris conjure a mana-call. The golden and white sparkles swirl like a whirlpool of water. Slowly, they gather into a flat, calm surface… and connects!

In a moment, Claude's handsome face shows up. Kate gasps in surprise.

Even though she saw the mana-call back at the Demigod Society, that time was such a scary moment, she couldn't pay attention to anything else. However at the moment, the beautiful light magic seemed to draw her in.

'That is some fine quality HD there,' Violetta muses as she looks at the bright face appearing on the screen. His chiseled chin and enlightening smile seemed to only exist in a dream.

"Brother!" Chris calls out.

Slowly his eyes start to water as the little boy looks at his brother whom he hasn't really separated from since birth.

Violetta feels her heart pang in worry and guilt from taking Chris away from her brother.

"Hey, Chris!" he greets him with a smile, "What's up?"

"Uh-" he looks over at Delta for help.

Delta walks over beside him before explaining.

"Can you send over a wind mage who's good at teaching?"

"Ah, also a fire mage," Violetta adds for Kate's sake.

Kate looks at the princess. She knew that her highness was always kind all the time, but this time, it really touched her heart.

Claude looks at the two mages on the screen before asking, "The princess is there too?"

"Duh," Delta rolls her eyes, "We would never leave her highness's side."

"You've become quite close," he says as he tilts his head and smiles.

The bright blue hair falls to one side. However, it seemed to cast a shadow, making the smile seem ambiguous.

"Who are the teachers for?"

"Kate and Big Sister," Chris replies.

Then, the young boy frowns, "You better not do anything, Brother…"

"Of course not!" Claude tries to say with a serious look, "I'm always a nice guy."

Chris snickers, "Says the guy who tricked us and ate half of Melody's yummy macarons!"

"That was only once!"

"No it wasn't!"

Claude looks at his brother begging, "Please trust me!"

Chris rolls his eyes. He would never fall for his scheming brother's tricks again. "Been there, done that!"

The poor demi-dog lowers his eye lashes and whimpers like a sad puppy. He looked wronged and betrayed by Chris, although he was the first to betray Chris by stealing macarons.

"Pretty please?"

"No!"

And so the act drops in a second.

"Well too bad! Even if I'm exposed you can't do anything about it!"

The three girls watch the sibling fight at the side. The 'so called successor of the Supreme Demigod' seems to have regressed to a five year old's brain cell capacity.

Delta ,who has been watching agape at the side, facepalms, "Claude-san, you seriously sound like a five year old."

Then she turns to Kate and Violetta, "Please believe me, he's so different when he works and actually gets stuff done. I don't know what's happening here…"

With a bewildered expression, Kate looks back and forth from Delta to Claude on the screen before dazedly nodding.

Violetta laughs. A cool breeze blows by adding to the calm and comfortable feeling in her heart. How glad she is to be with these kind people in the world.

Then, she moves to Chris's side, peering closer into the mana-call.

"Alright then, please invite two teachers over to us, please. Thanks!" Violetta sums up.

Her face finally appears in the camera for a second before Chris hangs up on his annoying brother.

"Now then…. we should clean up this courtyard! We can't invite the teachers over when it's so dirty and shabby."
