"Alright. Can you tell me the location of the dark guild? I'll need to go and take care of them. I was originally going back to my guild, but since there is one last dark guild not too far away, I'll clean them up as well." Explained Jax as he took a seat.
"Yes. As I said previously, it is a few kilometres in the ocean from where you found me. Unfortunately, I don't know the perfect direction since I was stuck in a storm. However, the dark guild is building a tower, and you really can't miss it. They call the tower the tower of heaven, and its purpose is to resurrect the dark mage Zeref. In the tower, there are a few hundred slavers who know magic and even the one I considered a friend is now loyal to Zeref and continues to use the others to build the tower." the cute red-haired girl explained while gesticulating to explain better.
"Alright. Do you have any friends in the tower that I have to pay more attention to?" Asked Jax as he was planning on helping Erza's friends.
"Yes. My friend's names are Wally, Shō, Simon, Millianna and... that's all." Answered the girl while looking down at her feet with a few tears coming out of her eyes.
Understanding that she might have gone through something hard, Jax nodded. "I see. I'll be sure to look for the four of them in the tower. Do you want to wait for me here to come back with them?" Asked Jax as he wanted to know whether or not to leave the cabin there.
"Yes, I'll wait for them here. Will it take long?" Asked Erza as she hugged herself while sitting down on the bed.
"No, it won't take more than a few hours." Reassured Jax as he came closer and hugged the girl who was closing in on herself due to fear.
"Don't worry. After tonight, everything will be over, I promise." Smiled Jax as he slightly patted her head before turning around and took off his shirt to change for another one as it had been torn up when he fought the previous dark guild.
"Euh? Are you from Fairy Tail?" She asked as she saw the same mark on the back of Rob, the one who had helped her in the tower of heaven.
"Eum? Yes, I am. Do you know Fairy Tail?" Jax asked back with a frown on his face.
"Yes, the old man Rob had the same sign on his back. It's just that it was slightly smaller. Even the colour is similar! But, he died while saving us." Said Erza before turning sad again.
Patting her head, Jax encouraged her. "I'm sure that he was happy by his choice to die to protect you and that if he had to make the same choice again, he would do the same. As Fairy Tail wizards, we rarely regret what we do as everything we do is to better our magic and protect our family. Alright, you stay here; I'll go and get rid of these guys. Now that one of our Fairy Tail members died there, it became personal." Said Jax with a grim look on his face.
A moment later, Jax disappeared from the cabin as he arrived at the ocean. The first thing he did was to submerge into the sea as he turned into his water form and used his water detection magic which would allow him to detect anything in water within a specific range. Thankfully, by changing into his water form, he could easily see everything within almost ten kilometres.
A few minutes later, he finally found a relatively large piece of rock. He didn't doubt that this was the tower of heaven named by Erza as there wasn't anything else that went out of the water in his surroundings. Accelerating as fast as he could, Jax merely took two minutes to surf across the sea at his highest speed possible.
As he came closer and closer to the tower, he was surprised by the size of it. However, what surprised him more was that some shield created an illusion to hide the building. Arriving at the tower entrance, Jax was ready to take it on alone and destroy it if necessary. He first worked on tying all the hidden boats to the tower with his water magic before reverting to his previous appearance.
Growing a tree from the tower's base, he rapidly grew branches and twigs all around the building to close any openings and prevent anyone from escaping from the tower. It didn't take more than a few minutes before the tree surrounded the entire tower.
He then dived down into a shadow in the tower as he activated his night vision. At this point, everyone in the building was ultimately in panic as all the openings closed up and the previously bright sky was entirely blocked by a tree that grew out of nowhere. However, the alarm was only beginning as they started to find more and more slavers' corpses.
After killing a few, Jax confirmed that they were from a dark guild as they had the mark and started to hunt them all down. He didn't plan on keeping much of them alive as they were slavers, they killed a member of Fairy Tail, and they were dark mages. They were born to be against Jax.
On the first floor, Jax killed the dark mages and released the slaves before moving on to another floor. On the floor, he had verified that no one fitted the description of Erza's friends. Just like the first floor, Jax took twenty minutes to clean the entire floor once again. At this time, the dark mages were all fleeing to the upper levels as the panic had now spread all across the tower of heaven.
Luckily, by this time, there weren't any strong dark mages who met Jax, so he was fighting and releasing prisoners uninterrupted. It continued until the sixth floor, where he finally met resistance from an S-rank dark mage who was handling this floor.
However, with Jax's speed and various means, Jax blocked his firestorm attack with a water shield and hid with the generated mist. He then used his dark magic to equip a sword that stabbed the S-rank mage in the heart from the back. He was never one to talk and answer questions during his fights. When he fought with his life on the line, he directly went for the kill with 100%.
Moving on from the dark mage, he continued to the seventh floor, where he found traces of Erza's friends. However, seeing that they weren't in any danger at this time, he left a branch not far from their respective room, which could detect enemies and act by itself before moving on to the eighth floor, where he found another dark mage.
This enemy was a little bit more skilled, but weak S-rank dark mages already didn't pose any threat to Jax as he killed him and moved to the ninth floor and finally the tenth floor where the supposed boss of the tower of heaven was living.
And indeed, as Jax arrived on this floor, he was presented with two S-rank dark mages and a blue-haired young boy with a tattoo on his right eye who excluded traces of evil.
"Who are you, and why did you attack this tower?" Asked an S-rank member with hate in his voice.
Not bothering to answer, he created two clones made of light and immediately rushed towards the enemy. Taking advantage of their lack of focus due to their talking, Jax's attack took them by surprise.
"Wh-." Before the other S-rank mage tried to talk, Jax used his magic and started to attack. Anyway, in this battle, there would only be two outcomes, either they died, or he died. In this way, it didn't make much sense to argue with them.
With a swing of his hand, a projectile of water rushed towards the second S-rank mage who was trying to talk. According to his understanding of the dark guilds, the stronger often spoke first due to dominance or something like that. As such, except for the young boy sitting behind the two S-rank mages, the wizard on the right was the weakest and thus the best opportunity for a breakthrough.
Seeing him attack, the three, including the young boy, started to fight back. Evading the spells to the side, Jax used his water geyser spell right in between the three mages, which erupted a lot of water everywhere in the room and allowed Jax to use his new magic spell, water teleportation. While this spell was exceptionally helpful, he couldn't teleport very far to travel but was perfect in battle. He even turned back into his water form as it allowed him to take his opponents by surprise when one tried to stab him with a hidden knife, only to receive a water blade that cut his arm.
Creating various animals made of water to attack surprised the three dark mages, and Jax took this time to kill the strongest of the two S-rank mages. He then turned towards the young boy of his age. Jax didn't feel a tiny bit of remorse in trying to kill him. He didn't doubt that this was the friend who had turned, Erza was talking about. However, from the air the boy was currently releasing, he was truly evil. Jax even made sure to use his fairy magic to verify whether the blue-haired boy was controlled, and he indeed was. However, after using his fairy magic, all traces of control disappeared, and he still had traces of evil in him which had nothing to do with exterior forces. The most important point was that despite not being controlled by anything, he was still trying to kill him. That was who he truly was.
As he approached the young boy who sent a spell to kill him, Jax teleported on the boy's right. Since he thought he was behind him due to Jax's previous teleportation attack, he turned his head towards the left to look behind him, only to find nothing but a sword handle that crashed in his head, knocking him out cold. After taking him down, Jax sped up and fought the last of the three mages. He released all kinds of magic, ranging from his fire to his lightning and sound magic to disrupt him, before finally managing to kill the last S-rank mage.
He then bound the boy before he woke up and left him there as there as he didn't want to bother about him anymore. He would hand him over to the magic council and that would be the end of it. He didn't plan on saving him or anything. He tried to kill him and not killing him was already overextending his kindness.
